If I had to make that sword I'd make it into different parts with stiff foam and then apply modge podge (or other foam sealer) then paint and assemble/glue the parts together (or vice versa with painting and assembling the parts)

Was thining of buying a glossy red zentai suit and maybe painting/stenciling the spots on. Opinions: will a glossy one look bad? I don't know how I could get a similar texture to her suit.

The suit is Red metallic spandex and the black is the same material. Both have a lot of stretch. With this version I sadly hot glued the spots on due to lack of time but the new version I used heat n' bond which works well if you iron them on while the fabric is stretched(people make the mistake of just ironing them on flat then they fall off when you stretch the suit).

Hers is zipperless. Fantastic Rubber also does zipperless but when you want to spend a few hours in the suit and nature calls and you got an armband on entry you really don't want to undress completely. With a neck entry suit you need only a short zipper unike the old type suit where you either had a front or back zipper that went all the way to the neck.

You can't sew latex, it has to be glued. If you try, the holes punched by the needle will cause it to rip. You could get matching gloves from just about anywhere. It would be kind of a pain to make your own, but it is possible. For info about gluing latex, google it, or see this link:

I chose the fabric I did since I felt it had the same shine in the right places when compared to the fully rendered images they use for promotion and it has the hexagon pattern although they are small.
I do sometimes feel like making a suit out of Yaya's 4 way stretch pleather since I've seen some nice looking suits made from it but I don't feel like it's very accurate. I'm not sure since I made my suit back when the show just aired so I was going off of image related more.

Ladybug's suit has such a bizarre texture. My first though on seeing the hexagons (since those weren't added til later) was internal cos-dread knowing that they would be nearly impossible to find, material wise.
I feel like most of the fabrics I mentioned have their pros/cons:
-Mystique has a pretty close design but seems too shiny and glowy almost?
-The dots >>8947670 are almost... sparky? I'd like to see this in motion to judge better.
-Yaya's doesn't have at all the correct texture (since it has no design at all) but it still looks neat and more professional/heroic than basic spandex.
I've seen metallic foil spandex used too like >>8947850 , which is cool but, again, not quite right.
I feel like there is no way to win so cosplayers are just choosing what they think looks coolest/most aesthetically pleasing/available.
Latex could be an option but doesn't really present anything over the spandexs I've mention and require a more specialized skill set. This pattern >>8952720 is way too large. I don't know enough about latex to know if you can get it custom printed. If so, that could be wonderful. I do have a personal dislike for the way latex seams (are they called that?) look.
I think a couple people have considered getting regular custom printed spandex to get the hexagon designs but those custom print services are always printed (as far as I know) on basic white spandex so they won't have the right shine at all and will be ugly matte and, in my opinion, worse than the plain red spandex since the heavily stretched areas will have a white-ish cast since the fabric is only printed on top.

Somene different, but I hope the anon's know that super skinny/boney bodies can't really be made to change. Especially in skin tight outfits. Your pelvic area and hips are going to look that way with or without card stock. I personally think it looks fine, if not just make it a little highter and I guess wear a leotard if you are really concerned, but overall this really is fantastic despite the extra fabric.

My mother is very, very skin as well, so she sort of has the same structure as you and there isn't much she can do about it. She eats and eats, but nothing changes. You look great with or without the extra fabric, but in the end its your choice to change it or not, but there are so many things you can do as far as posing goes so that it isn't noticeable and also comfortable for you throughout the convention so you don't have the change it.

We know pelvic bones protrude in stretch wear, that isn't the issue. The problem is how low the crotch in her suit is because she is too worried about camel toe. It throws off all of her proportions and makes the silhouette of her entire figure look freakish and unsettling.

I KNOW man. They do this shit each and every time a show that isn't SpongeBob gets popular.
They did it with Avatar: TLAB, Korra, Danny Phantom. I've said as much on my twitter and tagged Nickelodeon so that they know I am onto their little game of whatever the fuck they are doing.
I am just watching the sub in French and Korean. I like the english dub but if they want to play games on when they air it then I am out. When something is popular you keep that shit on the air in multiple timeslots. You DO NOT take it off the air for weeks at a time, then air reruns, then not announce new eps, then show them in Canada first, then stop airing them again.
Fuck that.
I played along for ATLA and Korra, I'm not bothering this time. They clearly don't care if I watch, pirate it, or buy it on itunes.
I'm not sure how many of these cosplayers are making their suits vs. buying them from somewhere, but I make those gloves out of tights on commission (the kind Homestuck/SU cosplayers use to avoid getting bodypaint everywhere, bless my customers' souls), and one of the most important parts is to cut a diamond-shaped dart going from the lower palm to about halfway up the forearm, widest where the wrist is thinnest. this prevents that weird saggy bunching effect when you bend your hand forward (for example, to pose with a yoyo). It's such a simple thing but it makes a huge difference.

Strange that they haven't started selling Ladybug stuff yet. Normally toy companies are quick to move in but other than the generic Chinese copyists selling ladybug outfits I haven't seen much else. Yo-yos and compacts would probably be easily industrialized. Come to think of it it is quite a while since last yo-yo craze did the rounds.

Also, maybe the reason they haven't jumped at making her yoyo/compact yet is because if they do, kids might hit eachother/their parents/animals with it trying to replicate how Ladybug fights in the show. I think I saw they made a compact, but I didn't see if it had a string attached to it or not.

I had the honor to hold a ladybug panel with Mr Astruc and did it cosplaying Chat. I was rather nervous though.
I'm curious about seeing pictures from it. He's definitely an awesome guy, though! Very easy going, funny but also knows exactly what he likes and values. Good guy!
