Do you put jam in the fridge?
>>
When I've made it and need it to set, yes.

Once opened, yes.
>>
>>7051422
What's going on with that pic?
>>
>>7051422
No. Jam is a PRESERVE. Why would it require refrigeration?
>>
>>7051422
Only once openned (so contaminants can get in)

>>7051435
I think they left the jar on the burner and the glass shattered.
>>
>>7051436
Because you opened it
>>
What the fuck, those two jars Morphed together.
>>
>>7051455
That's the lid
>>
>>7051455
Mindfuck.

Not him, but I thought it was some weird jar with 2 openings.
>>
>>7051454
Makes no difference. The pectin and sugar stops it from spoiling.
>>
>>7051484
You are literally as dumb as the person that put the jar on a burner and turned it on
>>
>>7051484
>The pectin and sugar stops it from spoiling.

There are molds which will happily grow in a high sugar environment, and will happily colonise and spoil your jam. You'd be unlucky to get some in your jam, but it's not impossible.
>>
>>7051485
>literally
No.
>>
>>7051455
>>7051458
same
>>7051456
took me a minute even after you pointed it out
>>

Ignorance is bliss

That's a pretty stove. Old fashioned though.
>>

This question is pretty irrelevent. If you forget to put milk or meat in the fridge you don't wake up the next day and thing "Oh does this HAVE to go in the fridge?", you fucking know because its stinky and obviously gone bad. If you can keep your jam out of the fridge and eat it and its still fine then no, you don't have to keep it in the fridge. If the jam you buy goes off if you keep it in your cupboard, then yes, you need to put it in the fridge.
>>
>>7051484
Then explain why there is mold in my homemade jam you ass.
>>
>>7051587
Because didn't wash your shit-stained fingers you pig.
>>

>source- I make and sell jam and similar products

I use Jelly on my PB&J sandwiches but I do refrigerate my jelly.

Is Jam really that good for PB&J sandwiches? Might go later this evening to buy some.
>>
>>7051850
Jam is usually better because it has a stronger taste that holds up with the peanut butter.
Jam is made with chopped or puréed fruit, while jelly is made with fruit juice. There are some jellies that have a bold enough taste to stand up to pb, notably cherry and grape.

But my favorite for PBJs is peach cardamom jam.

>peach cardamom jam.
That sounds good. I'm bored of eating my PB&J sandwiches with generic grape jelly, I need something new. Thanks for the info.
