This thread is for ouji and aristocrat (aka "boystyle") discussion. Boystyle refers to the masculine counterparts of lolita and aristocrat fashions. There is a lot of overlap between these styles, and different people use different terms to describe them. So, consider this a thread for those whose style is on the right half of Buttcape's Lolita Family Triangle: http://www.kawacura.com/moripress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/0dmmLH6-350x350.jpg

>>
>>8956094
Oh actually hats are in op. I'm considering making one myself. I was planning to use cardboard as a base, sew over it with a black non glossy material and then add a ribbon and accessories. I'd like to use something brand made as I don't plan to walk around with a deck of cards from a corner store. Tho Idk what???

Does anyone know a good place to find a navy blouse that would be suitable for ouji? Putumayo is the only place I can find one, but it looks see-through, and I'm not sure how good the quality is. I've tried checking taobao, but haven't had much luck there either.
>>
>>8957865
Boz sometimes do navy blouses, as do Moitie. Alice and the Pirates occassionally as well, so worth a look?

I'm trying to identify a Moitie gilet I picked up on Alice Fururun. I've found similar, bt does anyone recognize what year it's from, and whether the piece has a name? It's a halter-neck gilet with a lace up back, double-breasted, and longer at the back. It's a mens' size EGA item.
>>
>>8957904

Search for the SKU located on the clothing tag.
>>
>>8957963
Thanks.
>>
>>8957963
this, the item number will usually be prefaced with "EGA" and you can search from there.

not every release is archived on Lolibrary, though. my wide pants and one of my blouses are not on there, last times i have checked.
>>
>>8958329
I've searched high and low on Lolibrary for it, to no luck. Thus in part why I'm asking here. I've trawled through al of the Moitie coats and vests and gilets, to no luck.

CoF is a nonpublic group, so i am always uncertain how to utilize coords i find there. it seems wrong to share an image onto 4chan (which has outside sites that archive EVERYTHING posted to /cgl/) when the owner uploaded it to a semi-private group. it is common to do it, and we have a CoF thread that reposts (and thus archives) every coord, but it feels different than uploading an image from a public source like tumbl or daily_lolita's public entries.

>how long have you been wearing ouji
almost a year, dabbled in EGA a decade ago and vkei off and on since then

>how many vests/pants/coats do you own
not counting offbrand (and including brands like BPN): 6 vests/gilets, 4 pants/shorts, 3 jackets.

>what is your favorite accessory
this versatile offbrand scarf that works as a belt, hat trim, jabot, and as a scarf. i wish i could say "my hat" but each of my hats is problematic.

>your favorite brand
Moi-meme-Moitie

>what kind of print would you like to see on ouji wear
gothic non-cartoony shit like the best Moitie lolita pieces used to get. Iron Gate, Church Gate, Silent Moon, etc. such prints are both elegant and gender-neutral and would really suit a unisex fashion like ouji.

pic related, like fuck, put this on my body. imagine a long gilet or jacket with arches and spires and towers and bats flocking up toward the waistline, in a color that matches the lining or trim of the garment. why doesn't this fucking exist

I don't really like prints (my lolita wardrobe only has one print in it), but something simplistic or maybe just a interesting pattern.

>what is your favorite accessory
Handmade rose brooch. Works nicely as a hat accessory or on a vest.

>your favorite brand
Alice and the pirates.

>what kind of print would you like to see on ouji wear
The typical rose, cross, bats, iron gates. Anything goes since there aint much of a selection anyway.

Some tutorials that look decent:

>http://tombanwell.blogspot.ca/2010/01/steampunk-leather-top-hat-tutorial.html

I wouldn't use cardboard, it won't do complex curves like a nice top hat brim, and if it ever gets squashed you won't be able to reshape it. These all use leather or fosshape, though traditional is heavy buckram, which is reasonably priced and steam-shapeable. I'm a hat newbie myself but the friend who taught me makes /tons/, if you want more advice.

>>
>>8996707
that looks like a really solid coord base. some neckwear (jabot, necklace, or a jazzy tie) and a cool bag would complete the look. you picked items with gothic details so the ubiquitois bat or coffin bag would be easiest to find if you get stuck.

not sure if the pants are slim enough to tuck, but if not, the boots look slim enough to drape the pants over.

>dandy
thrift stores mostly. "dandy" isn't jfash, F+F just uses that term because it sells.

aristocrat is gothic, which can make a cool contrast if you are wearing sweet or classic, imo. but if you want to match, what is it about ouji he does not like? there is such a wide range of styles (as wide as lolita), and many aristocrat outfits can also be classed as ouji (and usually are in Japan).

can you describe his bodytype and general tastes?

meanwhile, check out Elegy. they are a Western indie brand with affordable men's blouses.

adding to this, though, if you are after 19th century style dandy, rather than modern dandy (which can look sometimes like pic related), try the LARP or historic costumes thread.
>>
>>8996734
Ah ok thanks I wasnt sure because last time I asked about something like this dandy is what came up.

I was worried aristocrat would end up clashing, but I could see it working along side classic actually.

Its just too feminine, I dont know anything about ouji and neither does he really other than what pictures we find. He doesn't like the idea of dressing like a little prince and the shorts are definitely a no go.

