What is your hungover food?
Only thing I can keep down is Jalapenos and Tuna I mash together.
I don't remember the last time I had a hangover, but when I'm drunk Taco Bell is my go to. If I am hungover, a big ole' jug of gatorade is a must.
hello /CK/, I just ordered 4oz of menthol to mess with for the week,I have a few questions though. My first one is 100% menthol crystals food safe? Or do I need to buy a certain kind. Second one is how much in oz when baking, say, 1 pound of icing for teaspoon sized cookies should I use of the menthol when mixing, I would think no more than 1oz since its so strong.

Is it sacrilege to freeze any uncooked steaks?
It seems like it would be but I am meh tier in the kitchen.
I bet you a billion dollars most steaks you buy at the supermarket came in to the store frozen. Not sure if would matter if you froze it later.
In fact my grandfather used to buy in bulk at the butcher and freeze them up for later use. We never complained.
I dunno proper steak etiquette outside of never going above medium at the highest.
I'm used to cheap pleb steaks which are tasty enough, but I'd like to try a really nice steak for once so I'm going to get some USDA prime.
Gonna broil them and google so I don't fuck em up, I just dunno if freezing some will lower their quality to shit levels?

Just made a ribeye, bone in. Turned out very well but I had to cut it into a few different pieces to cook through how I wanted it.
I don't want to do that again.
So, give your tips:
- how hot is the pan when you drop the steak
- how long do you let the steak sit out in room temp
- how do you test what the inside is like without cutting into the meat
I'm pretty good at cooking in general but I can't get the hang of steaks.

Around 450. This is just a guess. It's a very hot, and the oil just starts to smoke
If I've got the time I'd do it 90 minutes ahead, then after 90 minutes, start getting everything ready and make it.
I'm not sure if you know this, but the "sear in the juices" kinda thing isn't how steaks work. A nice little single use gadget is an instant read thermometer....

Get pan rip roarin hot. Wet hand and splash water into the pan, if the water beads, then the pan is correct temp. Pour olive oil (not virgin) into pan, then immediately add steak.
I cook each side once. Google steak doneness test using the palm of your hand, it works very well.
Add a knob of butter and baste the top while it cooks. Once it's done, dont forget to let it rest.

I got keked then divorced by my wife. She took everything, including all my money and cookware. All I have left is a stockpot and a smaller pan. She left me exactly one fork and one spoon and one knife.
Last night I lucked out at Winco and found large hams marked down to $2 a piece, so I got three of them. I have various canned vegetables to go with this, plus a bag of potatoes and some flour so I can make bread.
So I thought I would cut them up and make A LOT of sandwiches and pretty much live off those for awhile... Unfortunately, I cut these hams open and they have an excess of gristle and bones which I did not expect.
There is still some good meat in them, so I will set those aside for sandwiches.
Still, what is good to make with the fatty bits? Also, general ham recipes?
