What does /ck/ think of this show? Are the bars they fix actually real?
Wasn't Yahtzee's Mana Bar on there once? That's a real place.

One episode that had the manager offering to pay an employee to attack another employee was where it jumped the shark.
It's as fake as Hell's Kitchen, except the host guy isn't a Michelin chef.
The bars are real, the drama is fake.
The first step is that struggling bars send in audition tape asking to be on the show.
The producers then pick three or four bars to visit with a camera crew in an area and tell them whichever bar is the "worst" will get to be on the show.
They coach the bars to create drama, stop cleaning, etc. if they want to get on the show.
Sometimes they legitimately find bars that are so poorly run and full of assholes they don't have to coach them that much, but mostly it's just struggling bars that are looking for a free remodel and some publicity.
I believe there's still a lawsuit pending from one owner who claims that the producers told him to act like a jerk and hit on Taffer's wife and get in to a fight with Taffer.
It's fake and every episode plays out the same, but I like, good mindless fun.

John Taffer is a smart ass nigga (met him a few times), and he definitely improves these bars... But he leaves them back in the hands of the retards that were ruining them in the first place. Like any consultant, he can give them the tools that can help their business, but he can't force them to use them.
Went to a couple of the bars he fixed here in Vegas. One was OK, others went back to shit. He built them this huge wall of taps on a map of the globe, denoting where the beer came from. Naturally, when we went there a few days after airing (probably 6mo after John Taffer left) they were all shitty ImBev macro brews.
One of the bars they rescued actually slapped with a fine because Taffer's guys installed one of those self-serve automatic beer taps and it wasn't legal in that state.
