People wear Lolita to cosplay events, does that mean what I think it means?
>>

nah they probably want to show off

People wear casual clothes to cosplay events, does that mean what I think it means?
>>
>>8866058
Yes, they're cosplaying background characters.
>>
I don't... Not a big fan of con lolitas, it's such a gross environment to wear nice stuff in. I always cosplay even though I wear lolita frequently, even casually
>>
It is cosplay in my eyes
>>
No, Patrick, lolita is not a type of cosplay.
VISUAL KEI IS NOT A TYPE OF COSPLAY EITHER
>>
>>8866195
Do you not go to cons with lolita panels, events, and meet-ups?

I wish people would stop doing that. It totally gives everyone the idea that it is a costume.

That being said I wore lolita all 3 days of a con last year because I didn't have any cosplays. It sucked because I wear lolita all the time anyways and it just felt like plainclothes. I tried to be OTT but it was just like a normal coord with a wig.
>>
Lolita's are stupidly uptight over this. It has all the elements of cosplay, so it's only understandable someone might think it's actually a costume or character.

But, no OP, it's not really cosplay. There's just some lolitas that go to events that have cosplay.
>>
>responding seriously to a bait thread

i have no hope for you guys
>>

>all the elements of cosplay
Except the main one which is, you know, dressing like a specific character.
>>
>>8866290
Cosplay literally is abbreviated from "costume play" and it doesn't have to be a specific character. Wearing a generic maid costume is cosplay too.

According to JoAnn, it is cosplay

I do but they're overrun with shitty itas and high schoolers compared to our normal meetups
>>
>>8866316
I knew it was bait but this is something that actually bothers me unironically and I think we should call out lolitas who go to cons besides rufflecon
>>
>>8867260
Do you plan on doing that for western cosplay at anime cons?
>>
>>8866195
I wear lolita to cons because other lolitas I normally only see at cons will be there. Usually there is a luncheon too, depending on the con. It's not like people are grabbing or sweating on our frills constantly so I don't see why wearing lolita at cons is more disgusting than wearing it out anywhere else.

Op here again I figured I'd ruffle a few petticoat.
>>
>>8869315
I like how people think that makes for anything remotely close to trolling on /cgl/. We were so ~trolléd~. Go smudge some chocolate on your AP, then we'll talk about petticoats getting rustled.
>>
>>8869330
Getting chocolate smudged on someone's dress isn't something I'd wish upon my worst enemy.
>>
>>8866290
I wear a Lolita character cosplay to cosplay meets. Yes, it's fun. No, I wouldn't wear it to a Lolita meet, it's cosplay. I wear Lolita coords to cons if I'm attending Lolita activities there. This isn't a big problem that needs sorting.
>>
>>8867260
There are Lolita activities at many anime cons. Don't be dense.
>>
I wear lolita to cons because a. It's what I wear on weekends and b. A con is one place I can wear it without getting bothered since there are people more dressed up than I am.

OP here, I'm a man so AP is a no, but Boz is pretty kickass.
>>
>>8866108
There have been lolita background characters in several movies set in Japan.
>>
Lol conventions are the only time people can wear OTT sweet nowadays. At my last convention I wore Squirrel Party and weebs were creaming themselves. If someone wore classic or even gothic they'd mostly be looked past at a con.
>>
>>8869409
Exactly this. Thank you.
>>
>>8867260
What about if it's a con with a brand panel like AP or something? When I went to Sakuracon there was an AP panel and a lolita fashion show and I saw tons of girls around in lolita

This

Cosplay isn't something you'd wear daily. Lolita is.
>>
It's not a type of cosplay, but there must be some worthwhile overlap, because Angelic Pretty and BTSSB advertise in cosplay magazines.

>>8866210
Are you not old enough to remember when people used to cosplay as J-rockers?
>>
>>8867256
I got to show off to the itas, assert my dominance over their unfashionable asses
