Understatement of the century. Barely anyone had any relevant shit. I assume its our weak ass dollar but everything worth buying was ridiculous overpriced (+$100 over online) and everything not worth buying was fucking everywhere and still overpriced (FUCK YOU POP FIGURES GET OUT RHEEEE)
Kancolle photoshoot sucked ass. More like MANtai Collection. I get if one or two people think they're a comedy genius by dressing like a girl but basically every Kancolle was a dude and their costumes sucked.
Also if you're going to watch a photoshoot get the FUCK out of the way of people that actually have cameras. Without fail there's always some 300lb dude playing nintendoDS in front row primo photographer spot or some ass sitting down listening to headphones in the middle of the crowd. Seriously fuck you and fuck off.

Yeah, the Dealer's Room seemed smaller this year. Probably because there was more aisle spacing and less tables, which always bites.
Was cosplaying a Final Fantasy character this year and the shoot turnouts blew for numbers. Cool costumes, but not a lot of people.

Its just the slow spread from cosplay, to everything else. The non-anime to anime panel ratio was in favor of non anime this year.

I had a really great time this year but holy hell the heat really ruined things. I usually have a good time hanging around outside just relaxing and people-watching but I practically ran from building to building this year to avoid the intense heat. The heat really drains your energy too so I felt pretty exhausted the whole time.
Really loved this Godoka cosplay. Her wings and skirt lit up at night.

Good technique for the heat was to spend half an hour in IP hallways for every hour outside when making the cosplay photoshoot hunting rounds outside on Saturday. They also always have free cold water around which was good.

Too many Pop figures indeed, felt like FanExpo. Wish the dealer room was setup like FanExpo though so its long rows in stead of squares of tables which are easy to get lost in.
Guy who manages Evangelion photoshoot every year still insists on using high contrast are for background = terrible photos. But someone figured out to ask cosplayers to pose again in better area after each pose but it turned out to be too annoying to keep up.

Here's the problem with the majority of anime costumes, if you want to use them at any other con they suck. There I said it. These guys could take their ghostbusters costumes to any con and everyone can easily recognize and appreciate them. If you want to go to a comic con dressed as some character from Slayers or something nobody knows who the hell you're supposed to be. The league of legends costumes were better than most of the anime ones.

A lot of the sexuality stuff is part of Yaoi north, and they go a completely different direction with their programming. Yaoi North, Gaming North and Doll North are all kind of their own thing that are supported by AN. Less Weeb but I had a ton of fun last year. Close to lots of nice outside activities (hikes etc) in hamilton as well. A bunch of us went to Webster's Falls to take photos in costume, go swimming and hiking and all that. Was a great time.
For sure check out the Imporv Workshop, the 404s did it last year and it was fantastic. Lots of the anime north artists will be there as it's standard for them to do the circuit.
They had a lot of the same attractions (battle archery, tea party). I'd say it's worth it.

Yeticon posted their schedule and more information. Looks like a decent substitute for APOP this year in terms of the parties and some of the events and has a very heavy cosplay focus. I think this is one of those cons that will be fun if you find the right group of people to hang out with and make your own fun.
I'm going with a bunch of friends as a mini-vacation. Even if the con itself turns out to be crap, I think I'll enjoy the pools and trails.

they actually had a full hoshido and nohr family which was nice to see. the hoshido royals had great costumes. camilla was lacking for nohr, but their elise and leo certainly made up for it.

Wondering if anyone had any problems with Crowne? They gave my room away after insisting I booked it for the wrong dates. I would argue that you shouldn't be randomly buying figures anyway, to avoid impulse buying. But yeah, it does suck for new buyers. I wish cons were would stricter with people who sell that stuff. Speaking of which, the yaoi guy in the dealer's room was selling mystery bags for $1 on Sunday, but the contents were legit a couple pieces of hard candy. I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to sell food in the Dealer's, let alone that it's a scummy thing to do when people rightfully assume the mystery bags are filled with the table's wares.
