Coffee thread. How do you make your coffee? Discuss espresso machines, moka pots, french press, aeropress, manual drip, anything coffee.
V60 and a hario grinder. Went through about 5 chemexes, breaking one every few years. Finally tried a V60 and it hasn't broken yet.
Growing up we had one of those La Pavoni, it's how I got into coffee.
I mostly drink espresso after lunch and I almost never have lunch at home, so haven't been able to explain to myself why I need an espresso machine or a fancy grinder.

Moka pot + Krups grinder. I also have a Nespresso machine I got for Christmas 2 years ago but I rarely use it.
French press mustard race, but I enjoy espresso more but im too poor to get an espresso machine ;_;
So what kind of mistakes have yall made in the kitchen?

Tried to replicate KFC.
Dropped the chicken into a vat of luke-warm oil.
It was a horror scene.
>>7399604
Wouldn't you just have undercooked chicken?

17 years old. First job. Dishwashing. I have no clue how food works. Chef asks me to strain the stock. So I dump the liquid and bring him buckets of bones and boiled vegetables.
Who else getting dicker'd during the day? Gonna eat some microwaved pork skin later!
> sweet n low 1/8 tsp

fyi, i haven't posted this yet, but i'm on my second after ten minutes.
These pork rines taste marvelous.
what happened to progun_il and his cat MC?
Let me get this straight, you're mixing preworkout, vodka, soda, and drink flavor powder? This reads like a 420chan post
Hey /ck/
Looking at making Chinese braised pork.
Was thinking of using this recipe: http://thewoksoflife.com/2014/04/shanghai-style-braised-pork-belly/
Does the recipe sound good? Is doing it entirely in a pan the proper way or should I do it in the oven?
bumping for opie since pic related looks tasty as fuk.

well gee, thanks pa.
>>7419974
I've been using that recipe for quite some time. I do it in a heavy bottom pot. Otherwise the oil will get everywhere.
How do I cook chicken thighs on a 5 burner gas grill? I'm brining them for 4 hours and then sprinkling salt/pepper/garlic on them. Do I use direct heat or indirect heat? How should my burners be configured? How long?
Direct heat, medium high flame until the outsides are nicely grilled. Move to indirect heat if they aren't cooked through. Cook until done.
>>7419895
Will that give crispy skin? How hot should the grill be before throwing the chicken on there?
>>7419885
I'd go indirect heat until they hit around 165, then finish them over direct heat with a good final sear to 175.
What's the easiest, most inexpensive way to make espresso at home? I'm tired of paying $$$ for lattes that I can make myself.
aeropress
>>7419792
Its close, but you won't get a true espresso from an aeropress
Goddamn lattes are so good. I just wish they weren't so cliche white America.
Has anyone ever got stuff from this place? My mom wants to get me a package deal as a gift and one for herself but neither of us have any idea what it's like or if it's any good
my mom used to work there, so we'd get the food on a discount. it's really good stuff, worth the price.

Thanks for the response, I will try it out

It's alright, decent enough steaks and burgers. Chicken and pork was also good. Side dishes left some to be desired and the potatoes were alright.
How does /ck/ feel about the donair?
-pita
-spicy meat
-onions
-tomato
-sweet sauce
I live in Malmö sweden so i probably eat "döner" (we just call it kebab), shawarma or falafel at least twice a week for lunch.
Cheap and tasty.
Man nennt es "Döner" und nicht "Don-air" du Kulturbanause.
Döner is simply the name of the meat.
You have to specify how you want it served. The usual in-a-bun way is called Döner Kebab. Putting it into a thin wrap is called Dürüm Döner. Less popular, but actually the most exciting way to eat it is a Lahmacun Döner, when they wrap a "turkish pizza" around the meat.
Picked up some fresh Spanish Mackerel today. Was so damn tasty.
Grilled it up on the ol propane Weber Genesis. Just some olive oil and good sea salt on the skin. Drizzled some shiitake soy sauce over it. Garlic, fresh ginger, soy sauce, shiitake mushrooms and honey heated in a pan until it reached the perfect salty, sweet and savory combination. Heavy on the salty and mushroom savory side.
I have to say that Mackerel is my new favorite fish to cook. Very tasty, oily and rich, but so damn cheap, and easy to cook and prepare,
Canned mackerel is the best because it has some bite to it whereas most other canned fish is just mush
Salmon and Mackerel are my fish of choice because they're both packed with omega 3 and 6 and other essential oils and minerals.
They're also cheaper than dirt and ridiculously tasty.

Looks good OP. Id try marinating it an hour before cooking in olive oil, fresh thyme, tarragon, pepper, minced garlic and lemon juice and zest. Really good.
What's the tastiest animal?
pig
Beef
I like lamb.
I wish we had more 'shit you ate' threads.
I didn't take a pic of my dinner, which I just finished, but anyway..... I made Spicy Salmon Burgers with Green Goddess Coleslaw. Was pretty ace.
I do have a pic of my dinner yesterday, which was fairly unremarkable, but I'll post it in a minute anyway.

I was lazy tonight and made some frozen nuggers that I dipped in BBQ sauce. I also had a couple pieces of multigrain bread that I made this afternoon.
I've got some sirloin marinating in the fridge right now that I plan to grill up tomorrow and make some fajitas. Even made some chipotle salsa to put on them.
>>7418687
That's a pic of a steak burrito filled with grilled steak, grilled poblano peppers and onions, chili - lime sweet potatoes, guacamole, salsa, and lettuce. Messy, but delicious.
Chili edition
5 pounds of ground beef and a pound of ground turkey on deck
I make my chili with corn and beans.
Why the turkey?
cooking the beef in ~1.5 pound batches over medium heat
whose nut-butter does /g/ enjoy most?
pic related
i'm such a whore for Barney. i practically guzzle his salty nut-butter every night.
They all have way too many calories for me to make regularly, but every now and then I'll make a batch of peanut butter for sammiches or almond butter for making almond milk or other smoothies,
Cashew nut butter is probably the best tasting though.
>tfw peanut allergy

do dogs like to lick almond butter? I'm asking for a friend.
