There is an unprecedented amount of variety in supermarkets these days. This is what the average store in America looks like. Pictures are of Kroger, Murray's, Walmart, etc.

Yes, the US is a food-lover's paradise.

America is indeed the greatest country in the world, we already knew this OP.

Murray's is on a completely different level than Walmart or some other generic supermarket. It is more of a high end/speciality store than anything. Much more expensive too. They are even more fancy/expensive/specialized than Whole Foods tries to be.

Here in Vegas at least, they have these big Murray's Kiosks (like the one pictured) in some of the Smiths grocery stores.
I fucking love Murray's. Charcuterie is kinda meh, but the cheese is *red underlined 100 emoji*
>>7073870
Yeah, but they've started operating in smaller supermarkets like Kroger. This thread isn't about price but options.
>>7073875
i got you senpai
Is this supposed to be a bad thing, OP? I don't get the reason for this thread.
>>7073882
When they're doing business in my flyover state of all places, then I consider that to be pretty average, but YMMV.
Other supermarkets, are you even trying?

He probably needed a little jolt of American Exceptionalismâ„¢ and has never been to another country so he thinks that everyone not in America lives in mud huts.
>>7073888
Just take from it what you will.
One might view it as American superiority while another person view it as the end to the so-called "flyover" state.

I love the lighting in grocery stores these days. One of the reasons I avoid Target and Walmart.
>>7073906
There is a Walmart near me that uses sunlight during the day. Like 1/2 of the roof (in checkered fashion) is transparent sunroof. I didn't notice until one cloudy day, when everything around me was gradually becoming darker and lighter as the clouds passed. I was sober but I thought I was tripping the fuck out hard. Even started to panic until I looked up and saw the ceiling.

Ceiling you crazy....
Compared to Canadian grocery stories ALL of these pics are pretty much heaven on earth.
Our selection is pretty much limited to a max of 5 items per product category.
And like 8/10 of the time I'd prefer to go to Aldi.
>>7075288
You must live in some small town cause here in Vancouver we get pretty good variety in our stores.
>>7075376
>Aldi
have some self respect anon, aldi looks like what i imagine supermarkets in soviet russia were like
>>7073799
>there's only soup
>>7073747
Yet I still have to go to the asian and spanish grocery stores for nearly all ingredients that aren't in European dishes. The few that the regular stores have are always 2 and 3x more.
>>7075396
Those commies wish they had an Aldi
Agreed OP. Even the poorfag supermarkets have an impressive variety.
That is not what the average store looks like
>>7073906
I'm live in farm country and Walmart's produce is literally trash. It's whatever is left of the crop that the other distributors don't want. They're a real pain in the ass to work with as well their trucks are like never ever on fucking time and we'll have shit just wasting away in the lot waiting for pickup.
>>7075392
Isn't every Canadian city regardless of size just Sobey's and Dominion/SuperStore?
>>7075477
We actually don't have any Sobey's here in Vancouver. But there's a good mix of places like Whole Foods, Save-on-Foods, Asian markets like H-mart and T&T and Superstores.
>>7073893
wtf? i'd actually hang out for a saturday afternoon there.
Fuck I wish Walmart was that nice in Toronto. The range of items is so appalling that I end up going to several smaller specialised stores instead.
>variety
you know that a staggering majority of food brands sold in america are owned by like 10 super brand conglomerates, don't you?
it's a very, very loose definition of variety.
>>7073747
Kroger shopper here. They were forced to diversify because Whole Foods is getting more and more widespread. They'd go out of business otherwise.
I still love Kroger's though. They're willing to try new things and that's pretty bold for a huge chain like that.
This damn olive bar at Wegmans eats up at least 20 minutes everytime I go there. 15 minutes to quickly sample, then another 5 to stop for a few craft samples on the way out to wash it down. Thanks Obama.

>i'd actually hang out for a saturday afternoon there.
That's just what the store wants, provided you keep on buying stuff.
