Are there any rumors on when NYCC tickets might go on sale? While I appreciate the fan verification thing, I think the two day warning is a bit ridiculous and short. It would have been better if it was at least a week.

Also, why do they go on sale later every year?
>>
Reed Pop is doing more and more cons every year, so that why its getting later and later. 2 days is nothing considering last year there was a 23 hour notice for the physical tickets ion sale at Midtown Comics. Also less notice gives scalpers less time to organize.
>>
Wait are NYCC tickets super hard to get or something? Didn't know there were conventions like that.

I went to the first one when I lived in NJ like 10 years ago.. Holy shit it's been a long time..
>>
>>9071674
>Wait are NYCC tickets super hard to get or something?
They've shot up, yeah. Not one of the most difficult ones to get too, but it's certainly getting harder to get them each year.
>>
>>9071674
Yep, nowadays they sell out in under an hour during the online window from when they go on sale
>>
Heads up, I just got my email that they're going on sale Wednesday at noon. So it's happening then, check your emails for your links.
>>
Bump for the new update. Check your email
>>
start praying to the NYCC gods now folks
>>
Fuck this is my first time. This is stressful as hell
>>
>>9071674
same, I checked my badge collection and I went in 2008&2010 but haven't gone since. looking on wiki last year was over 170k so I guess so
>>
>>9073023
all the good tickets(4/3/Sat) sell out well within 15 or so minutes. 3 days for the last few years sell out insanely fast

I have a theory that tickets might be somewhat easier to get this year, of course assuming you properly filled out your Fan Verification. The fact that they extended the deadline by one day, despite having like a 3 week notice for it, makes me think that they didn't get quite as big a turnout for this as expected. Especially considering there are no retailers anywhere selling tickets, nor Special Edition NYC. What happened to that anyway, was that only a vessel to sell NYCC tickets, so it didn't happen this year because of this?

Anyway, with these "extra tickets" going into the online sales, and the fact that they had to extend the deadline, it makes me think there is going to be somewhat less people buying tickets. Now, I don't think it'll be easy still, but it should hopefully be better than last year.

I must say I find it a shame there won't be VIP tickets this year, I was saving up to go for that.
>>
I honestly have little faith that the Fan Verification will help to stop the chaos. There's still going to be a fair amount of scalpers that will slip through (and probably end up selling the passes for even more), and the general size of the con grows every year.

I just hope the servers can handle the load this time, as I ended up only getting a Friday pass due to connection issues. Though in all honesty, I'd settle for anything this year, hell even a Thursday.
>>
>>9074716
Nah, the tickets would be tied up for fifteen minutes or so, but still available, when people timed-out or lost connections.

>>9074869
The first day had bugs with the system, so that's why it was just extended one day, instead of a week or whatevs
>>
>>9075029
>when people timed-out or lost connections.
people were still buying them at that time, not everybody timed out. 3 days were gone well within 15-20 minutes of it going live.
>>9074903
It wont, all its gonna give you is an extra 5 minutes since they'll have more tickets available because no comic retailer camp outs or stuff like that
>>
About how many tickets do they typically give to retailers? I wouldn't imaging it's much, no more than 5,000-10,000 total I would assume? And even that doesn't sound right. I feel like any tickets that are going back into online orders wouldn't be that much to cause a considerable difference among 170,000+ people.
>>
>>9075270
I got mine last year an hour after they went live, so you're wrong on that. Tickets were held while someone was doing an order, after the order, the unsought tickets would be released back into the system. The same with people who timed-out or lost their connections.

You get to the cart, the system automatically blocked out a set number of tickets for you, until you purchased them. That's why some people it showed sold out, but if you refreshed it, it would change to available for some people.

They even discussed this after the fiasco last year about how the system worked, because people were complaining about how they were able to get tickets, but others were still getting tickets after the cart showed they were sold out.
>>
>>9075317
Well last year it was only Midtown, so I'd guess around 5K at the most, but probably not that. That's going extreme. They were able to sell more badges last year, due to getting Hammerstein, so they were able to go above the Fire Marshall's estimate of the number of people safely in Javits, and this year NYCC is in three locations for the con itself. F the Super Week events!
>>
>>9075381
Super Week is a fucking joke, I really can't believe they keep pushing it.
>>
>>9075374
you got very lucky then, the few people i talked to online said it was sold out 20 minutes in.
>>
>still using showclix after the clusterfuck that was the last few years
fuck you lance and fuck you reedpop
>>
Do tickets go on sale at 12 tonight?
>>
>>9075703
Nope, tomorrow at noon, eastern time.
>>
>>9075556
I know a lot of people who got tickets past the 20-30 minute mark, without having to resort to Midtown or the ticket resellers

>>9075576
Why? You do know ReedPop actually owns that site, right? They pay themselves the fee to handle tickets, then bill themselves a high ass amount and at the end of the year write it off as a business expense.
>>
Why the hell did they pop it on us so short notice? I don't get paid until Thursday and I'm not going to have enough money on me by tomorrow. I'm really pissed.
>>
>>9075837
then they are very lucky because the people I talked to said it was all sold out by 15-20 minutes and stayed that way despite them refreshing fairly often
>>
Fuck i dont know whether to stay up till 12 noon or to sleep now and hope i wake at 7:00
>>
How much are midtown sellers?
>>
>>9075837
reedpop owns showclix? thats news to me
>>9076133
there arent any this year, its either today online or you wait for the scalpers
>>9076132
just set an alarm, I've got about 4 set around my room for 11:30
>>
>>9075920
life isn't fair. You got more warning than last year (23 hours). Learn to save, many people have been slowly dropping funds into a account or whatever waiting for NYCC badges to drop. $115 (or whatever) isn't a lot if you saved $5 a week or a month or whatever since the last con, but trying to get it within the next 48 hours if you're living check-by-check can be a bitch
>>
>>9076318
Yep, back when ShowClix was first used, during the first Special Edition, the site used to have ReedPop's contact info, before they changed it.

Sure ain't. I know how to save, but I just moved into a new place so this came at the worst time. I would have had money saved up if all of it hadn't gone to first/last rent, cable installation, moving truck, etc. I just wish it would have gone on sale a little later.

Anyone else having difficulty editing their verification info? I completed my order and all that shit, but Showclix won't let me insert my email and change that info, only my name.
>>
boy am i disappointed
>>
So what was the point of fan verification?
>>
>>9076797
>You MUST assign each Ticket to an individual person who filled out a Fan Verification profile starting Thursday, June 30 at 12:00 PM EDT.

Its weird but I think you have to wait till tomorrow?
>>
Stupidly tried to edit my cart when I put the wrong ticket amount in, proceeded to be booted back to queue beginning. That was over an hour ago. Lets talk about why NYCC is garbage

Unique URLs stopped extreme lag
The fan verification thing is gonna make it harder for them to sell the tickets since every ticket needs to be connected to an account
All in all, with less people seeing the update the tickets sold put slower.
I got a 3-day ticket in half an hour, when last year the tickets sold out in 15 minutes

Is it a better idea to just buy 3 days for $150 or wait for scalpers? Also if I just got in queue 15 mins ago what are the chances I'll even get any single day passes?

None of my group got in on time to get their own tickets either

Anyone else having trouble updating info on the showclix page? I'm trying to change my mailing address (not shipping address) that I had filled out during fan verification but it won't let me, when I click "submit" it says "phone is required" even though I have that filled out. I also can't do anything to the "this ticket is for a(n):" field. Just shows up as "submit" and "cancel", no other option.
