Not sure if posted last thread.

The level of inaccuracy is even higher than her last one. Seeing so many asspats is just so cringey, even my bf who's a from soft fan notices how her cosplays are terrible inaccurate. I wish more people would offer her criticism whenever she posts.

Everything she does has been inaccurate heavily. She mostly does it so the neckbeards give her praise. Her Maria is quite literally her just wearing a tricorn and black trench coat.

There are a lot of people that just throw together a trenchcoat and psuedo victorian style clothing and call it Bloodborne. People need to realize that the costumes are extremely detailed, even the simple ones.
>>
>>8935065
So.... TINY!!!
>>
>>8934576
Solaire cosplayer here, I really do understand that sentiment. I enjoy the popularity of it because it's one of the easiest characters to recognize but the whole 'praise the sun' starts to wear thin after a short while.

Although part of my costume got wrecked by my stupidity, I plan on remaking it even better but only after I try to cosplay as one or two more other characters. That's my personal goal.challenge for this year.
>>
>>8936220
Instead of fixing the costume have you ever tried maybe making a different one? Dark Souls has some of the best looking armor and costuming of any game. Solaire's is by far the most simple and boring design in all of souls.
>>
>>8936160
This

>>8935177
I wonder what percent of soulsborne cosplayers actually have played the game (especially by gender).
I've never seen an artorias in person but I've seen a lot of solaires. I feel bad for them because I'm sure everyone is spouting memes at them all day. I've never seen one doing that himself. I wouldn't go as far as to say he's deadpool because solaire himself is a respectable character.

>tfw you fail to save him

I'll be starting a Maneater Mildred cosplay for Dragoncon soon. She's one of my fav NPCs,but I'm kinda nervous people will think I'm only cosplaying her to show off some skin.
>>
>>8936198
True. Sometimes even a top hat, a mask (which are two entirely different setpieces) thrown together with a shitty edgelord longcoat.
Effort plays a major role here, as the outfit are simply clothes and not plate, chain or leather armor that requires specific tools and skills to craft.
>>
>>8936586
sometimes they are* sorry, don't know why my phone thought I wanted to type "even"
>>
>>8936476
Truthfully as annoying as it is to see a annoying meme spouting solaire nothing is worse than all the people screaming at you to praise the sun and nobody knowing anything about the game. Although the funniest thing that I've seen happen multiple times no less is people running up to my friend pretending to hop around clacking coconuts and shouting tis but a flesh wound. One guy legit started hopping around us for about a whole minute and a half going ham on these imaginary cocunts and reciting scenes from Monty Python.
>>
>>8936586
And the clothing in the game isn't really simple either. Most of the work is tailoring and is pretty complex.
>>
>>8936637
Exactly. Even though you're working with fabric the outfits should be made by a competent tailor, not just your next-door cosplay maker. The structure of the clothes require expensive materials as well as understanding how to use aged leather, pleats, lining and many other elements used in the game's attire.

>>8936957
Yep, for instance. We are currently making Maria and she is wearing around 4 layers total not including the cape. A longsleeve undershirt, a brocade tabbard, a brown vest, and a two piece jacket and skirt. When we made Gehrman he was an undershirt, vest, jacket and cape and a leather strap system to hold the Burial blade/blunderbuss on my back.
>>
>>8936608
Oh trust me, i understand. i cosplay a character that probably causes even more memes shouted at me than solaire, and i cringe through every single one.
>>
>>8936224
I still intend to fix my costume but like I said, before I do that I plan on making two more different cosplays. Could be different Dark Souls armor or something different, I'm just biding my time and planning until I get back to my home country.
>>
>>8936637
>>8936957
Not that Bloodborne is trying to be historically accurate or anything, but it's going for a pseudo 18th/early 19th century aesthetic. In that period, almost everyone would have their clothes tailored. Military regiments would hire tailors to get everyone's coats fitted properly, so it wasn't just something rich people did. So getting properly tailored cosplays doesn't just look good, it makes sense for the setting as well.
>>
This is still the only photo I have but for Otakon this year (I've assumed the role of annual FromSoft meetup organizer) I'm going to go all out on my Amelia cosplay. Resin-casting a mask and making digitigrade stilts to loom over people. Kinda worried as these are things I've never worked with before. My previous FromSoft cosplays were all either simply sewing or EVA armor.

