I personally notice that a certain kind of "ethnic" hair that is passable. Like, low-volume, curly, dark hair on a smaller scale would be completely unacceptable in lolita. But because it's a certain color, has volume, and straight bangs it's "cute." Not saying girl in the pic is responsible for that, but I just think it's hypocritical of the community in general. Actually the lolita side of cgl used to stress nitpicking coords rather than their looks. A common critique used to be "this would still look like shit on someone skinny and pretty", meaning the person well and truly sucked at wearing clothes. Even the ita threads stressed judging itas for their terrible fashion choices, not their bodies.
Laughing at ugly people is only entertaining for a little while, you can only be entertained by "she's fat" or "horse face" so many times. You gotta be either underage or have your brain stuck in some immature stage to keep finding it funny thread after thread after thread after thread. That's why nobody can really respect someone who only knows to poke fun at people's bodies and faces.
Laughing at people's fashion choices, though. I keep getting surprised by what kind of things itas put together as lolita. Tryhard attentionwhores keep inventing new ways to wear strange things hoping to be the next OTT trend. The level of creativity people show in finding new ways to dress badly is so much more interesting because there's always something new and stupid to laugh at other than "oh fatty" or "big nose" over and over again.
On that note, it's not always a bad thing to admit when you like a coord. Sometimes you can take cues from what you like and use them in your own coords (lolita or not). cgl used to be a useful place where you could come in and actually discuss things like "if she wore x it would look better" and get feedback from other anons going "no, it'll still clash with y", and that would make you better at dressing yourself. Whereas laughing at people's bodies only makes you feel better for 2 seconds, but after that you go back to dressing yourself poorly because you missed an opportunity to practice looking at coords critically.
tl;dr -- poke fun at people's clothes, not their bodies. Discussing coords helps improve your sense of coording.

Different anon here but to add to this point: It's beneficial to say why you like the coord in question and what elements about it make it good. Constantly seeing "love this <3 <3 so pretty uguu" is just as annoying as "ugh hate this so uglyyyy." Both are unproductive and makes you open to peoples' accusations that you may be self-posting for attention.
Also as someone who has been posted here, I like reading what people like specifically about my coords so I can incorporate similar elements next time if it's possible.
It's the same thing when people are specific about their critiques instead of saying "UGLY FAT FAGGU." I'll never forget when I got posted in a CoF thread over the summer and some assblasted anon went off on my ass because they thought I was getting "defensive" when I was just asking why on earth they thought something didn't fit me. Turns out they just hate the look of chubby arms, so no reason.

Having a fit body (or at least wearing shapewear), wearing good makeup, and taking pictures at flattering angles are all components of a successful coordinate.
I agree that nitpicking about like someone's nose or whatever is dumb but criticizing things that CAN be changed/improved is fair game for me.
