I feel Ranma cosplays are one of the most popular ones for older series. At least here since it was one of the biggest series which made everyone weeaboo 10 years ago.

For whatever reason I still see one Chrono Crusade cosplay every con. It's bizarre to me. It was my first "not adult swim" anime, got into conventions around the time it came out, and while I loved it I didn't think it would have this long a lasting impression.

I think we all feel special and in our own little worlds with all the less popular retro shit we like.
Not even trying to be a special snowflake but if being an anime nerd is more mainstream now, then being into a subgenre like retro stuff is more rare and thus it feels more special when coming across fans of it. Hence the feelings of gittyness when seeing others into it perhaps. I don't think it makes us better than anyone else. However something like Creamy Mami is never going to be as popular as other shit at a con like Attack on Titan or whatever so saying no one will recognize you could be true.
Even if people recognize you they may never have seen the show as well. I have that happen all the time with retro stuff.

Escaflowne, proper big Rurouni Kenshin groups, Nadia, Flame of Recca, Violinist of Hameln... hell, Fushigi Yuugi for the nostalgia factor alone.
I also miss and want to see Hoshin Engi groups, but that series vanished off the face of the earth in terms of fans.
The ones that have never been all that popular that I still want to see are Tenshi ni Narumon (my group did the series, but I've seen so little TnN cosplay otherwise), Hana Yori Dango (too casual, not enough male fans maybe?), and Please Save My Earth (shit, I want a group for this so badly!) Also, Arslan Senki is perfect for complex group cosplay, especially since Amano did the original illustrations.

I used to love Mermaid Melody... I really want to make an Ingram, however I live too far away from any cons atm without a car to do anything other than the Reactive armor type for comfort.
I only ever make solid or flexible pieces and diving into something as complicated as the flak jacket would not lead to good results.
A regular padded/lined jacket is what i could get and viably wear/alter, but I feel at that point the design is too watered down and would only be a disappointment to other fans

This is the sort of shit I get hyped about seeing when I'm at cons. I noticed it's generally people around my age or older atendees who cosplay the retro stuff, and it makes for great spur of the moment hang out sessions and chatting about stuff.

Having a small LOGH group is one of my biggest cosplay dreams. Reinhard, Kircheis, Yang and Julian are the most recognisable characters so those four probably. I'd be best suited for Julian.

Ok...someone please clarify this for me. Takuto is HOW much older than her? He was the one who named her or whatever after she was born, then was in the coma...then woke back up during the end? The ages were so confusing in this.

Mitsuki is 12 at the start of the anime, 13 at the end.
In the Manga she is 12 and ends with her being 16.
Takuto is said to be 16 in the anime, however the time line makes no sense. Since he was riding a motorcycle when he died, so he had to be over 20. He was 14 when Mitsuki was born and died not to long after. So had to be 20. Plus 14 years later, in the Anime however he was "reborn" so he was brought back at the age he died. Still weird.
There is also a time in the manga where Takuto meets Mitsuki when she was 4, making him 16 since Takuto actually named Mitsuki before she was born, when he was 12.
So there is an official age gap of 12 years.
Making Takuto 24 mentally, however he died when he was 16 meaning he still has the body of his 16 year old self. So technically he is 16. Since he was brought back to life.
Damn this manga is complicated.

Incidentally, I watched the Korean version a couple years ago. It was very good. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend it of you haven't seen it. Last I checked it was on Netflix.