Once I get tired of standing on stilts, I'll break out my wheel skelly cosplay and go to town.

This is actually really cool, would you be up for making any of the other portraits you find in the castle?

There is criminally low amounts of concept art out for dark souls 3, especially for a game thats been out in japan already.

I love crafting armor and usually have aset from each of the games (Ornstien from 1, Fahraam armor from 2, Fluted from Demons, and generic hunter from BB.). I have a con comming up in the summer and I want to get my ass to work, I just cant fucking find anything interesting yet. No ones posting armors.

I am Legit about to just do some fan art concepts I found. Anyone have any subjects or cool boss/enemy sets from 3 theyd like to see? Waiting till the 12th is killing me.

If you mean index he can be parried when he does a thrust and you will have to just whittle him down he second stage is best at killing you from a distance meaning stay close means you can effectively dodge roll his attack but you can see much beyond that blob that is his new body
Although if you mean vort that's different I personally did it with the aid of summons, but from what I could gleam from the fight ( he died in under a minute) he has very few attack that affect his rear meaning if you have an opening attack from there and listen out for his hammer trailing along the ground and begin to go backwards then.

Any ideas ?

-Cotton shirt and pants (wethered)
-Some strings
Does anyone here have a tutorial on how to make the helm ?

If you get some better pictures of the helm (so I can identify what type of helmet it is), I could help you.

In the process of making my elite knight set, I learned that the ancients already perfected armor building 500 years ago. Trying to improvise or deviate from what they did will give you an uncomfortable or poorly functioning armor.

You're going to be wearing this thing for a long time so you don't want to create something that is uncomfortable and can't see out of properly.

I'm sorry, the helm is under a hood, but I did my best (shitty puush collage).
You did an elite knight helm ? It interests me !
If you have any tips or tuto, I'd be happy.

You're helm isn't very different in design from mine. They'll have very similar patterns.

How much experience do you have with forming 3D shapes from flat sheets, either with foam or fabric? Like do you know what gussets and arrows are?

I think the hardest part about practically any Fromsoft costume is the amount of detail and wethering that goes into it. it's really difficult but has such a big pay out if you get it right.
>>
>>8973515
I used to do some folding by heating on PVC sheets.
Now I'm practicing foam and I happen to do some things quite well (I was going for an Artorias one before finding this set, did gauntlets and started shoulders).
Since I'm not a native english and I don't know much about crafting nor smithing, I don't know those two terms (maybe I know them in French).
I actually wanted to base my work on the elite knight one, because it looks nice and I think I'll find some ressources online.
>>8973531
Wethering might be the most tedious part, but the final effect has to be worth the effort. Here the armor itself is not damaged, just the facbric, and with some bleach, dirt, soldering iron and sand paper, I might be able to get the desired result.

Well, for the helm to actually look like the helm pictured it needs to be either a "close helm" or an "armet" design. These helms have open / closing articulation; this is how they fit around the neck and chin so tightly. If they didn't do this and just fits over the top of your head like a bucket, you're going to end up with a classic "sugar loaf" or "great helm" design instead.

You should go with the close helm design, especially if you're working with foam. It's a much more stable design. The 3D geometry of the chin piece (aka bevor) is complex, so you'll want to do some practice with cardboard or paper first.

Much like the elite knight helm, your helm is comprised of four parts: bowl, bevor, top visor, and bottom visor.

The bowl and bevor are the difficult parts; the visors are very straightforward.

I don't know how to make a bowl out of foam, but there's probably already plenty of tutorials you can find online for making foam helmets.

The bevor is unlikely to have any tutorials and is probably where you'll spend the most time.

The bottom visor is just a flat sheet with a fold down the middle.

The top visor is similar to the bottom visor, but there's additional shaping necessary to get to flare out to the pointed lip or "beak."

This is the pattern I made for my bevor. It's has heavy distortion in the chin area so you'll have to cut some foam / add some foam around that area.

