I'll be taking Sans to A-kon in a few weeks. And not really a meet, but I went to a few smaller cons in the area and well...expecting similar experience in terms of maturity there. Lots of screaming and beating each other with flowers and fake knives. Hopefully a larger con will bring out some of the better cosplayers though.

As far as meetups go, I went to the ALA one and it was quite an experience, a lot of the loud and obnoxious people kinda turned me away from attending another one especially at a big con like AX.

AU cosplay is fine. The only problem is AU individuals that shove it in their face that they are unique because they are cosplaying an AU and "how dare you not keep up with all of them are you even a fan?" Also, if it's a gathering, they really should wait for an "AU" shot. If the current shot is Sans, 14 different kinds of Sans kind of ruins the shot.

I'd just go with blue, just like actual nails are just skin-tone with translucent material over it. Undyne isn't the type to have primly made up nails, so I'd shy away from painting and overly shape them, if that makes sense? I think just gluing the nails to the sock would create the effect I think of.

The down payment was 130, the final cost for the raw cast ended up being a little over 200 because they split the cost of the mould among the commissioners, of which there were like three or four including me I think. 200 was way more affordable than the finished product which woulda been well over 1500 bucks. Making a last min Frisk cosplay for Acen, I just ordered all the things I'll be needing to make it. Fortunately it does not seem too complicated to make with thw time I have before the con, so, I was wondering. Is there anything I should keep in mind when cosplaying Frisk? Is there anything you hate seeing? Like seeing? Anything I should I do for make up beyond foundation, some blush, and natural brows? :O I'm curious what people with more experience than me think as this will be my first cosplay ever.

bring a prop, maybe (any of frisk's weapons would work)
wear some eyeliner/mascara, it'll help bring your eyes out

Starting to work on the wig for Asriel. I like how my ears turned out, and I'm starting to work on figuring out how to attach the horns to the wig. I was thinking about attaching them to a headband kept on the inside of the wig, but idk what I can put in/around the horns to keep 'em stable.
At the moment, I've got some screws going up into the horns (which are filled with an expanding foam) but they're not staying. Should I try filling the horns with something else (and digging out a little bit of the foam perhaps?)
Perhaps a homestuck can help me with this?

When I had to attach things to other things I used the same method as you, but placed some of those plugs you stick into a wall into the foam, with some contact glue/super glue that would stay up all day. Depending on the size of the horns you'll need 2 screws/plugs.

I'd suggest smoothing the stuffing out more; it looks lumpy. You could make an inner "skin" for the tail and then stuff it. I've seen a brony artist who made a 4ft tall plush, and she described doing that to stuff it so it wouldn't warp the fabric or come out lumpy.

I tried draping a bedsheet over an umbrella hat initially, but it wasn't even so I ended up getting a tablecloth today and it is A+ but it is heavier than I anticipated, so I need to ditch the umbrella hat and order something sturdier. I'd have to hold it, but I think I will try a wind-resistant umbrella.
Does anyone have any suggestions for eye holes? This thing has no visibility. I've seen some Blookys that use white mesh for the inner eye but it looks a bit too spooky IMO.

well since you'll paint the back stripes too it's not as big of a deal. Also Magazines work as a blocker, or even just a few sheets of paper, paper may stick but with a quick washing it's gone. Better to line with something than nothing.

What fabric is the tail? I made my Alphys with fleece, which is fairly forgiving. Anyway, just kind of... roll around the tail between your hands like a big-ass sausage until as smooth as possible.
Although, from the picture, I presume it's more of a tights/pantyhose material, which is a lot less forgiving in terms of showing bumps.

Thanks! The stripes definitely weren't perfect at first. Like you said, some got under the tape in a few places. I think it's bc I used waaayyy too much paint. The blue of the shirt kept showing through and I just kept painting.
Anyway, I guess I didn't heat bond it successfully enough bc it faded in the wash. So I decided to repaint, and retaped the lines slightly above to cover the errors. I didn't use as much paint that time bc the blue didn't have to be covered as much. Agree with >>9015353 ,would have been more efficient to do thinner layers to begin with! And ofc just take your time and be careful. I would say I spent a good 40-45 minutes on each side, both times.

I'm trying to figure out what to do about the underside of my shoulder-spikes for Mettaton.
They're painted foam, but the underside has this circle texture, so painting that isn't really an option.
I'm thinking fabric or glitzy cardstock, but both of those would probably look terrible.
Any other ideas?

I'd like to make my own Manly Bandanna and Tough Gloves. Description says the gloves are dusty pink so I'll probably dye them, and paint on the symbol from the Flowey fight. Her attempt at selecting a fancy looking fabric bit her in the butt. I bought the same silky print from JoAnn and immediately thought of what linings to use to avoid undergarment silhouettes peeking through because its very thin. Her hoops wouldn't have been so visible if she lined it. It would have taken an intense amount of tulle or crinoline to hide those hoops and I wouldn't be surprised if her budget and/or time just ran out to fix it.
I won't lie, I had high hopes for her cosplay, but I ended up disappointed.

I tested out Mehron's Metallic Powder + mixing liquid, but it's too dark, to me. I might use it for his cheek panels but not the rest of the face.
I do hate when cosplayers use matte grey or white, though.
I'm going to do a mix of white paint and metallic powder to get a lighter silver sort of shade.

Yeah, >>9018851 pretty much has it. Metallic colours are very difficult to highlight & shadow, so are very difficult to contour with. What ends up happening is that you end up looking very flat faced, and just silver/gray, and not very metal-like at all.
Most people also tend to limit their usage of metallics & shimmers to the obviously metal panelling on the side of the face. The panelling wouldn't stand out if the entire face looked nearly identical in colour/finish.

I just ruined the paint job on my MTT chest piece with a faulty can of glitter spray.
I've been adding a subtle glitter finish to all the pieces of the costume, and the fucking can decompressed or something and dribbled glitter unevenly all over when I went to mist it.
I have to sand it all off and start over.
