I was wondering if anyone liked cute fashion in general or had their own style rather than following a set of rules? My own style in mind is definitely inspired by many jfashions but it's not really anything specific and I don't want people into jfashion to call me a weeb or special snowflake when I really just want to sort of do my own thing, if that makes sense.
>>
>>8961632
Fashion doesn't always have a category. it's fun to wear general cute/fun clothes without needing to give it a name and a particular aesthetic. Just wear what you like. I feel like that's what makes the western Jfash community so weirdly rigid, we're always trying to fit into a set of rules instead of shooting for an aesthetic instead. I also think that's why a lot of people miss the mark no matter how hard they try, because they're going for particulars and not feeling it out. As long as you're cohesive, your clothes have the right "feeling" to them and you're not wearing cheap low quality shit then do what you like.

I often wear clothes that are my own style. I've been doing it since I was allowed to pick out my own clothes, long before I knew anything about J-fashion. J-fashion has influenced me to go for more girly and overly-cute elements in my outfits now though.

Anyway, my point is that yeah, you're not the only one who has their own style.
>>
I'm the same, but there are times when I want to wear a specific style but I'm so afraid of accidentally missing a point or something so I always write/say [insert style]-inspired as a cheap-out

I'd say most people on /cgl/ like cute fashion in general, due to the sheer amount of non-substyle specific items posted in taobao/ebay/ali/mail threads. And cute casual threads.

Also thank you for not starting with "Am I the only one who..."

oh my god that store is really really the style I want to get into, but I'm a fuckin' noob and everything's in japanese... I have never had anything from here click, but god I want to buy everything.

are there any more stores like that? or how do I buy from their store? what is this style called? It looks so comfy cute.

Thanks anons! Yeah, I'm not trying to invent a new style and post it everywhere and shove it down people's throats (like the shit show that is "party kei"). I just want to wear what I like and find aesthetically pleasing on the dl rather than stick to one specific fashion. Currently my outfits are "___-kei inspired" haha

Anyway now that my question has been answered this is now a general cute fashion thread
>>
Fashion isn't something concrete. People fall between styles and fuse styles and create their own styles. I often dress in a style that's cult party kei inspired (ex: shabby chic with red accents) but definitely not full on cult party kei

Gonna do a small dump of some pictures I have then! All the threads I follow are dead and unconstructive. Been thinking about leaving because 4chan isn't really my thing anyway but I'll stick around a bit longer for this thread because I like seeing casual clothes that are still cute and distinctive. I hope I have some good pictures that are inspiring rather than repetitive! Most of mine are a bit old. I need to clean through my J-fash inspo folder.

My style is a mish mash of j fash influence, leftovers from a pastel-obsessed childhood that gravitates toward fairy kei, teen years of vkei/emo faggotry, gothic lolita influence (lace, fishnet, bows) and whatever nerdy weeb/game-related shit (a lot of pokemon, kingdom hearts and ghibli tees) I can find. It's always black and pastels or black and bold colours like red, yellow, neon pink or purple.

I love wearing lolita headbows and tights with casual outfits. Always having a bow or something in my hair has been my thing since 2003 when I first saw lolita headdresses. I'm not majorly into kitsuke but have a few pieces and wear kanzashi with regular clothes. Not claiming any of this is 'stylish' or even tasteful.

I guess I'm your typical annoying weeb Claire's-fag forever stuck in 2005-2009

My personal style isn't anything like yours and I'm not a fan of it, but we sound like we probably have a lot in common. My style is also influenced by my childhood (which was also pastel obsessed and a mix of 80's and 90's influence), J-fashion, a little touch of punk / rock, and videogames. And I feel like I'm stuck in the past myself.

My other influences are: nature (this is probably my biggest influence), fairy tales and stories, retro and vintage fashion trends, and history.

Obviously these influences don't show up in my clothes all at the same time, but those are the things that inspire my fashion choices. On the average day, I'm dressed very casual though, and it rarely looks particularly influenced by J-fashion or out of the norm. But J-fashion is only a small part of my life and I just wear what makes me happy and comfortable without trying to fit into a particular group. I just do my own thing.

Then again, some of the J-fashion outfits I have wouldn't have looked particularly J-fashion to me had I not found them through J-fashion websites, so maybe it's in the eye of the beholder at the end of the day.

Sorry for the big blog post, gonna dump a couple more pics and then call it good.

this is literally what 'Harajuku fashion' is tho. It was never sub styles to begin with, it was just people pissing around with weird/cute/creepy/dark whatever shit they wanted to. If it's harajuku inspired, it's probably harajuku-kei/jfashion. The sub styles are only really sub styles bc they have 'cultures' that go with them i.e specific stores, meet up styles, online forums, fashion rules, cafes ect. The rest is just do w/e the fuck u wanna do

I love having an oversized baggy torso paired with bare knees. It's so cute and comfy. Yume-kawaii has quickly risen to become one of my faves. It's simple, cutesy pastel - what Fairy Kei used to be. Nowadays, it's pastel Decora but hopefully someday it'll tone down a bit.

