I'm really glad this thread exists. I'm planning on cosplaying Zinnia. Her design is one of my favorites and I really liked the Delta episode.
I'm currently trying to figure out what to make the scales on her cloak and her mega evolution ankle bracelet out of. Any suggestions?

Craft foam will be ideal for the job. To have the ankle bracelet coil around your leg, sandwich wire in between two layers of craft foam, it work wonders in retaining shapes. Though you need to be careful with the paint you use as it will crack if you flex it so much, use paint that is more flexible.
Really love seeing pokemon cosplays that are not gijinka, really. I am planning to do Sapphire from Pokemon Special, it'll be nice to see more pokemon trainer cosplays.
Does anyone else think Serena's new look is overdesigned? I like her with short hair but there's just so much going on with her outfit.

I don't mind the short hair, though I personally would prefer it to have a little more poof to shape her face better. However the rest of the outfit lacks balance.
Her first outfit (hair aside) everything is balanced. There's only three colours, (red, pink and black.) and they contemplate each other. The silhouette is straightforward and despite it having it have less addons than previous female designs it's a simple clean look.
With her new look, the colours and silhouette clash against each other. It's not exactly bad, however now we have the colours blue, pink, brown and red. The layered dress would be find on it's own since it makes a statement to begin with, but then there's this clunky red jacket that distracts from the initial shape of the dress. If the jacket was cropped then the whole look would fare better imo. The shape of the hat for me is too narrow and makes her look a little too mature? I understand it was the mark of a new leaf or whatever, but paired with the short hair it bothers me.
I would prefer the design to have

>A jacket that doesn't ruin the dress's silhouette (Either cropped or none.)

The brown boots bug me so much. They should have kept her old shoes and hat. I hate her pink dress because it's not a pleasant color of pink, and the slit in the middle is just too much. Long cardigans with dresses are cute irl, but dear god. The ugly pink dress, plus the cardigan and the brown boots? It's all over the place. I can understand the blue ribbon because "m-muh husbando Satoshi gave it to me!" They should have picked an alt outfit or something from the game.

That's because that's whoever's designing for the anime did that and not whoever designed for the games. I'm pissed because there were so many good outfits for girls in the game and the anime decided to go UNIQUE!!

I saw this thread and decided to ask here first instead of creating my own thread.
I'm looking for the perfect dress jacket for my Origins Giovanni Cosplay.
I have everything else since it's a very simple cosplay really, but I just can't settle on a right jacket.
Every dress jacket / blazer I see either has huge folds on the sides down the middle and/or four pockets.
Is this one of those things where I'm just going to have to settle or pay a tailor?
I strive for picture perfect accuracy since it's such a simple cosplay to do!

You mean the lapels? If you don't want to pay a tailor, buy a seam ripper (they're a sewing tool, usually $2 or cheaper) and take out the lapels yourself. You'll need to sew in order to close the blazer back up after taking out the lapels, though, but it shouldn't be too difficult.
Otherwise, if you found a cheap blazer with the lapels, you could take it to a tailor for alterations.

We did get recognised! It helped that we were carrying around Emolga/Dedene plushes; also there was a pokemon tournament on that day and we had created a duo team of pokemon with gender differences (Nidoqueen, nidoking, etc) to participate in double battles with. People generally clicked when they saw that!
I've got a decent Morty I've worn over the years. Badly needs repairs, and I'm ashamed I've never worn it with a wig (multiple online shopping horror stories). Thinking of finishing it properly for Momocon.

Seriously? They are VERY distinctive.
Her goldeen dress and the hairstyle scream Misty. Same if anyone did her mermaid costume.
Her yellow and red outfit is a given in the later episodes - almost as known as her first outfit.
Her gym outfit is very easy to notice if you've played the games. Same for her tight shorts and towel look.
Do you even Pokemon, anon? The only reason people do her first outfit is because they are lazy, know nothing about her, or are attention whores - mostly 2 and 3 since all of her outfits are fairly easy baring her mermaid look (as well as her yukata, kimono,and cheongsam)
She also wears so many swimsuits, its not even funny. They would even be better than seeing her shorts and suspenders 24/7.
Though, if you were to wear any swimsuit other than her white one from the games you'd probably have to have other characters or Togepi.

T-that's not how lapels work. Usually they're "grown on" from the facing, so they can't just be taken off with a seam ripper. They'll need to cut the lapel along the fold line, leaving the facing, then hand tack the leading edge back together, unless they unpick the lining and go inside to do it that way.
The balance of a suit is often dependent on the lapels. Giovanni's suit is a lapel free jacket. His character is based around looking good. Don't half-ass this.

Made Sana (Shauna) over a year ago but I love her character. Also did Serena's new outfit but it looks better in the anime than irl. I prefer the old outfit in terms of design, and will do that eventually also. I want to make an Arbok and finish Touko (Hilda) moreso.
I am really tempted to make a giant Arbok for Jessie. Megacon is coming. My friend was asking me advice for Eevee today, they better get cranking, less than a month.
