I'm a bit of a drunk and my go-to bottom shelf bourbon is Old Grand-dad (either 80 or 100 proof, whichever is available).
Starting around summer of last year, my local liquor stores (Spec's, a very large chain in Texas) began running out of it. If I drove 20 minutes extra from my usual spot, I could find it, even if it was only a fifth of the 80 proof.
Been hankering for a bottle of the 100 proof (probably the best $20 fifth you can buy), so I had my nearest Spec's put in a special order for a bottle. I've done this before and it usually takes...

Specs usually restocks on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Try camping the store opening on those days to find a bottle.

I think the old crow reserve is done. I haven't seen it in any store around my area for a year now. The 100 Ogd is pretty few and far between. I've also seen some different bottles and labels come out for OGD so they may be releasing a newer batch slowly idk. The 114 is everywhere though which is just fine for me.

My closest Spec's is in a very upscale area and the bottom shelf is largely used up by yours truly.
If the issue was them flying off the shelves, I could easily ask them to save me a bottle. The stores that say it's popular are 30 minutes or more away and I ain't camping them out.
>>7313750
You know what, you are probably right. The last time I saw ODG 100 was at the Spec's off 2920. It came in a completely different bottle and had...

As a poor college student minced beef is a cheap and filling staple but i'd be lying if the endless stream of burgers and bolognese/meatballs wasn't getting boring. What are some other good meals I can make with mince meat

Tacos, shepherds pie, meatloaf
Come on m8

tacos/burritos were a staple for a while, shepards pie was fucking ruined by my mom making utter shit ones. never had meatloaf but it sounds pretty good

Going to be using meat a lot? Get a slower cooker and become legend among your friends. Got meat? Toss it in some Chili on low. Roll em into meatballs, mix it into spaghetti sauce, eat it raw because its manly.

What the tangy fuck is that?

A moco loco Hawaiian comfort food.
Rice in a Pho bowl with two hamburger patties and two eggs scrambled or fried on top.
And omelette served with pancakes and hashbrowns, hngggh.
I have about 2 pounds of leftover pulled pork and I've run out of ideas to repurpose it. I've had sandwiches for days, I made fried rice yesterday. I'm thinking some kind of pasta dish, but I'm not so sure a tomato-based sauce would be good. The pork is already plenty acidic between the vinegar, crushed pineapple, etc.
Any thoughts on interesting ways to reuse this?
If all fails, curry is the answer.
Otherwise, shred it and deep fry the shreds until crusty.

My wife's son hates it so I'm not allowed to eat there :/
i got a weber smoker for my birthday, and just smoked my first stuff.
lam riblets and beef shank on left, and pork shoulder and beef chuck on right
dry rub was chili, cumin, garlic, salt and sugar, and a little coffee and cocoa. only on there for a few hours before it went in the smoker
cold day and SUPER windy. Couldn't get the temp past 200 until i but up a wind break.
Used briquets and apple wood.
Got a lot darker than I expected. Lamb came off after maybe 4 hours (with much of that time not being quite in the proper temp range), beef shanks after about 6. Chuck and pork then went into a 275 oven. Chuck came out after maybe two hours, and pork 4 hours.
Any of you own a deep fat fryer?
id love to get one, but im afraid of becoming obscenely obese.
as long as you use it with moderation, it should be no problem. I believe it is recommended to use it no more than once a week.
I have one, doesn't see much use. its expensive to keep getting oil for it
>>7314433
Yeah, but I dont really like using it because it makes the kitchen and me stink of fried oil. Its good for making chips (fries), anything with a batter. But the oil retains the flavor of what you cook in it, so my oil stinks like fish kind of, which means I cant use it for making a thing like doughnuts, and to change the oil is such a fucking hassle cause theres so much of it, it takes up like 5 bottles or something, I just cant be bothered. I suppose I use the deep fat fryer about 10 times a year maximum.
If...

found your problem.
It's generally superior poverty tier cooking, which means that when you get wealthy and still eat it you get fat.
most of the highlights involve clever uses of spices to brighten up staple foods and the use of odds and ends of animal carcasses in creative ways.
An AWFUL lot of what is considered soul food is actually just poor Southerner food- I'm white as a ghost but my...
