It's not necessarily fancy looking, but it's clean and organized.

My wardrobe is currently Bodyline and offbrand and is a mix of new and second hand pieces. I'm slightly embarrassed about it and wish I would have bought just one or two really nice main brand pieces instead of building a wardrobe of cheaper stuff. Maybe one day that will happen. I do like the Bodyline dresses I have though so I don't want to sell them.
The overall theme of my wardrobe currently is not OTT sweet, but not quite old school. Someday I'd like to have a more old school wardrobe.
I wish I had more blouses and socks! I only have a couple of each (Lolita appropriate ones, anyway).
I also wish I had some more shoes. I could use a new pair of black ones to replace the ones I have now, and I'd really like a pair of white mary janes. I also would love a pair of rocking horse shoes someday.
I store my skirts and JSK on hangers in my closet, blouses get hung in the closet too. Shoes sit up on my closet shelf, socks go in a dresser drawer, and I keep all bows and things in a little box on my dresser. MT petticoat is in a plastic grocery bag, balled up to preserve poof. At one point I really wanted all my Lolita stuff displayed together like pic related, but decided that it's more practical for me to mix my normal and Lolita clothes together. I still think about it from time to time though because I love the way it looks.

I feel that my organization is not quite ideal but it works ok and keeps everything safe at least.

A year and a half. I'm mostly satisfied with my main pieces, just want to sell 4 pieces and plan to buy 1 dream dress in May.
I don't expect my wardrobe to expand much in the future though. I have 5 dream dresses left, and my favorite brand, MM, rarely releases new things. I only ever get tempted by chiffon dresses and the rare print lust (that Meta fits nowhere in my wardrobe but goddamn). I also avoid secondhand sales more unless I'm looking for something specific and have money to spare. I just can't spend hours scouring Y!Japan without being tempted to make a big order.. That's how my wardrobe grew so fast my first year. Advice for new lolitas trying to save money- don't hunt for cheap brand because you'll find it. Find specific pieces you like that are in your price range and only search for those.

Been in the fashion for 9 years, and only have around 32 main pieces. There was a period of a few years starting out where I only bought 1 or 2 pieces a year after the initial bulk buy of getting a few pieces to start off with, a solid year that I didn't buy anything, one year where I got a better paying job and bought like 6 pieces that year, and now I've gone done to around 1-3 pieces a year since. I picked it up from my local target, but they're available through amazon - make sure you double check the measurements as there is two sizes. I find it can hold up to 45 main pieces, but thats with the blouses doubled up under the hangers. I've since starting using the multi-hangers for blouses and folded my boleros/cardi's. That's helped to trim it all down but with the multi-hangers I can only use the top 3 for shirts otherwise they hand too low.

Pick one. If you're not saving money for emergencies on the regular, and you're spending it on lolita clothes instead, you can't actually afford it. What if you get hurt and can't work for awhile? What if your rent goes up? What if your pet gets sick, or the transmission in your car suddenly needs replacing? Obviously not everyone will need all these things, but it happens. Having the money and paying your saving back is better than not having the money and paying a lender back.
It's not bad to set aside a lot for hobbies if you make a lot of money, but if you've burnt through the end of your paycheck and into your savings, it's time to reconsider.

Clusterfuck. I'm primarily into gothic, but I've got some pieces that lean classic, and some more that lean classic-sweet. Gothic was my first love, but for some reason I'm drawn to nautical themes too. And so much AatP.

Only if the original release of Versailles Rose Embroidery with the bonnet counts. I've got a couple coveted prints, but they're the skirt version.

Secondhand. I'm trying to get ahold of pieces I loved when I was poor, which are mostly pre-2010. However I tend to buy indie pieces I like new.

Accessories. Shoes. I actually have zero Lolita appropriate shoes after The Big Move. Blouses. Basically everything.

Closet. I need to get better hangers though, my skirts are mostly just draped over the hanger, and I've got a velvet dress on a normal plastic hanger.
2016 goals are accessories/blouses/shoes being added, and to pray to Mana that my blacks start matching. As it is my wardrobe isn't really functional. Which sucks.

Different anon here, but I agree. I save a portion of my paycheck every week and it goes into my savings, but I also don't buy lolita out of my savings. I pay for all my hobbies out of what's leftover after bills and savings. My mentality is that if spending my money on the hobbies prevents me from adding to my savings, I can't afford the hobbies that month in the first place. I also specifically budget for my hobbies (things like my monthly manga or if I have a con coming up, I budget for cosplay and coords). Even if I have to dip into savings to cover a bigger credit card bill, I pay myself back and always pay off my credit card monthly.

I have two closets; one for my regular clothes and one that is devoted to Lolita. The spare room closet is the Lolita one; having a full closet space allows me to keep everything neat, organized, and without any potential for damage.
