Annnnd the eBay/Ali lot, minus the silicone and many clear and white phone cases. I'm gonna stick Mew and Mewtwo on the glittery purple ones. Tbh, I'm excited for it to come
>>
>>8955383
Mind linking the piping thing and cabochon wheel? Please post your cases when the stuff arrives, I'd love to see them.
>>
>>8956226
Cabochon wheel: http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/311483300240

Piping set: http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/131547112213

And sure. I have a couple of ideas and I'm super excited to start on my cases.
>>
I made another case yesterday. It actually took me two attempts though, somehow managed to flip it over halfway through piping so had to scrape it off and start over. Made a vid on insta so you can see the sparkles

https://www.instagram.com/p/BEDLBSsO5eZ/

I want to have a go at some rhinestone/flatback pearls ones, I've been looking at supplies on eBay/Ali but they seem to come in such small quantities, I don't feel like 15g of pearls is going to get me very far. Any recommendation for getting stuff in bulk?
>>
>>8956239
Not good. this is pretty awful.
>>
>>8955382
cheap food cabochons always look like shit, you'll be making an inferior product buying stock from china.
>>
>>8956239
The whip and piping is okay, but besides the heart I think most of the cabochons are oversized and gaudy..
>>
>>8955383
>>8956226
As someone who made the mistake of getting those wheels, they're TINY.
>>
>>8956262
The pipped base doesn't make any sense...really don't understand why people do it on non-food related projects, you don't need to. Do they just really not know how to arrange things without it?
>>
>>8955383
>>8956234
>>8956264
Those wheels are for nail art...
>>
>>8956239
Is that.. Translucent whipped cream? I'm really sorry but it looks like cum. Otherwise it's cute
>>
>>8956258
They were like $0.02 each and not the only things I got in the order so if they're shit I'm not gonna be too salty about it

>>8956264
>>8956271
It was less than $2 with free shipping so I wasn't expecting them to be decently sized. I do like the little flatback pearls that come with it though.
>>
>>8956266
Tbh I think it's cute if done correctly and your cabochons make sense, especially if the whip is glittery or a color other than white. I've seen cases where it worked and cases where it didn't though, and that was mostly due to the cabochons used
>>
>>8956262
>>8956266
Fair enough, I'm just practicing with stuff I have laying around at the moment, trying to figure out what works. Most deco cases I've seen use whip whether it's food related or not. Thanks for the feedback though

>>8956277
Haha I guess I can see what you mean, I should have added more colour
>>
>>8956234
Thanks anon!
>>8956286
It's not that terrible for a first attempt, honestly. I think you need a bit more contrast because it's all so pale and blends together weirdly (maybe that's just the photo though). The way the cabochons are arranged is awkward because of the hole, it looks uneven and squashed. Try arranging the cabochons before you add whip to the case, that way you can play around with the placement and figure out how to make them look good.
The whip really does need more color though.

(Edited this to make more sense.)

Not sure if anyone would be interested but I'd thought I'd ask before I stooped to trying to list this on eBay

I've got a bunch (at least 20 or more) packets of mixed and assorted decoden rhinestones, pearls, cabochons (so many cabochons!), and whatever else is in my pile I haven't sorted through yet. They're anywhere from 2mm to 8mm in size and I bid on them all when I was trying stuff out but now I'm firmly in the 2mm is best mm for life camp so I have all these I can't use..

Anyone want to take a bunch off my hands? I'd just charge by how many packets you get (like $0.25 for 3 packets idk, they retail about $0.75-0.99 per packet on ebay but I ain't charging that) and shipping to you ($2.50 is the cheapest First Class with tracking gets I think) but I'd make deals for anyone wanting to just take a bunch/the whole thing.

If anyone's interested, just let me know and I'll finish bagging up everything up today and take photos to post along with dropping my email. I'm Itaphone-anon as well, if that helps lessen the shady anon selling shit vibes.
>>
>>8956258
>you'll be making an inferior product buying stock from china
Anon... where do you think cabochons that people buy are made?

>>8956277
Translucent whip only works well if it's got glitter or the color is really pigmented, and the whip shape holds up well. I've heard that translucent whip has a harder time holding up its shape than white/opaque whip, but the ones that come out well look really nice.
>>
>>8956395
A lot of that stuff can be easily made by yourself, it gives you more control and makes your products unique(and you can price them higher) I just think those plastic cabochons look cheap and lazy when you can do it yourself instead of just slapping plastic onto a phone case.
>>
>>8956349

This is about half of the stuff I'm getting rid of so I'll go through the rest tomorrow, that's the stuff mixed in my 'to keep' beads so I have to spend an hour or two digging them out of the containers.

And I do have two colors of jelly rhinestones! Those will be posted tomorrow, today is just stuff already bagged or that were in little sauce containers that I could dump out.
Anyway, Pic 1/6 for today

And since this is the end, dropping my email and the shipping info.

>email is: [email protected]
Shipping is $2.50 flat fee for USPS First Class with tracking but if you're buying everything (doubt it) that'll go up to $4.50 because of weight.
Currently shipping prices are valid for within the USA. I can ship to Canada but it's probably not worth it because I'd have to charge you whatever Postal Canada asks to avoid paying out of pocket.

