someone convince me not to drink soda
I've been off for 3 months but now I'm home alone for a few weeks and I have the biggest craving to buy a 12 pack of coke or drpepper and just binge
I didn't drink soda for a few years, I just recently decided to drink some again, but only on occasions like if I need a coke to stay awake or a sprite to clear up my stomach.
you just need to ween off it, and substitute with iced tea with a little bit of sugar. That's how I did it, now I can drink iced tea with no sugar at all.
Sup /ck/. The tl;dr of the situation is that I'm poor as shit and trying to make it through a month and a half with the food I have on hand and posting it here to distract myself. Yesterday's thread: >>7709304
Today I decided to make one of these PREMIUM USDA CERTIFIED ANGUS eye of tound etc.'s that I got 3 for 7 dollars (sure it's cheap but ANGUS means good, right?) and some rice. But that's far too simple of a meal, far far too simple. So I've decided to make sushi rice...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Well first things first, I'm leaving the meat out to come to room temperature
Next is the rice. The sushi rice recipe that I have right now is for 2 cups, so I'm making four so that I can use some to make fried rice tomorrow. My thinking is that it will be easy to take 2 cups of rice out of the cooker by just dividing what comes out in half and adding that half to the recipe
I live in Hawaii, it's the way things are.
Hey CK what do you use garlic/onion powder for? Do they belong in a serious cook's arsenal?
/ck/ I may have fucked up.
My roommate is a swedefag and made a bunch of semla buns covered to rise. I ate one of them raw about an hour ago and I'm experiencing a lot of stomach discomfort. Am I gonna die?

ITT we post the dish we'd make if we were having a chick over and wanted to get some action.
I'd probably just do a simple roasted chicken with some roasted potatoes and green beans. I'd just time it so the chicken was more or less done by the time they got here and I could have her help out with the sides or to make the pan jus.
What else would /ck/ make if they were trying to get laid?
I invited this really high class woman over to my mom's house. I don't have a hot plate or anything in the basement so I made PB&J with the crusts cut off. The night ended in sheer ecstasy and bliss (once the roofies kicked in).
>travel across the country
>all the food is shit
You don't want to know the things they are doing to "Mexican food" up in Virginia.
I need a quick tip to stay awake, it's 4:23am here where I live, and I plan on staying up all night, go to work, and then sleep when I get back. Can't grab coffee and I can't get out and buy an energy drink. How to stay awake?
I just won the big game and I need some tasty celebratory recipes my cheerleader gf can make me.
Anyone else here that actually likes veggie burgers? I'm not even vegetarian but I like them from time to time. I bought pic related for the first time tonight. I usually stick with Morningstar or Boca but these were on sale.
I love veggie burgers. Granted I'm vegetarian, so I don't know if I'd still eat them if I went back to meat, but they definitely satisfy the craving and don't taste like shit. Harvey's makes a pretty good veggie burger, and as far as grocery-brand I've only ever tried Yves, which is alright.
Now veggie hotdogs, on the other hand, are an abomination.
I just got back from the KFC drive-thru, and ordered the five dollar box with tendies, and wedges instead of mashed potatoes. But when I opened the box, I had mashed potatoes!
Do you have one?
If yes how often do you wash it? I'm talking about a proper dismantling and washing every part with soap (except for the filter obviously).
What are some simple things you like to eat?
I like eating sandwiches made with honey roast ham and thin cut slices of granny smith apples.
Obviously not cut like in the picture, more like tomato slices.
why the fuck did you not just get a picture that suited your description?
I would like to cook a fun dinner for 7 people (friends and family). I was thinking chicken parmesan using mozzarella cheese and a premium tomato sauce. I was also considering a chicken and steak barbecue but I thought it would be too boring. Do you guys have any ideas on how to make the barbecue more fun or any other good ideas for a fun dinner for 7? Money is not an issue. Thanks.
pic unrelated. I like dogs.
sorry, but that sounds absolutely awful. steak cuts are much better suited to quick, high cooking like with a grill, pan, or broiler, rather than the low and slow method used in barbecue. If you barbecue a steak, you're just gonna be halfway between steak and jerky, and it won't be good. Barbecue chicken is good, but you have to make sure you don't add too much smoke.
How does one make the perfect pan cooked burger? Dry or moist. Medium or well-done ?
85/15 ground beef formed into a patty and seasoned liberally with salt and pepper. Put it in a hot pan with no extra fat. When the brown starts creeping up the sides flip it over and continue cooking to your desired doneness. I do medium rare if it's decent meat, medium if it's cheap, 100 cows in a bite, type stuff.
Moist, cooked to medium/medium-well.
At the risk of being branded as some heretic, I mix a heaping tablespoon of beefstock powder into a pound of 80/20 ground beef rather than salt. Then I form my patties, get my pan hot, cook one side, flip, top with sautéed mushrooms and onions and a slice of cheese then remove to a bun, two slices of sandwich bread or two slices of toast and consume.
