Share & discuss coords using normie clothes. Is it a taboo? When does it work? When doesn't it work?
>>8882146
Man, I love this coord. I think that it really breaks when the silhouette isn't fitted, like when someone wears a baggy band tee in lolita.
I really dig the style, but not as lolita. I see it as some sort of normal fashion, just a unique way of doing it.
The first thing that comes to mind is ALB. I like how she pairs her AP skirts with normal clothing, but I'd never consider it lolita. I don't think she considers it lolita either.
>>8882179
I'm all for wearing lolita in normal and otome outfits but that top just doesn't go. At least pick something that matches.
>>8882179
This thread is for lolita coords that contain normie pieces not normie clothing with lolita pieces.
Pic you shared is wrong from head to toe.

Why do people like this? It looks like 90s yard sale shit, I'm sick of seeing it posted.
>>8882223
Probably the only time I've seen denim with Lolita where it looked good.
>>8882189
>she's fat
are you serious rn
she looks average there
like, this is coming from an actual fattychan. I'm gonna guess you're just being a dick but she definitely isn't fat, not even chubby.
>>8882377
They were trolling but on the upchance they weren't, I hate the whole tuck in your shirt thing because it literally makes everyone look bigger.
I'm never wearing skirts in lolita because of this shit.
I love mixing lolita and normie clothes on casual days. I've had a minor issue with my comm tough, someone saw me in town and decided to tell everyone I don't understand how you're supposed to wear lolita. Even tough I never would have called that coord lolita.
>>8882410
Your comm sound like shitheads. Who does that? Unless you're posting it in CoF who does that
>>8882179
I Love ALB so much and I like the coord thought its not remotely lolita.
I thought this was the ita thread...
>>8882368
Nah it's very cute. Do you even fashion?
>>8882233
is that Heidruna?
>>8882504
She went by dkmissanya or something like that before and she is from denmark, that's all I know
>>8882410
Though. "Tough" is the one that's pronounced "tuff".
>>8882372
>looked good
kek
>>8882189
Are you the person in the ita thread calling everyone fat?
Stop.
>>8884797
That jacket is very cute but I don't think it goes well in OTT
>>8884797
Wasn't this the winner or runner up at an AP party last year?
>>8884797
I would change the shoes and the head wear but other than that I really really love this
I mix normie and lolita clothes pretty often, it can be really cute. It's not the kind of thing I would wear to a meet or post of COF of course, but I like to think of it as "half-lolita". Brand miniskirts + normie cardigans is my favorite combo.
old but her yellow blazer is normie and got lots of positive feedback from d_l
>>8884797
Call me crazy buy I fucking love the idea
Not so fan of the flower crown too
So is this thread about pairing lolita with normie loliable clothes or just trying to find a palatable combo with ugly clothing? Because the latter is what I'm seeing.
>>8882179
tbf she is attractive enough to pull most anything off
>>8885168
I think she won best dressed.
>>8885992
then contribute first faggot
Tbh I don't see normie jackets and cardigans that big of a deal in coords as long as they look at least somewhat nice and aren't super trashy.
>>8882146
I hate seeing normal shoes and blouses with lolita. They ruin the whole look.
>Is it a taboo?
How can it be when lolitas use cardigans, jackets, berets, etc in coords all the time?
> When does it work? When doesn't it work?
The biggest problem with using non-lolita clothing with lolita pieces is cut. Most western pieces are cut to end at the hips or accentuate them, but lolita pieces are all about the waist. So pieces like OP pic work because it accentuates the waist and keeps to the lolita silhouette.
It's basically why peignors didn't really work that well. They didn't flatter the silhouette.
>>8886330
Sure.
Normie shoes, because not all Lolita shoes have to be clown flats.
Like >>8888137 said, Lolita utilizes a lot of basic clothing items like blouses, cardigans, berets, hats. The trick is to keep them in the style of lolita.
I shop a lot for normie clothing for work and I can't tell you how much I run into good versatile tops that can also be used in Lolita.
I honestly think this thread should be renamed "unusual items in Lolita" since people use non certified Lolita brand in Lolita all the time not because they try to make it fit, but it happens to fit the aesthetic. And it happens more often than you think.

I have a chunk-knit cowl neck sweater from Karen Millen with I have worn a few times with a very simple high-waisted IW skirt with a petti underneath. The sweater balances well with the also black skirt (the Himari skirt). I'm teamed it finally with a pair of also KM lace up, calf-length boots with pointy toes and stiletto heels. I've even worn this combo to work, and had a lot of compliments on how smart I looked. I also have used some of my Jfash brand blouses in my normal work wardrobe, and vice versa, with a TM Lewins blouse of mine a favourite to use in lolita coords as it has the right cut to it. I never have, and never will, use lolita specific shoes.
>>8888176
That combo does sound interesting! Could you collage it perhaps? I'm intrigued.
>>8888202
No pictures of it, sorry, and don't have the time to take a pic for you - really busy at the moment. Both the boots and sweater are several years old. The sweater hides the high waist of the skirt. Even though it hides the skirt's high-waist, it still somehow works, even though it really isn't a lolita coord.
