>I don't believe orange juice comes from oranges.
I tried squeezing a fresh orange this morning. Mind was blown. The stuff that came out was waaaay more like lemonade than the stuff they call "orange juice" in the store.
I don't believe there is ANY juice in "Orange juice" anymore. I think it's just another artificial drink like soda. They have a financial incentive. 2 liters of OJ sells for $5, but 2 liters of soda is <$2.

Most fruit juices deteriorate in flavor very rapidly. Juice made fresh that minute is definitely going to be better than juice squeezed two weeks ago.

You'll shit a brick when you find out where milk comes from.

They sterilize and filter it to the point it tastes like nothing, then they add coloring and flavor back in.

Are you eating anything special to celebrate today?

Not anymore
Eating just takes up alcohol space in my stomach
>>7480611
I made a bunch of corned beef but none of my friends want any.
What does /ck/ think of ketchup rice? Gets a bad rep but it's actually underrated and quite good. It's also cheap as hell and better than plain rice
>>7480333
>better than plain rice
except it isn't
I grew up eating hot dog (or Spam) fried rice with scrambled eggs and still make it from time to time.
Scramble cook an egg and remove from the pan and set aside.
Chop up some hot dogs/Spam and a bit of onion.
Put into a cold pan with some oil and set to high heat.
When fragrant, toss about until starting to colour.
Add rice and toss about.
Mix some ketchup with a bit of stock/broth (or even plain water) and add to the pan.
Toss about for the rice to absorb liquid, then off the heat, add the egg and some chopped scallion/green onion and toss to mix.
Serve....

How do make sure my Tendies cook evenly? Whenever I cook them they always stay frozen in the middl, and when I am hunger, if they cook through, they are too hot to eat immediate
Microwave them for half time then finish in the oven

I am not allowed to use oven
I just cooked a pound of polenta but it's like a gallon of volume. Now my entire fridge is stacked top to bottom with polenta. I am an idiot.
There's worse problems to have, brother.
Is it pretentious to call it polenta when it's just cornmeal cooked in water?
>>7480159
Is it pretentious to call it pasta when it's just flour, egg and salt cooked in water?
Is imported food safe?
No.
You're going to get sick and probably die if you eat anything that wasn't grown/raised/produced in your own country.
99% of rice is produced outside the Western world you troglodyte. Where do you think supermarket rice comes from? It's the same exact shit, they just put it in a different bag and charge you for it
>>7480090
No.
Your penis will fall off.
do you ferment your own wine, /ck/?
Nope.
tried it twice but tasted very sour even just after 2 days
maybe someone here knows why?

Do you believe in cooking-related kickstarters?
>>7479810
I believe in any kind of kickstarter that creates a useful product.

A Kickstarter for a cast iron pan?

It WOULD be a good idea if it wasn't 85 fucking dollars
Probably be better to just hop on ebay and find a wagner or something

Hey /ck/, if I buy a knife sharpener, is there any point in buying expensive knives? Surely I could just sharpen the blade into infinity and it'd be just as good as any of those super expensive ones you see in the shops?
>>7479082
There's little point in buying expensive knives in the first place, especially if you're an amateur home cook. Get a victorinox fibrox and your sharpener and call it good for the next few years.
>>7479082
cheaper crappier knives dont take very fine edges, and then less sharp blunter edges they do take dont last as long.
There is a point of diminishing returns once you hit a certain point, but a poor quality knife vs a reasonable high quality knife there is a world of difference.
You want your edge retention to be good, so that way you can rehone your blades edge with a steel quickly. You wont need to actually take the time to resharpen it.
And jesus christ, dont buy a shitty sharpener like that....

Guys I'm looking for a good quality frying pan, I heard about this TV frying pan called Flavor Stone, is it good or just TV shit, if it's shit, which brand would you guys recommend me?
>>7478871
You don't want a brand. Look for a vintage cast iron pan, restore it, and give it a fresh seasoning.
>tv frying pan
>>7478871
I don't trust products I see on TV 90% of the time. If a product is in a commercial or infomercial, it means the company spent a ton of money for advertising and publicity - money they could have used for producing a better product instead. This usually means you're paying more for their brand name and advertisement costs and less for the quality of their product.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some cool stuff advertised out there. But just beware if you did see this on TV, especially if...
