Actually the SJ depot is a few blocks away from the convention center so you wouldn't even need a pickup by the time you got there...
So I paid for my badge, but I didn't get a confirmation email, and I was 99% sure that when I signed up there was a spot to "edit membership", but now the page is completely revamped so I can't get to it. But it says that I have duplicate information if I try to sign up.

quick question for those who know more about the prop policy.....thinking about wearing a costume with a large unrealistic grenade launcher style gun, which is big (~9 feet, but breaks into 2 pieces so it fits the "must go through a door easily" rule). the very end of it is made of a toilet plunger and there's no fucking way i'm painting it orange. can i get it peacebonded since it's unrealistic and made of wood/PVC pipe/a broom handle/hose nozzle?
because if getting it approved is too much of a pain in the ass i'll just wear a different costume.

I looked at their site and saw the stuff about them cutting off second floor access. Are there any other security checkpoints throughout the con? Their reasoning is that they want to consolidate all the checkpoints into one checkpoint, which will either make this very difficult or very easy depending on how good their security at that one point is. Considering how shoddily Fanime is run, I'm guessing it will be the former and not the latter. I don't know if they have a new system in place, but least year it was literally just 2 guards per door. Hopefully there will be some unguarded entrances, but if all else fails I plan on bringing my old badge and trying to duck through when no one notices.

that's the question. they're probably going to have people at every entranceway so I'm thinking elevators, stairs, escalators, and the entry points from the hotels. that's actually a lot more manpower than they would have needed previously as opposed to just having people camp the doors to the exhibit hall/arcade/etc and the panel room doors. there's a lot of routes going upstairs.
honestly the only thing they are blocking off from public access is stage zero (unless stage zero is going downstairs) so this seems like a huge manpower increase for very little gain. it's not about safety because they aren't checking for weapons. some guy with a bomb could have a badge (or beat up someone/steal a badge), waltz in, and blow it up. nevermind that all the people gathered downstairs and outside are outside the badge checking ring

Yeah the whole "safety" angle is total bullshit. It's all about catching ghosts, and really I don't blame them. Makes it more fun for me, though. I'm thinking that if they do have guards at every way in, it might be better to go through the most crowded entrance. Just find whichever has the most foot traffic and try to rush in. Unless the guard is a powertrippin' wannabe cop, they probably don't give enough of a fuck to check every single badge in the massive rush of sweaty weebs. When I went last year, I got a 4 day pass and only had my badge checked 4 or 5 times. I think this is gonna be the same affair: they will check just enough badges to keep their hands full. Whoever slips past when they're busy is a non-issue.
