I've been trying my damnedest to make bacon wrapped grissini for two days. The kind coated in brown sugar.
Every. Single. Time. It burns. The sugar burns, that is. I've tried two different recipes and one experiment where I tried playing with short baking times and putting the sugar on the portion of the bacon that touches the grissini.
Has anyone here ever made it before and, if so, what's a recipe you KNOW works?
The sugar will take no time to brown. If you put it on along with the bacon, of course it will brown and burn long before they're ready. Either put the sugar on a minute before it's done, or sprinkle over top afterward.
Any pros know how many eggs I'd get for $35.99 before I spend $6 to travel to the store? Food has become outrageously expensive here. I don't remember the last time I bought any non-bean protein, milk, bread, or vegetables that cost more than $1/lb. I rely on the salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee, milk, and leftovers from terminated employees at the office. It would be nice if I could buy eggs in bulk, beat and freeze them in containers.

I started off making some beef & broccoli due to laziness, then while the beef was going I lost my mind and dug out the spices.
When the beef was done, added some chopped cabbage and the broccoli, and added the usual salt and pepper and soy sauce... and then the fish sauce and coconut aminos and mace and allspice and chili powder and cayenne and ground ghost pepper and basil and smoked paprika.
Result is a goddamn winner.
What have you done when you lost your mind at the stovetop?
I don't like the taste of my tap water. It's ok, nothing wrong with it, I just don't like the taste. What can I put in it that is sugar free to make it taste ok. Maybe some lemonade powder or something.
Just get a brita filter, you fat fuck. Or buy bottled/distilled water if your tap water is so far beyond fixing with a filter that you still need to put crystal light into it.
I lived for a few years in a state with a horrid alkaline water supply and everyone bought bottled water. You need to drink water. It's not ok to never drink water.

I'd say my mood is pretty good. This weekend I only drank about a pint of vodka total and got in two good workouts. This week at work should be pretty easy with most of the bosses taking off for Christmas.

figured no one here went to culinary school or does this for a living but i figured id ask.
what do you think about going to culinary school? and which school is the best. i could do med school or culinary school, and there's no way i'm passing up med school unless i can get into one of the best culinary schools.
If you're in America CIA is hands down the best school. Do you necessarily need culinary school to do well in the industry? In most cases not really, although it definitely helps. Best chef I ever knew worked his way up from prep chef without ever going to a single cooking class.
if you want to pay off tens of thousands of dollars in loan debt making $8.50 an hour in prep for the first few years, i guess.
a better alternative is to find a resort or conference hotel in your area and put in your dues without all that crushing debt. either way you're blanching kale and shucking oysters for the first couple years.
