Anyone have any tips for Jasper cosplayers?
I'm having trouble thinking of how to do the legs.
The feet are obv. boot covers but what about the actual thighs?

Not who you were talking to but I'm >>8935891 and I did double knit head to toe, fully lined the tank top with it, and added a layer of cotton duck to the collar. Double knit's sturdy, easy to work with, no fray, smooth, and dyes easily.

Pretty much, I also made gloves and a dickie in lieu of painting my chest and arms so it's all attached. I've made dozens of boot covers over the years, but the outfit was a knit so I saw no need to separate the shoes. All of it was a poly jersey knit some of which I doubled up (the boots and collar were doubled). Since it wasn't a competition piece I wasn't interested in airbrushing my body and I bought my fabric from Amazon. It's hit or miss, but sometimes it's a nice cheap alternative.

I've seen valiant efforts with some Peridots and that good Lapis, but yes, you are totally right. A body positive show ironically does not translate into real life. Why? The body types and faces are way too specific, on top of being awfully colored. How many women do you know personally that look like Garnet naturally, for example? I've seen nice Roses, but none ever look just right with her fat distribution and the face is usually anime style make up with huge lashes, black eyeliner and circle lenses.

This is SO close to being spot on. The body it's self looks almost right, just poorly fitted to the person's body (and they could use some hip padding) but I'm not sure whats going on with that wig in the front, or the whole face paint/eyes. people need to realized that you have to highlight and shadow fake eyes with eyelids to make them look at least somewhat convincing, also gluing eyelashes on helps as well.

I guess it's a pretty low standard right now then, I mean admittedly it's one of the few complete yellow pearl cosplays I've seen myself.
The leotard construction and fit is awful and the crotch pulling (cameltoe lel) and lack of bust cups and finishing on the straps is really distracting. The sleeves are pretty off too, I'm not sure why she went with scrunched up tulle(?) instead of opting for something lighter and flowier.
and eh on the picky side she's too fat to be a good pearl, especially in the legs.

i am so tired of rose cosplays that use flesh-ish colored fabric for the star cutout instead of putting the slight effort in to make a real cutout. it just always ends up looking lazy and very out of place. the gem cutout is one of the most important parts of the rose cosplay, second only really to the wig, and i have never seen a rose cosplay that put real honest effort into making the cutout look good.
its a really silly pet peeve i know, but it honestly ruins every single rose cosplay for me no matter how good the rest of the cosplay is.

As much as we would've like to have had a cutout instead of fabric, it didn't end up being practical because the skirt of the dress needed more support and lift at the waist because volume of that nature gets really heavy fabric wise. And a crinoline had to be worn for volume. All of that shows through the cut out because it's all happening in the waist area. If you can figure out a way to sew all that into the dress without it dragging your top down off your tits or deflating your skirt, by all means, let us know.

You add a flesh-toned dance mesh (similar to tights) under the fashion fabric layer, either over the strength layer of you included one, or over interfacing/whatever. Make your cutout from the fashion fabric as per normal, and instead of your skin showing through. The fake skin shows through. This was my plan for my friend's Rose outfit, since she'd be wearing a corset.
