I grew up with overcooked meat. My grandpa was a boot bohunk in Minneapolis and worked as a butcher. He took home all of the nearly spoiled meat and would basically burn everything, hoping no one would get sick. So it turned into a family preference. When you grow up eating well done meat, it's really hard to stomach the idea of eating anything pink.

lived in Japan for a few years. i was always a picky eater, but being a broke student, I didn't have much choice. was mostly pleasantly surprised.

Hey /ck/ I am curious about what your secret ingredients are in your favorite recipes, or if there is some recipe that you make and add just a bit of something that makes it much better.
I put just a pinch of smoked paprika in scrambled eggs and one of white pepper in mashed potatoes. I also steam my vegetables in stock.

For one, they say it's dangerous to human health and the environment. For another, raising/farming it is both cheap and easy, so there's no reason it should ever cost as much as it does in some stores.
There's no reason it should ever cost more than a buck or two per pound, depending on if you buy it filleted or whole.
Farmed tilapia (which, let's be honest, is the vast, vast, vast, vast, VAST majority of tilapia sold anywhere) has barely any flavour to it. It's got a neutral taste.
