What's up /ck/?
I'm a bit down on my luck and I've only got an electronic frying pan and microwave to cook with.
Since I'm trying to keep my costs low, I want to prepare pinto beans in the microwave since my frying pan is not deep enough. Do any you have experience doing this?
Thanks in advance and feel free to share other microwave recipes!!
>>7587447
What exactly are you asking, OP? You working with dry beans or canned?
If they're canned the microwave will work fine to reheat them. If you have dry beans it's going to be impractical since they have a very long cooking time.
>>7587458
No.
If theyre dried beans you can soak them in cold/room temp water in a container overnight to rehydrate them. Then you can use them in either of your appliances.
You can also braise dry beans, op. But you'll have to let them cook for quite some time, so soaking them is better for your situation.
Sorry things are tough currently. Life will only get worse until we embrace the void.
>>7587465
Even soaked beans take a very long time to cook compared to the duty cycle of a microwave.

Is "beer drunk" different than "wine drunk" or "whisky drunk?" I hear otherwise intelligent people talking about this shit all the time, and I don't buy it.
It's easier to get whiskey drunk than wine drunk because you can drink more volume of whiskey in the same time span than beer
Drunk is drunk at the end of the day but you get certainly get shit faced much faster with a bottle of whiskey than you can with a case of beer.
If you consume whiskey faster than beer you get to a new level of drunk much quicker.
It's mostly a question of speed like the other guy said, and hydration which is somewhat related
I dunno if you kids know the phrase "set and setting" but it used to be a key concept when abusing chemicals back in my day, and it's true of alcohol too.
People tend to assume the mood of whatever they associate the drink with. Retards associate tequila with binge drinking and irresponsible behavior, they associate wine with romanticism, and so on. So their mood when drunk is influenced by their expectation of the experience, not to mention the...

Beverages with different apv being drunk in different ways at different speeds.
Also the preconceived notions people have about different drinks. Placebo is one hell of a drug.

Why is your bread perfectly square?
Haven't seen one of these, so I'm starting one.
I have two stupid questions. I'll ask one first, and follow with the other in another post.
(This is the simpler of the two). If I have some sweet potatoes that have sprouted little vines, they are now inedible, or can you trim all that off and still eat the remainder?
Pic unrelated, just grabbed a food related pic from my file.
You can trim the vines. Nothing's gonna happen.
And question two.
I have to use an electric smoker, because we can't have open fire grills or smokers in my rental.
It's a Brinkman, and while I've gotten very good at using it, I usually only do one kind of meat at a time, mainly because you have to have one piece of meat stacked above the other on a separate rack. Next weekend, I want to smoke both pulled pork and pastrami.
I'm assuming the pork should be on the bottom, and the pastrami on top, or will the cured juices from the pastrami ruin my pulled pork?
It's my birthday today, what should I buy for lunch or dinner?

Help with Chicken Tikka Masala
I've made several recipes, most of which call for a 28oz can of tomato puree. Each time I make it to specification, the masala taste far too tomatoey. My last attempt I cut the tomato puree in half, but still required 2 cups of cream to 14oz of tomato puree in order to reduce the concentration of the tomato. I also added a splash of olive oil, sugar, and salt in order to reduce the tomato concentration. No matter what recipe I find online, all I taste is tomato when I follow it. Can anyone give me some advice on a solid recipe to replicate...

I'm wondering what recipe you are following.
Here in Britain, our definition of Puree, Paste, Passata, sauce, is different to America.
You offset Tomatoes with sugar, you know that right? . .. for a CTM - I would be tempted to use sweetened condensed milk.
>>7586974
Are you using concentrated tomato pure paste when the recipe calls for pasata?
Goddamnit, I love me some of that bean burritas.
