Facebook fan pages, selling prints, and now patreon. What do you think the next money grabbing, attention whoring trend will be in the cosplay community?
>>
>those bdsm shoes
this is what nightmares are made of

porn

I'm surprised there aren't more cosplayers getting that twitch money.

Like, I know some twitch sluts "cosplay" casually, but what I mean is the other way around.
>>
>>8889626
In order to make any kind of profit on twitch you really need to dedicate time to it. Even the stream whores spend a lot of time to gain a following. Cosplayers won't just get money on their first stream. You have to keep streaming consistently before you start making anything. Inb4 "but anon they're already cosfamous" yeah, but the twitch community is totally different than the cosplay one. No one cares who you are outside of twitch.
>>
>>8888922
I always figured that at some point some of these girls are going to try to make their own homemade cosplay video/DVDs, similar to gravure idols, and then selling them for a hefty price.

Generally I think that it'll follow the trend that cosplayers are their own "brands" now, because Yaya and J-Nig have been lucky to land it as brands, but it gives people the impression that theyre entitled to having their own toy line and calendars too.
>>
Luna Lanie skypes with people for a couple hours if they donate 100 or more a month to her lol
>>
>>8889642
Jessica Nigiri streams here and there (casual streams) and she has a sub button. The popular cosplayers will get a following fast.
>>
>>8888938
Agreed anon. People are already at the point of asking beta dudes for money to pay attention to them. At least actual porn stars and strippers are honest about it.
>>
>>8890007
She also uses Twitter following services and buys likes/followers.

private sessions

i've already done it, 500$ for 30minutes, i dressed as a character the costumer asked for and did some dancing, nothing kinky. good money, and costumer had fun too

She JUST got it though iirc

>nigri

i think most of us can agree she would be the exception to the rule. because while >>8889642 is absolutely correct, it's pretty obvious that nigri can make twitch work with far less effort based purely on the numbers she's coming in with, but for almost anyone else the time commitment required would be prohibitive unless they were truly committed.

i'm assuming you're a girl. also, i don't want to cast judgment for whatever it is you're doing at these private sessions because that is not my place. but don't you think you should use a different word for that than "cosplay"? there's nothing wrong with sex work, exotic dancing or burlesque, it's just that the word cosplay is now being used as a blanket term for all of these things only because there is a costume involved. now, i get it, the actual word "cosplay" refers to "costume play" which is very generic by itself, but can't we all kind of agree that in reality it's actually more specific than that? where is the line between dressing up as characters as fandom on one side, and straight up fetish modelling and sex work on the other? exotic dancers will wear nurse/teacher/other outfits for some of their routines, which is totally fine, but we don't just automatically call them cosplayers for that reason. where is the line? are people ashamed to call themselves fetish models, and so use the term "cosplayer" because it sounds more family-friendly? if so, then that doesn't seem fair to other cosplayers who may not want to be associated with risque/boudoir/fetish.

TL;DR
>it's fine to do sexy/sexualized costume play
>but it's not always fair or accurate to call it "cosplay"
>>
>>8888922
I actually don't mind the print selling. Some images I really like on my wall.

Though there is one thing I don't like about print selling. Overcharging on shipping. Some like to charge high shipping and when you get it in the mail it's a craptastic, generic, no tracking, non-cushioned mailer. For the price it should at least have tracking.
>>
>>8890490
what site hosts you doing this? Is it hard/difficult to get into?
>>
>>8890854
>that doesn't seem fair to other cosplayers who may not want to be associated with risque/boudoir/fetish
it's too late, anon. most normies already associate cosplay with JNig and Yaya's tits and think that it's like costume sex.
>>
>>8893397
as evidenced by the fap threads the janitors allow now.

500$ for 30 mins, not even sexual!?!?!

Who the fuck what why
>>
>>8890490

You're the costumer.
>>
>>8889830
FranDan tried to do that. I don't think it went well. Has anyone noticed it's always women who pull this shit? What's even worse is these sad autists who give to these people. I mean Jesus Christ who the hell hasn't seen some tits before.

>>8893557
They've been removed before, now they stay forever.

>>8890007
She is the definition of whoring yourself out. Fake likes, faked a sob story for attention and in general just ape-shit crazy. Attacks people all the time.

even it not nude, non nude can still be sexual

look at all the money twitch streamers get from showing a bit of cleavage

plenty of guys will pay lots of money for stuff like this
>>
>>8895118
She doesn't even play games herself but puts prerecorded gameplay on just long enough she can stream under "counter strike" without getting banned.
In reality just talks about herself and overreacts to donations by crying and rolling on floor.
She has nothing to do with actual cosplay or streaming games.
>>
>>8895118
Her cosplays aren't even great. it's just all boobs.

Still salty how many Likes she got for her QoP cos when it lacked body paint, it feels like more of a statement about the cosplayer than the character she's cosplaying.

THUMBS UP ATTITUDE ERA

but honestly I wish there was more cosplay wrestling shows at conventions.

Don't forget fake boobs
>>
>>8888938
to be honest, yeah, I bet you're right. there's already cosplay deviants and similar shit, even some super risque cosplay shoots going on. at some point someone is gonna make it a regular thing.

anyways, prints can go either way. if they're cool pics I can see the appeal, problem is too many no-name and/or awful cosplayers try to sell prints of themselves thinking they're jnig. my friend has a decent number of likes on facebook though not much interaction, bought prints cause she thought people would care even though literally no one knows who she is aside from random dudes at cons thinking she's a hot cosplay chick. I remember she told me she still had pretty much all the prints she bought and it was difficult as fuck for her to sell any.

>>8889830
I can see this happening too...just more general weird merchandise trying to get pedaled.

other than that, more "personal time" stuff probably like....beyond just personal skype chats or whatever. I could see someone offering to spend time with someone for a day cosplaying their waifu and just like, roleplaying them all day. I dunno if that would be a trend but I can see certain cosplayers definitely trying to do that if they haven't tried it already.

damn, wtf. now that I typed that out, I see why some people think cosplay is some kinda sex thing. What happened? How did it get this way? We used to be a bunch of ugly nerds running around in poorly sewn satin cosplays with shitty neon halloween store wigs.

> I see why some people think cosplay is some kinda sex thing. What happened? How did it get this way? We used to be a bunch of ugly nerds running around in poorly sewn satin cosplays with shitty neon halloween store wigs.

I often wonder this too. I've been around since the late 90s and I know we had boob and sexiness then. We had Naga the Serpent, Animal Magnetism, swimsuit Asuka, and Cammy cosplay.
But it wasn't the focus.

We had people who were doing it for the attention too. They were the ones who cosplayed from a game before it was even released stateside.

Both of those things happened but it was no big deal.
I think it was because no one was doing only that. They had games they actually played and shows they liked in addition to the sexy cosplay or the want for attention cosplay. We didn't have anyone who was being so shallow as to ONLY do stuff because it was sexy or attention grabbing.

But we let it happen. No one kicked out the people who clearly weren't here for the same thing. We're stuck with it now.

I really wish we had another name for what they do.

>>8895919
Ugh, QoP suffers from people who cosplay her not doing the body paint or make-up bit. What's the point then? Almost every QoP cosplay I see is just the skimpy outfit.
>>
>>8890041
when did she get it? When I looked at her twitch channel 2 days ago she didn't have it.

>>8890007
She's also one of the admins for the Zam sites like Wowhead, HearthHead, HeroKings, etc.
>>
>>8896097
honestly, I don't even see many sexy cosplays at conventions. Most of the girls just cosplay guys and the guys don't even like bother to wear costumes (unfortunately).
>>
>>8888936
Actually pretty accurate for the character.
