Gulls, what did you think was lolita when you first started. What was your first "coord"?

I didn't know what lolita was and thought it was a subsect of hime gyaru
When I actually learned about lolita, I made sure to do my dang research

My first coord was a bodyline skirt (no petti), office blouse, and flats with no socks. At least it wasn't an awful bodyline skirt, I guess.
Also, pic related was my lolita idol after hearing someone on LJ describe her as lolita.
My first coord was a cheaper replica of this BL dress (cause BL was sold out and I saw someone selling a version on Ebay and was like "Why not"), with a maxi pad headdress, white knee socks with cheap lace I added to the top, and black wedge heel mary janes I also added lace too for them to match the dress.
When I first found out about lolita it was when old school was what was worn. So by the time I wanted to try and wear it, I didn't do any updated research on it (why no new research, I have no idea), and looked at things like the old school styles I had seen and saved. My first two outfits I put together were a mess, and I thought more lace meant it was more lolita.

the explicit catgirl porn comic, which if they read them year of release (lmao, okay, 'innocent years' yet somehow finding out about a brand new catgirl porn comic just by accident!) they would be barely 18.

kek, same.
>tfw you will never be as cute as Mary
my first "coord" was this odd green coloured vintage 50s dress, too poofy, too long petticoat. one of those normalfag drapy shawl cartigans in tan, a belt of some varsity, vintage straw hat and got only knows what on my legs and feet. I even tagged it as "Lolita fashion" on tumblr. Thinking back on it there's no way I didn't get posted to the ita thread.
this dress with solid lighter green tights (still have no idea if the colours match or not), brown winter boots and some african necklace. I didn't have a petti so I wore 2 linen underskirts which kept falling down, and I think I had a blazer over it. I only wore it to theatre with a load of normies though so it's k

I forgot about this manga. Mary is one of the few really decent anime lolitas.
Would anyone know a piece that's similar to her dress or her headdress? I always wonder if they're inspired from lolita of the era. It looks like the manga first came out in 2001, so maybe something oldschool?
Pic related, I always wanted this. I also got some random Bodyline tier trash without a petticoat, but was super mad I never got it to look this good. Now that this thread brought this up, I still want something similar to this.

Someone anon was selling it a few months ago in a BST and on lacemarket. It's been sold but I'm sure if you put a WTB up for it in BST and various sales groups you could find it eventually.
I never fully read the series, but Princess Ai was my first idea on what lolita was. Then any animu arts I saw.
First "lolita" was a frumpy bodyline maid dress.

I read a lot of BL doujinshi in 6th grade and would still consider those my "inoocent years"

OP here, I haven't seen it on lolibrary or anything, but it is by a now-obsolete indie brand called The Jane Victoria. this is the only mention I've seen of it online (and where the pic came from): http://fyeahhandmadelolita.tumblr.com/post/47506376257/thejanevictoria-classic-lolita-op-in-olive-army
I love the quality and everything, it's really solidly constructed and I would definitely recommend it!