Anyway, will post the rest of the stuff tomorrow! Should be a few more cabochons, more pearls, more rhinestones, and some jelly rhinestones.
>>
>>8956715
>>8956725

This is going to take forever and a day to individual bag and I want to save the container so I can't sell it in container.

Anyone want to buy a massive ziplock of mixed rhinestones and pearls for $3.50 shipped? I have this and another container of 12+ colors I can dump in.

Hell if anyone wants to sort through EVERYTHING i can dump everything I've posted except the rabbit bag canochons and storage containers into a few ziplock bags and you can have the whole lot for $6.50 shipped within the usa. Thats pretty much $15+ worth of beads. Also have some artist alley purchase bags, the rest if my bunny packages, price tags and jewelry tags i can add in for $2 more. Can take pic of it all if anyone is interested.

So I got my package from itaphoneanon today and I was so excited that I decorated my charger. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with it!
Some of the rhinestones got foggy when I put the glue on them. I used e600. Should I get something else? I also sprayed it with an acrylic sealer, not sure how that'll work out.
>>
>>8965318
Are you using the clear drying jewelry & bead one (the one with the four bonus tips is my go to for decorating!) or the colored e6000 glue? It also may just depend on the backing of the gem whether it's got that metallic film on the back or not to protect the color.
>>
>>8965363
Fuck, I guess I need to get that
They all had a metallic backing, but some of them dissolved, others didn't.
>>
>>8959042
it's ok! the transfer took longer than expected, thanks for waiting anyways, sorry for the trouble
>>
anyone know how durable paper clay fake cream is?
>>
>>8965378
it's pretty good, a little give. paper clay has better shock absorption than the glue type. but with all paper clay you need to seal it. i usually use matte or glossy polyurethane varnish because you can paint it on easy(or dip it in)
>>
>>8965380
thanks!
>>
>>8965371
So I did some googling, and apparently using a glue with a solvent like e600 can dissolve the metallic backing of a jewel. Obviously not a problem with pearls, but my transparent jewels suffered. I'm going to try again using a two part casting resin and see if it works out? It would help with my lumpy glue issue too.
>>
>>8958803
Tbh I just got it for the plastic nozzle tips. Everything else was metal
>>

Alright guys, here's my first decoden case made from materials from >>8955382 and >>8956693

I know it's not perfect but it's my first case so please tell me how I can improve! I may end up selling it since I was informed I would be getting an iPhone 5s while I was making it... oh well. At least the next one may be better with the help of you gulls.
>>
>>8974661
cute first go, the fake figure looks a bit derpy though aha
i wouldn't say it was a sellable quality yet, your piping is rather uneven and smooshy, you need a more even strong pressure to get a good shape
>>
>>8974673
Oh definitely haha, I would only sell it for cost of materials. Thanks anon! Any advice on getting my piping to not be so... like that? Haha
>>
>>8974723
Not that anon but just practice on scrap paper until you can pipe evenly. It might take a while to get it right but it's a useful skill to have.
Also, the case looks a bit plain, you could do with a few more small decorations.

If you spray Moon with some matte sealant she should look a bit less derpy. Also, the rose is too transparent and makes the case look a bit off.

It's because of the size.
>>
>>8988525
I actually have a tube of the white stuff. I used it for some keychains and it works like a charm. What I really like about it is the fact that it has a screw on cap so it doesn't dry out, I used it months ago in like January and it's still gucci
>>
>>8989665
whats the texture like? is it soft and flexible when dry like silicone, or hard like whipple? or does it look kind of papery and lumpy like paper clay cream?
>>
>>8989672
I'm still a bit of a beginner and haven't gotten the chance to use whipple or paper clay cream, but from my experience I'd say that its a bit softer than, if not as hard silicone when it drys (if I press hard at the pieces from January with my nail theres a little mark). It's kinda lumpy but its only really noticeable if you squish it while it's soft. I hope that info is helpful, maybe tomorrow I'll get some good pictures of my keychains to show what its like
>>
>>8988525
I only recommend thus for small scale details, this stuff will crack on large surfaces covered in the stuff
>>
>>8991507
That's odd. Do you have any idea why?
>>
>>8994471
I think it's water based ? so it shrinks as it dries thus cracks

>>
>>8999017
I retract my previous statement. This is something a 5 year old would make.
>>
>>8999017
Ugh sprinkles and glitter must be used sparingly
>>
So I made a pearl case using e6000 and a flexible "snap on" case. I used e6000 instead of resin because I feared the resin would come off in a sheet if I bended the case to put it on.
I'd like to seal the pearls so the coating doesn't come off, but I still need the case to be slightly flexible. Will acrylic spray work well enough? I'm also considering carefully applying clear nail polish to each one, but I know that's not very durable.
>>
>>9000192
I wouldn't use nail polish because it chips and yellows, use the spray for sure.
>>
>>9000320
So I sprayed it with a few light coats of acrylic topcoat and the whole thing got kind of murky and rougher. The AB effect was dimmed a lot. I thought maybe it was just too thin and misted, so I sprayed a thicker layer and it got worse.
Am I just retarded? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?
>>
>>8999106
I have never seen too little glitter on a deco item. It's so easy to go overboard with glitter, especially as it gets everywhere and it's more likely to end up awkwardly splashed all over one corner than evenly distributed.
And yet people still insist on using it.
>>
I'm looking to buy cabochons, pearls, rhinestones from Ali for the first time.