I get what OP is saying, and agree with anons that that is just fashion/street fashion in general.

I love following various jfash substyles, but have never really committed myself to any particular one because on myself, I've always felt any particular style is a bit "much."

I love mori for the earth-y tones and patterns, but the overall loose clothing doesn't work on my body, so I take i inspiration from mori by incorporating earth palettes and patterns when I feel like it. A lot of times I take inspired pieces of clothing and just dress it down in jeans or up in a skirt or dress. It all depends on my mood for the day.

Currently I'm really inspired by newtora in anime and manga from the 80s-90s. A lot of the silhouettes and pieces are being echoed today in normie wear and casual jfashion.

I'll dump a few from a manga I'm currently reading.
>>
>>8966306
I'm trying to find 3d pics of new tora but it'sa but difficult as it's in older magazines and those just seem to be harder for me to locate on the internet.

I'm also currently really inspired by a lot of the Sailor Moon series' casual styles.
>>
>>8966312
A lot of what I find reminds me of older pictures of my mom from the 80s. I don't want to say for sure in case I'm wrong but 80s asian fashion seems to be soemwhat different from it being done in the west.
>>
>>8966319
Most of the 3d stuff I find is old idol stuff. I wish I could find scans of old JJ and CanCam issues, or even some for sale, I'd buy.
>>
>>8966323
And I'll end the dump with some Sailor Moon fashion.
>>
>>8961632
I tend to just wear what I think looks good or is convenient/appropriate for the day without trying to follow the "rules" of a certain style. My main inspirations are actually brands, mostly ETC, JM, LG, IW, ank rouge, axes femme, earth, music and ecology, f.i.n.t and olive des olive.

Question for people posting in casual cute threads:
Why do you post pictures in this thread instead of the respective style? Some of the outfits here are actually just cute, not for a specific style, but the majority quite obviously falls into larme/fairy kei/gyaru/creepy cute/etc. Why not make a thread for that style or contribute to the already existing one instead of dumping them all in here?

Stuff like >>8963047, >>8963050, >>8963075, >>8963136, >>8963138, etc. are obviously distinct styles.
>>
>>8966455
Cos some people just collect pics of things they find cute and don't necessarily consider themselves interested in a certain style enough to post in specific threads. For example, I might not be a fan of lolita but I have one or two cute lolita coords saved on my laptop cos I thought they were cute. Doesn't mean I am interested in lolita.

I posted all the outfits you tagged, and to answer your question, they are fairly ambiguous and casual. I feel they could either fit into multiple categories or have elements that make them stand out from the typical look their respective "style" has. Also, creepy-cute is more of a theme than a style. And since many people do create outfits with named styles in min, it's hard to find outfits that don't have any elements that can place them into a category.

no way, there's way too many of them. i used to be on tumblr a lot and people run entire blogs devoted to posting affiliate links, pretending it's a fashion shopping blog or whatever. last time i went on tumblr there were posts warning people that the sites were sending out poor quality items that didn't fit properly, no shit idiots what do you expect for a cheaply made shirt from china where the shop steals item images from other sites

And yet the taobao thread will always get replies

I've had pretty good luck with taobao. And now that they have customer images it's even easier to weed out the crap.

Sometimes I look at the hauls people post in the taobao thread and can just tell from the stock images that they're going to get some cheap crap. It's all about developing a discerning eye.

Those Chinese sites designed to sell to westerners are even worse because they know their clientele is an ocean away and can't do anything when something goes wrong. Sellers on taobao at least have to deal with domestic complaints. (Seller and buyer fights on taobao are absolutely hilarious to read)

Thanks for telling me. What Japanese sites do you usually find cute outfits on?
>>
>>8990617
Does anyone know where I can find this jumper? I did a reverse image search but it just took me to the original blog, and they haven't mentioned a source. I'm just desperate to find a conversation heart jumper that isn't edgy negative phrases

It looks like a fuzzy sweater with a blouse worn under it.

Sadly, I rarely ever do find Japanese sites with cute outfits because I don't read Japanese at all. So if I stumble onto one it's usually through another person.

Taobao is actually pretty nice since it is cheap and you get what you pay but overpriced resellers & their promoters are just filthy. I don't understand how can someone get low enough to promote shit quality stuff just because they get it for free...
Does anyone know any blog with honest reviews rather than mindless promoting?
