It's the skirt combined with the top. The shape of the skirt is borderline because of that weird waist sash thing, but when you put it with a top that casual, it kind of shifts away from lolita.

It's the fucking wig. The frosted hair makes everyone looks like they're from 2005 suburbia; that one girl from SF who posts on CoF has a wig just like this - I forget her name but most of you probably know who I'm talking about - and people here complain about the same thing all the time, about her wig making her look like a cheerleader or a soccer mom.
We need to ban all wigs with frosted highlights from lolita because it throws coords off way too much stylistically for some reason. (Well, I guess because of the cultural association)
CoF posts always amaze me because I genuinely marvel at how many people have a large, empty wall or space somewhere in their house. I never post pictures because every wall is full of bookshelves crammed with all my stuff (and it's not elegant classic books or kawaii dolls shit for a good background).
All my windows are not well situated to take pictures with nice lighting and the mirrors either in bathrooms (lol toilet-chan) or they're on the backs of doors and will reflect my messy room haphazardly crammed with mismatching weeb shit.
I look at these photos and 90% of the time I'm more impressed with the light and the space than I am the coord and the dress.

I have a pair of cheapo Ikea floor lamps that I use to give even lighting for outfit shots, takes about two minutes to set up. You can swap those for desk lamps or even clamp lamps from a hardware store if you want to save $$ and space. The light should be coming on an angle from either side, about face level and far enough back that it reaches your feet.
Figuring out how to take nice photos is a bit of a hassle, but I feel like it's worth a little time to better document outfits that I've put so much time & money into already!

I think the problem with Moitie in the current lolita climate is that people want to make every coordinate unique and special and different from everyone else. The idea of wearing a full set is now sneered at as dull and lacklustre (when it used to cause intense envy to see girls head to toe in a release set).
