So on the topic of past dramallamas, I just found out that a certain sour grapes lolita is apparently moving to my country and joining my comm. All I know about her is that she's been kicked out of several communities in the past for being a nasty two-faced bully, but if course now she's claiming she's changed for the better. Should I give her a second (or third or fourth or whatever) chance or keep my guard up?

Tl;dr version is she banned a girl from CoF for no reason other than being friends with the girl she bullied. Girl asked why and got no answer, got over it. Fahr posts a coordinate to CoF that also has aforementioned banned girl in the image. She also gets banned without warning, as do several others who simply commented on the picture. Fahr being Fahr calls it out, Sour grapes immediately adds a bullshit rule that you can't post pictures of banned members to cover your ass, gets called out and quits the group and declares she's left the fashion forever due to how triggered she is by it all.

Not so much a drama llama as capable of turning the mob on. She frequently referred to other lolitas (and wank comms especially) as ogres. The implication being that only she and her frilly followers were the true lolita princesses. So she has some rabid fans who were nasty.
I'm honestly kind of tired of people looking at the past with such rosy tinted glasses. There wasn't "more of a lifestyle element" to the fashion back then like people keep insisting. Anyone calling themselves lifestylers got made fun of for being deluded, and usually for not having any clothes, ffs. The most popular/envied girls in the online comms were also the biggest bitches that everyone was scared of crossing. They made the lolita fucks comms, and also made eatfuckingcake in response to the lifestyle push for "lolitas should be lovely and ladylike!"
And just a note, I'm not saying their picking on convention itas or making people fear they'd be posted to wank comms was a good thing. What I AM saying is that everyone remembers this period where lolita was about having tea and being nice to your fellow frill-wearers, and it really didn't exist except in small, individual pockets. The overall situation was almost never about "the lifestyle" unless you were someone who didn't have any lolita clothes to begin with.

To be real though, while in my opinion, there was a lot more closeness among lolitas back then, I'm fine with the way things are now. I don't want to go back to the days when there were only a handful of English sites and willing shopping services, and seeing a lolita at a convention being a general rarity.

I feel like maybe it was an artificial closeness, really. I'm still friends with the lolitas I knew back then, and I have even more lolita friends now, but there are just so damned many followers of the fashion now that it FEELS much more distant.
We were a lot more niche than now (not that lolita has gone mainstream), and I think that created a false sense of intimacy, maybe? But yeah, would not go back to the days of unreliable shopping services or crappy translations.

Oh I hate when buyers go "I wish I could buy this but siiiiigh" and even more so when they drag in something completely irrelevant that I as a seller give no shits about. In fact, if someone dragged in something so pointless as "I'm saving for transition / moving out / name change / new car / etc" then I'll make a special note that if they ever comment on another post of mine with the intention of actually buying, I make up an excuse not to sell to them because odds are, they'll either flake or string you along with "Something came up, could you hold this a few more days/weeks?"

No, seriously. I had someone pull this shit on me years ago. They'd comment on items I was selling they wanted and never once mention the word 'buy', they'd simply talk about of how pretty everything was and oh how they wished they could HAVE it, especially since their first convention was in a few weeks and they'd love to cosplay for the first time. When I told them they were welcome to purchase what they liked, they got all huffy and told me "I haven't got the money for this, I just paid for a convention ticket!" They never had any intentions of actually buying my items, they just hoped if they lamented hard enough that I'd take pity on them.

I think everyone deserves to have nice things in their life but there's certain times where you need to choose. If transitioning is important to you, but you don't have the money for both that and a luxury fashion hobby, then you need to pick. You're not always gonna be able to do both. Sometimes you need to wait that extra month (or 2, or 12) in order to afford your next purchase. People need to face the facts that while yes, everyone *can* be a lolita, not everyone will be *able* to.

Teenagers seem to do this (spam sales posts with "I want it but have no monies"), too, but not necessarily because they want to stir pity, but they want to hold some sort of conversation with the older lolitas. It's pretty normal when you're in your teen years that you have little to no money of your own to control, or if you are lucky enough to have an allowance, you have to scrounge up to save. And they don't really realize this behavior on comm posts is actually annoying as fuck for the adults who have jobs that pay (especially for the adults who have jobs that are hard work and low pay).
Once those teenagers grow up and get a job, though, they will usually put those moments on their oh-god-why-was-I-so-cringy-back-then-list that we all have.
This person looks old enough to know better, though. Yes, transitional surgery is expensive, I'm sorry you were dealt a shitty hand of fate. But literally nobody cares about what financial state it puts you in now. If you have no money to bid on a sales post, then butt out, nobody gives a damn I'd be fucking ECSTATIC if I was given a Monet painting out of the blue, but that doesn't mean I'd go to art auctions and say about any Monet piece I like "I want it but can't afford it."
