There's nothing in the South. Every city is fast becoming an identical concrete mess of Starbucks, KFC, Primark, McDonalds and Costa Coffee with little to no variation. The people are unpleasant and rude, always in a rush and have this weird superiority complex about the fact that they little in an overcrowded, snotty, barren wasteland which they have to pay double, sometimes triple for the privilege of tolerating.
The North is cold, it's quaint for sure, but fuck me it's beautiful here. I live right in the middle of the Lake District and I love it here. Sure there's not a whole lot of major events, but it means less cramping, less litter, less shitheads and less chances of violence, plus, nobody ever targets the North for attacks and shit because nobody think the North is important, it's always you Southern fuckers getting stabbed and blown up and shit.
You guys have got way better beaches than us though I'll give you that. Our nicest one is probably Roanhead, and even then it isn't much. We do have the main hub for Kadampa Buddhism located here which people travel from all over the world to come stay at and it's fucking GORGEOUS, and there are always monks clad in orange robers up walking about the town which makes for a pleasant atmosphere.

I can't even put a number on how many times I have seen kids in these MCM meetups posting 'I have found a really awesomesauce (xxxx333) photographer who has kindling agreed to come take fotos of us!!11' and he ends up being some fat 30-something balding man who has a portfolio filled with godawful petplay and bdsm.

Yeah, it's always worth having a wander up and down the length of Goldhawk Road to check in all the fabric shops there - you may even be able to haggle a bit in some of them if you're buying a lot of stuff. They're mostly rubbish for haberdashery but just walk through Shepherds Bush Market for that and you're pretty well sorted.
Going a bit further out, there's also a Fabricland in Kingston that's open seven days a week, and there's a Sewing and Craft Superstore on Balham High Road, just down from Tooting Bec station. I tend to bounce between these three depending on what I need and when I have time to go fabric shopping.

Also lots of stalls on walthamstow market with lots of shops there too. Much cheaper, has a few really good haberdasheries, if you need the basics I'd rec going there.
