Anyone ever had fantasies of owning a cottage somewhere and growing things on your own farm?
>tfw growing and nurturing my own potatoes
>tfw 100% organic potatoes fried over a man-made fire in a cast iron skillet

biologically speaking are humans suppose to eat meat?
What does /ck/ think about onions?
What is your favorite type and your favorite use for onions?
Kind of curious here, what's the main difference from onions in OP's pic to the purple ones? I bought some of both for some quesadillas and after trying each out (cooked) I couldn't tell a difference.

This could last me over 3 weeks with the ingredients I already have:
Chicken bones from a rotisserie
Pork chili verde
Making and freezing burritos with the beans, cheese, and chili verde.
Forgot to post the fries that are going with the burgers. They're on the receipt, along with a six pack of Stone IPA.
What is /ck/s favorite bread?
what does /ck/ do with their pic related?
I've never had them except canned, and I found them awful that way. I know there's a lot of health benefits to them and I want to try my hand at a preparation I enjoy, but no one in my family cooks with beets.
how do you do them yourself? raw, grilled, baked, breaded? what's the best recipe with beets you've ever had?
2 (15 ounce) cans whole pickled beets, juice reserved
1 onion, chopped
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
2 bay leaves
12 whole cloves
Place eggs in saucepan and cover with water. Bring to boil. Cover, remove from heat, and let eggs sit in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, and peel.
Place beets, onion, and peeled eggs in a non-reactive glass or plastic container. Set aside.
In a medium-size, non-reactive saucepan, combine sugar,...

and this yields... beet-flavored eggs and beet-flavored beets? why eggs and beets in a bowl together? they look really stunning but I don't know how I feel about pickled beets.
roasted from fresh? from that picture I'd guess you treat them a lot like potatoes?
what seasonings and spices do you find work well on them? I know I could google around for recipes but I trust the taste of this board better than something from allrecipes.com

Does anyone else here ape the traditions of others in order to give much-needed meaning to their empty and otherwise meaningless lives? Today I made black eyed peas because I think some people make that for New Years.
Who else made black eyed peas today? Did I do it right? I used ham hocks, star anise, clove, and shallot. I dumped it over some rough chopped mixed greens and I'm having it with a cheap cotes de provence red.
This was my first year doing black eyed peas for the new year, and I have no clue why it's a thing.
I was told to go get the frozen ham bones and bits, leftover from Christmas and last Easter, and make a nice broth out of them.
When I came back for dinner black eyed peas and some greens had been added. Shitty pumpkin and beer cornbread on the side.
Pic related is about $1000 bucks, but it is apparently the best smoker in the game.
Who /smoker/ here? Do you have a big green egg? Is it worth it? What are some based smoker recipes?
I built my own, also the patio below it.
I like to build things, probably why I like to cook so much.
Build your own OP, you'll end up a lot happier in the long run.
Is it acceptable to unleash flatulence in a restaurant kitchen when it is busy?
I am new, but feel that leaving to blow ass makes me look bad.
Hey /ck/, what are your favorite ways of cooking salmon? I have some salmon and no idea what a good way of cooking it would be.
