/ck/ I need your suggestions on cured meats to serve when people come over for the holidays. What are your favorites? Bonus points for cheeses to match.

Don't be a chump, if your mom buys something for you then your proper response should be to say thank you.

Remindes me of myself going to clubs in NYC when I was in high school, chicks would grab my butt cheeks. Good times were had by all.

Opinions on supermarket sushi?
weab shiit
>>7131356
>mfw my local supermarket puts brown rice and french's fried onions in their "sushi"
It's fucking disgusting, even by supermarket pre-made standards.
>>7131356
On the same level as supermarket sandwiches
Sup ck
pretty good for four bucks
Post receipt

What do you think of this garlic bread, /ck/?
>>7131192
Looks tasty as fuck.

>Decadent
it's when there's a food you really shouldn't eat
but you say "fuck it, i'll be bad!" and eat it anyways.
>>7130922
it's supposed to connote luxurious excess, but in practice it connotes cheap processed junk food for poor people, full of chemicals and preservatives
inb4 flyovers defend this

>talking shit on swiss rolls
kill ya'self
So I read a blog on flours which pretty much said that every wholewheat flour goes bad in 24 hours.
So even if you buy some organic stone grind flour it will go rancid in a days time and it's best to buy a home mill and make your own flour.
Is there any truth to this or is it the latest meme article urging you to make everything yourself at home or due a horrible death from cancer?
>every time i've ever used whole wheat flour it was rancid and i never realized it
Sounds legit.
>24 hours
no
>is there any truth to this
yes
all whole grains have a much shorter shelf life than refined grains
most people think the rancid smell of spoiled fats is normal, whereas in fact it's only normal if "normal" to you means buying rancid, albeit fully edible food from the supermarket
asians will exhibit the same attitudes about brown rice vs white rice
>>7130918
>asians will exhibit the same attitudes
dats racist
Okay /ck/, the shit has gone down and I'm going to be losing a lot of money over the next several months. I'm an alright cook but I need to know some good staples to live off of. What should I hoard, what are some good pauper recipes? No Iceland or prepackaged shit unless it's insanely cheap and keeps.
Beans and rice is the answer you're gonna, just like every other thread like this
>>7130808
Deal in bulk and freeze applicable things. Soups and broths to pad out meals.
Typical dutch food. How can people eat this shit? Is there any decent cuisine in netherland or what? Post examples.
It's delicious
Both as a snack and especially as drunk food
No different then going to your local 7-11, Quickcheck, Publix, Wawa, etc. and ordering their greasiest fried concoction
>>7130704
They're okay. I mean, if you're going to shit on Dutch food, at least show us a bamiebal or something. Those things are vile.
As for dutch cuisine: it's mostly stamppots.
>>7130715
Also: licorice. Fuck that stuff.
Does anyone have that problem where their family are not just picky, but incredibly narrow in the food they want to eat?
Like I'm expected to bring food to gatherings but... Well here are examples.
One yeah I bought dips. Hummus (one person objected because they didn't like garlic even though there was barely any in it), cashew cheese (it was eww until I explained it was cashews and then suddenly it was tasty), pate (literally everyone refused to try it).
One year I made glazed ham and nobody would eat the skin even though that was the best part.

they're probably just trying to be as nice to you while avoiding your badly cooked "food"
You have a good concept of what they won't like but make it anyway. That would seem to be your problem.
I fucking hate when people refuse to try food. It's cool if you don't like it, but I have friends who will come over for dinner or go to a restaurant and refuse to try anything. I made jambalaya once and my roommate who has never had it or anything like it just kept repeating "no, I won't like it, I know I won't like it" even though I swear I've seen her eat all of the ingredients of it individually at some point. She just said no based on the fact she'd never had it before. Same deal with sushi, omelettes, any food of mexican origin,...

My roommate and I made some rough decisions Black Friday. The result is going to be a period of famine. Ramen was purchased to help whether the storm.
What are good additions to make Ramen more substantial/delicious? I hard-boiled some eggs tonight for the first time to try that out tomorrow. Scrambled egg was really good but I can't arrange that at work.
>i'm going to switch to a diet consisting of nothing but starch and salt because i bought things i couldn't afford
>>7130643
For another week and a half at least, basically, but I'm more interested in what to add so that I'm not just consuming starch and salt.
Also, I'm sure that if we can have fast-food debates there're people on /ck/ eating Ramen all the time..
>>7130650
i hope that new TV was worth it, friend
you can improve the variety and flavor of instant ramen by adding real meat, but I doubt you can afford it.
Is there a way I can prepare raw salmon that ensures it's safe to eat?
cook it
By cooking it
Try 'cooking' it
Anyone getting anything food-related for Christmas?
I'm going to guess that anyone who has this absolutely loves Game of Thrones

How would I know what I'm getting? Wait, don't tell me you ASK for specific presents?????
Can we get a list of the best German foods preferably around the Munich area but any part is fine. Anything from fast food to street food to high end cuisine.
Ritter Sport Knusperflakes
Currywurst and pommes frites with mayo or pommes sauce (which is still basically mayo).

>Knusperflakes
Solid, but Rum Trauben Nuss is superior.

'puckin purray.
This is your daily reminder that MSG and aspertame have no negative side effects on the human body. Any scientific study trying to call it "unhealthy" has been disproven.
My mom's uncle was on the team that developed aspertame.
I have been looking for it in stores for a while and can't find it
also know what I miss? chips with olestra
a greasy butthole is a small price to pay to be able to eat as many chips as I want without thinking twice about it.

>This is your daily reminder that MSG and aspertame have no negative side effects on the human body.
Except that they allow you to derive satisfaction from not very nutritious foods. Over time that could become a problem.
How do I make the best gotdang ginger snaps?
>>7130427
These things, but without the nuts.
I love sliceable cookies. They're so fun and easy.

I also add chinese five spice or cayenne sometimes.
Put ice cream between them

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of potash being used in food before.
I wouldn't even know where to get some.
