As someone who has hated coffee their entire life but now wishes to try and get into it, what would be the best drink for me to start with?

I started with mocha, which is coffee and chocolate. After that, you could try flavoured coffees. Most places offer latte and cappuccino with a pump of syrup which makes them flavoured. Latte and cappuccino also have the most milk compared to coffee.
Espresso-based drinks.
You can drink flat whites and cappuccinos without looking like a fag.
Lattes, not so much.

Drink coffee in the afternoon, like 4pm. Don't drink any in the morning. it works out a lot better this way. I'm not getting withdrawal headaches or anything now.

Move from espresso drinks to standard coffee with milk.
Then move to plain coffee
Then move back to plain espresso

Start with some milk and a teaspoon of sugar.
Just use sugar and then gradually reduce the amount you use, and milk. Gets easier and easier

light roast or medium roast are good for beginners, dark still puts me off. half and half can really take the bite out of it when you're starting.

Almost every specialty roaster that ships their coffee has 12 oz bags that are under $20.
I use Counter Culture.
If you have one close, it's much better to buy from a coffee roaster.

Iced Lattes are the most entry level coffee drink in existence, start there.
americanos are by far the most entry level drink there is
you'll never transition to pure espresso if you're drinking cappuccinos or lattes. if you do, they'll all taste like desserts if you try to go back to them again.
One of my friends drinks triple-triples. It's not even hot by the time he gets it.
