>$4.99
Would you buy this?
>>
>>8885759
>that fabric
I wouldn't spit on it.
>>
Look like Halloween costumes, but yeah, it's $5 so I might consider it if i could flip through it first. Might be good for a laugh and a random tip or two could actually be good.
>>
>>8885759
>dat random Jane

is Tarzan that popular?
>>
>>8885759
>coloring pages

are they literally trying to market to children
>>
>>8885759
Why is there corsets on everything?

I'd buy a seifuku just so I don't have to see my own, but that's it.
>>
>>8885779
They're trying to market to people who like to play dressup as cartoon characters.
>>
>>8885779
Adult coloring books are big for some reason now. It seems like this book is intended to throw everything trendy at the wall and see what sticks. Also cosplayers who are making their own stuff are more creatively inclined and would be more likely to enjoy something like that. My guess would be that the coloring pages are drawings of the Simplicity patterns, so you can color them and plan out your cosplay. mite b cool

Simplicity 8160 ("anime schoolgirl uniform") will be out in April 2016 for sizes 6-22 (though the pattern book says 4-22).

>女キャラクター
I like how Simplicity google translated "female character" to put into the magazine

I see a decent base to work off of, but not wearing the dresses exactly like the models

There were coloring pages for superheroes and Game of Thrones as well.

The pages for DIY things were on par with what you'd normally see in Halloween ideas magazines.
>>
>>8885765
surely the main issue should be whether the actual cuts represented here are decent, fabric quality can be changed and determined by the individual (to a point of course, some patterns don't lend themselves to certain fabrics).
>>
>>8885759
>>8885870

NGL I'd buy some cheapass, reasonably accurate outfits to fuck in. Is that what this is peddling?
>>
>>8885874
I actually really like both of these as bases. Would definitely buy.
>>
>>8885874
need a pattern of the right one (without so much cleavage showing)
>>
>>8885999
it'd be easily fixed by removing the cap sleeves on the dress itself and pairing it with a blouse

Heck, I would.
50% coupons better be worth it though.
>>
>>8885874
I wanted to look at the free pattern for a laugh, but it's not up yet?
>>
>>8886079

It'll probably be another week to the end of March before everything is up. The magazine is supposed to be a part of Simplicity's Spring/Early Summer collection and it's currently a little bit early.

>>
>>8885874
I'm laughing at the bonnet, it looks so stupid!
I would totally buy either of these, they seem great for working off of, like other anons have said.
>>
So this is like in the fabric section of JoAnns? Seems interesting enough to pick up.
>>
Someone needs to parody that "put a bird on it" Portlandia sketch as "put a corset on it".
>>
>>8886147
This belongs in the bad makeup thread, holy fuck. Also, why is Moon not wearing tights? Her legs look weirdly grainy.
>>
>>8885874

>no trim on the bustled skirt
>so close yet so far

Pls if anons are buying these as bases, add a trim to the dress hem before you bustle it (dresss on the right). A ruffle is the usual, but at least a wide braid or some venise lace. It looks horribly unfinished without a trim like this
>>
>>8885877
I need to purge this from my memory. Holy shit, those eyes are making my soul shrivel.
>>
>>8885874
totally feeling view B as every day/normie wear, reminds me a little bit of this dress from Wheels & Dollbaby

How long before Nintendo comes down on this? There is no Nintendo stamp or mention anywhere on the pattern. You can say it's Zelda-inspired and not a specific, trademarked character, but isn't Nintendo kind of tight about who gets to use their property, especially when money is involved?
>>
>>8890090
>that totally-not-a-triforce on the dress
Heh.
>>
>>8890090
They've gotten around a lot of trademark shit with franchise costumes. Do note that not-Zelda doesn't have an actual triforce on her costume.
>>
>>8885985
they're patterns

>>8886014
same, anon. same. Donte's facial expression and all.

>>8890090
Iirc as long as it's 10% different from the original source, they're clear.
Simplicity could be like "we changed a, b, c, x, y, and z and that makes it different enough".
>>
I plan on getting the Simplicity Zelda pattern when the next sale starts on March 6 ($1.99/each).
>>
>>8893211
shit i wont be able to go then when it starts. i wanna get what i want before all the other cosplayers take up the stock
>>
I'm planning on picking up the steam punk pattern as it'd be a useful base for my Treize cosplay.
>>
>>8885870
I wouldn't mind owning a cheap pattern for a standard seifuku to use over and over a million times.
>>
>>8885771
I think that is more along the lined of steampunk as well. Or can be altered for more traditional European clothing types as well.
>>
>>8885759
Skimmed this book yesterday and was underwhelmed. 75% of it is a costume pattern catalog, a few coloring pages, and the tutorials were for specific items. A Harley Quinn hammer made from two hatboxes, a Jack Skellington bow tie pattern/tutorial, a makeup tutorial (forget what this was for), and something about Perler beads to make pixel art. Possibly others but I forget.

There were a few 50% coupons in the back that are good till the end of this year, that would be the part that's really worth it imo.

Also there's a historical 18th century pattern set coming out which looks good for middle/lower class if anyone's into that.