About my bf
>probably about 5'9"
>little bit of a baby face he likes to hide under a full beard (but not like hipster full beard, one that someone could get away with keeping for a job)
>pretty skinny, would fit into plenty of things straight from japan
>likes punk music and is open to, as he calls it "dressing like a pirate"

He just wants to look good with me basically/

I'll check those out though! I was thinking for matching with my coords it may be as simple as getting blouses and pants from like F+F and then getting vests that match my colors.

>>8996744
Yeah definitely was looking at 19th century instead of modern as I thought modern might be too off next to lolita, thanks for the ideas!
>>
>>8996744
However do you think modern dandy could work? He does like modern dandy clothes and that picture sure is colorful enough to match sweet lolita lol
>>
>>8996713
If you're looking for Aristocrat clthing, there's n Aristocrat specific thread.
>>
>>8996750
Thanks, Ill check the catalogue too then :)
>>
>>8996749
Different anon, but I'm a fan of modern/neo-dandy looks; it can range from preppy Ivy League looks to teddy boy meets hipster looks to Andre Benjamin's flamboyant coords. I don't want to post a non-ouji style in an ouji thread, so I recommend browsing Neo-Dandyism's tumblr and Dandyism. n et

I don't see how a lolita and a dandy can't be dressed up together. To regular people, they look like a pair of really dressed up people.

>tfw no qt dandy bf to dress up with

>>8996618
imo, they're hit or miss. I used to work in a tuxedo shop and my recommendation is that it works best on tall, non-bulky figures. As for anything, make sure it fits around the body properly.

I originally really disliked ouji, but it grew on me. Dressing like a 'prince' doesn't have to mean looking like a little boy. You could be elegant to match classic, without going fully aristocrat. Take the colours of ouji and the maturity of aristo and you can get a pretty nice blend.

I don't know any other ouji who have full beards but neatly trimmed it can still look nice. Don't describe it as boy-prince wearing silly hats and shorts - that's one way to do it, but there's much more variety than that.
>>
>>8997037
Honestly he cools with everything up until the shorts.

He likes what you posted other than that and the ruffles on the bottom of the vests.

Like I said all we really know about ouji is the "little boy" look, but this thread has given me a lot more to look at, it looks like a good mix for him, that he thinks, is just mixing and matching ouji tops/vests with more mature pants and coats
>>
>>8997045
Does he dislike shorts in general? I hadn't worn them for over 10 years before ouji, can't say I blame him.

Ruffles and lace can be hard to avoid, particularly on blouses. If he's willing to shell out the money for Boz that's great, otherwise I'd probably look for Ozz On and h.Naoto.
>>
I want to get a shaggy short haircut like this but I don't want to be mistaken for an actual boy, wat do? Are there more cutesy girly ones?
>>
>>8997099
The way you style the same short layered cut is the difference in a boy look versus a girl look. I have a short shag cut and choose to wear it boy-like because it's my aesthetic, but a little hot ironing or whatnot would make the style feminine.
>>
>>8997045
>all we really know about ouji is the "little boy" look,
that is usually specific to sweet ouji, since sweet usually translates to looking more childlike (and not looking like an actual child, children don't dress like this!). you can wear mature sweet ouji as well--pic related.

classic, gothic, punk, and military ouji are common styles that tend to veer away from the childlike look (well, punk often looks juvenile in a mallgoth sort of way).

Aristocrat tends to be the more mature look, if we separate 'ouji' into how we see it in teh West, as ouji and aristocrat, with ouji being more the side leanin towards the more playful and younger look. If he's fairly slim, Atelier Boz's mens' sizin, and Moitie'smens sizing could work for him. There's also BPN (gone but, but second hand stuff still pops up), and some others. Buttcape's blog definitely a good resource.

whereas pic related borrows more from Rococo, by way of fantasy/history like Rose of Versailles.

these are each iconic silhouettes and even hats for their respective sources of inspiration, and many ouji mix things up, and not all can be identified as being closer to one period or the other. but these are the two most common ouji shapes/looks. just wanted to vent a bit about the difference.

*fantasy/history series, that is.

i kind of like the occassional attempt to use pumpkin pants in a coord with other articles inspired by periods in which men wore puffy pants, like pic related borrowing a few ideas from the Elizabethan era. but usually, ouji coords tend to follow either the "Victorian earl" template (Cain Hargreaves/Ciel Phantomhive) or the "Rococo swashbuckler" template (Oscar de Jarjayes/Andre Grandier/generic pirate).

i like ouji's armoire better because they tend to focus on new releases and professional shoots, often uploading new content. the coord reblogs PoP does are nice but can also be found by following specific tags boystylers use.

She was kicked out. Look at >>9040193 that even mentions it.

Considering what he did to the blog, I'm not sure we should take his word as gospel anon
>>
>>9040660
If you believe he did it why do you not believe his motive of why he did it?

Tbh I've never really liked them because they came off as being really narcissistic for not being that great looking of a group. It's like when a person is the first to discover something and think they're hot shit and try to stay in the front as other people surpass them.
>>

Tbh I don't really care. It looks like she was the only one updating aside from a few sporadic boz posts that he made, and the only one still hosting events. Seems like a bunch of petty infighting that they should have kept to themselves

this Susin release looks basic enough for boyfriends of lolitas to wear without their masculinity feeling threatened.