If you make the bowl and bevor correctly, everything else is easy and you'll get a very good functional helmet with the correct medieval silhouette.

Wow.
Thanks mate, it helps a lot.
I always start with paper, tape and scisors.
For the bowl part, I'll use what he did here : http://www.gyakuyoga.com/bset/bset-fa-namu-atama-En.html

Little update on the helm.
I used an old 5 panel cap as a base, and it looks quite promising.

So I've decided on making Elite Knight armor set for my next cosplay, but i'm not sure how to tackle the helm.

I'm a grill and my hair is pretty thick and long. The easiest solution is too put my hair up in a wig cap, but it's not always uniform and can get lumpy in a few spots, making it difficult to try and pattern it off my own head. Should I try and tuck my hair under a shirt and try to somehow draft a pattern that way, or should I borrow a friend's head that's bigger than mine and hope for the best?

Shit, forgot I was posting in his thread, thanks for the encouragement - This was my first Eva foam experience, I used the thick floor mat pieces for the breastplate, pauldron, and faulds - and the thin stuff for the rest of the armor - then cut up some blue curtains and make a big 4 in 1 chain mail skirt and you're set lol, what do ya think?

It depends on how you want to wear the helmet, hair up or hair down. One thing I noticed is that Dark Souls character models are very tall with smallish heads. If you are short, the helmet will end up looking disproportionately large compared to the game model. You'll probably notice that in pictures taken of you and it might bug you, but I doubt other people will notice it. If that sort of thing bugs you, maybe you want to wear it hair down instead so your helmet doesn't end up so big.

Also, don't try to deviate from the medieval bowl / bevor / visors design too much. I've already tried that before and you just end with something that either doesn't look like the elite knight helmet or something that is very uncomfortable to wear. They got helmet designs down centuries ago; there's no reason to re-invent the wheel.

>>8975960
It looks like all you're missing is some surface details. Artorias is dripping black chaos from his armor; that's what is missing from yours.
>>
>>8976693
I'm pretty short (5'3") but I find my head on the smaller side, so hopefully it won't look too bad. One of my other concerns is my frame. I'm pretty thin, so I'm a bit worried about looking like a child wearing armor. something like pic related

I also hope to be as accurate as possible with this cosplay, but I'm opting to do foam instead of steel for the armor. I'm pretty confident with everything except for the bowl. I've yet to find a pattern/tutorial that I really like. None of them have that nice silhouette that I'm looking for, but I guess it wouldnt be too hard to try and figure out. I found a link to a pepakura file of the helm to base it off of, but the file was taken down quite awhile ago. Odds are, I'll have to wrap my own head in saran wrap and tape.

Also, assuming you're the anon that's posted your own elite knight helm and helpful helm info, I really like your work! Do you have a page or something that you upload pictures to?
>>
>>8976720
That cosplayer is a girl so she is thinner already. But I am also pretty thin. The reason I didn't end up looking as much like a child is because I was wearing a padded jacket and chainmail. But the enlarged helmet still annoys me; it's difficult to get rid of that unless you're over 6 foot tall.

There is a "12_inch_model.obj" file in that folder that you can import into Pepakura and unfold.

Wow that's awesome.
Today I tried designing the two movable parts of the helm, and it looks surprisingly close to your files !
Cutting it into foam makes it look way more impressive and resistant.
How tall are you ?
>>

Thanks so much! I ended up finding a pepakura file with the shinguards and pauldron as well, but the one you linked looks a lot more promising!

I meant more of a cosplay page so I could see any other cosplay you might have done, but this works too haha These picture are super helpful! Thanks a bunch

Foam. This stuff is great; it's my first time working with it and I've already got this spear. I don't see any other material being very feasible; worbla is expensive and doesn't look like metal, fiber glass is overkill, steel is great but only if you have the tools.

Don't need a lot of tools either. All I've been using is a Dremel with a sanding drum head, a knife, and a bottle of contact cement.

I don't know anything about painting foam though.
>>
>>8979430
Just seal it and paint it like you paint worbla, it isn't hard.

I also love foam but God I've never accomplished this much perfection! Great job anon. You motivated me to start on my cosplay too
