What do you gulls think of Kimura U's version?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6nLRZSBMoE
>>
>>8847733
Cute, I love the old school bright colour manba feel
If I were to "improve" it to make it more old school a matte foundation and slightly larger droop and lash would be better
But I really like it as a whole and her own look
>>
>>8847733
Seeing this just makes me nostalgic for the old manba days where it was all tropical looks and wandering the streets in bright colors and dyed hair.

>tfw I'm a pale ginger who can't even artificial tan more than two shades
Always wanted to look like a gyaru because they looked like they had so much fun and I was always wanting that group of friends.
>>
>>8847733
I like it pretty much, but I also feel sad that her video gets more likes than dislikes just because she's so kawaii and if a kawaii person does it for fun it's ok, but if people like the BD members do their makeup it's pure evil and racism much and what not.
>>
>>8848064
you could easily just go shiro, shiro is like all about super pale skin even if its kinda rare, as long as you can contour well for your shade it doesnt matter
>>
Is Gyaru dead (at least in the West)
>>
>>8854791
Yes

La pafait anon here. Package is going to be here either tomorrow or Wednesday. Review will follow! I'm going to be so kawaii.

It still lives on in different forms and different names. Agejo isn't really dead and hime gyaru has stayed alive well. Kuro gyaru is still a thing too.
>>
Anyone have any suggestions for the best sugimori wig? I know priscila is good but is it really good for the price or are there cheaper options?
>>
>>8854791
it's not as big as it used to be but there are still circles, and comms, in fact i have two meets in the next two months
i wear a mix of rokku and kuro
>>
>>8854853
Who do you follow for rokku inspiration? I've been looking for some stuff to follow as I'm just starting to get into the style after losing some weight.
>>
>>8854824
They're actually super nice but if you want cheaper just look for a thicker wig with layers cut into it (of I suppose you could do that yourself

>>8855812

Part 1~

1. Black and pink sleeveless OP: Fully lined, seems well made. Lace and tulle surprisingly soft. Matches picture well. Shirring in back, with side zipper and clasp. Very comfy and super cute! 10/10

2. White/pink bolero: Nice and soft like the OP, fairly well made, lace is a bit off in the front, not too noticeable. Exactly like picture. Lace around bows is a different shade than edging lace, but not that noticeable. Very stretchy. Has a heart button with LP brand name on it as on a few other things I own. 8/10 for the color difference.

3. Pink OP: Fancy material, fully lined(lining is a totally different tone of pink) Well made. Tulle is very scratchy(hopefully will soften in wash) Very cute, exactly like picture. Back zipper, no shirring, fits well. 6/10 for the tulle itching.

4. White bow cutsew: I was sent the pink instead of white. It's okay, but I'm still kind of disappointed. Well made, lace is slightly scratchy. Looks like picture(only pink with white bows) Long and comfy. 4/10 unhappy about the color but item itself is 8/10 I can atleast wear it.
>>
>>8855852
Part 2~

5. Pink lacy purse: I was sent the wrong purse here too. I received the boston bag style instead of square one. It looks almost the same, pink with the same design style. Fairly well made, with a bit of glue strings in some areas. Cute and roomy. 6/10 for glue and wrong style.

6. Black gingham OP: Very cute! Super nice soft material, lace, lining etc. Bows are removable. Exactly like picture. Side zipper with back shirring and a waist tie(like lolita) probably second fave piece. 10/10

7. Bow clip set: This set matches the pink OP well(hopefully I will wear it) seems well made, looks better than picture. Rose, small bow and pearl chain are removable from the larger bow, rose is also 2-way. Seems well made with no glue or anything. Bit large and heavy but no issue with that on my end. 10/10

8. Black and pink cutsew: Very disappointed in this. Bottom lace, and sleeve lace are not stretchy, very difficult to put on, as well as bright pink while bows are lighter. Lace is not soft and top is fairly uncomfortable. Sleeves remove easily with buttons, bows are not removable. 4/10 for annoying lace. I will likely get the lace replaced so I can wear it properly.

9: White and pink arm warmers: Fairly well made, some glue and loose threads. Cute and comfortable. LP brand bows are used which makes it nice. Very stretchy and soft. 10/10

I have quite a number of tops and outfits from the lucky pack that I thought was only accessories! I will see if I can find pics or take pics of them and review later.

All in all, brand is somewhat inconsistent. You are likely paying for the brand name rather than quality, but it is a very unique brand. 7/10 over all for some screw ups and inconsistencies. Buy second hand perhaps if you are worried for quality, that way you get more of what you pay for. I will continue to buy from them regardless.
>>
>>8854810
I heard oneegyaru is the only one still alive in Shibuya.
>>
>>8855812
>>8855852
>>8855865
Very cute. Though having the mixups with 4,5 and the issue with 8 makes them seem quite unreliable. Will you get a refund/buy another 4/5?

Also would like deets on lp and pics of the OPs and purse
>>
>>8856250
I will probably buy new 4, not 5 though probably. I actually like this one better honestly. Pics coming soon!
>>
>>8856250
Also, as far as my lucky pack. I got 2 pairs of shoes, one very cute jean OP, 2 black x pink cutsew shirts and for accessories, 3 headbows, pink, 2 with prints(their candy print and perfume one) 1 is a perfect match to one of the cutsews, a deco'd out my melody pin, a set of knit arm warmers, a necklace and a somewhat endearing cat head charm with lace along the bottom of it. As I said I will also post some pics.
>>
>>8855047
Not the anon you replied to, but I have the same problem. There are like 100 photos of rokku gyaru and that's it. I have look EVERYWHERE but theres always the same photos
You can look on ebay, but they are more visual k than rokku.
>>

Gyaru is on its last legs in Tokyo but up in Osaka it's actually still thriving, so there's that
>>
>>8858760
I saw a lot of gyaru when I went to Osaka, I'd usually see a handful of different girls every day in the trendy areas of the city. Mostly onee gals, but I saw a few tsuyome and ora ora gals too.
>>
>>8858870
I wish I could do ora ora but it's pretty hard when you aren't stick thing because it tends to end up looking super basic haha

What do you guys think of the new Gal Valentines FB group? I think it's pretty stupid to have it in a closed group versus a public like page
>>
A UK gal made this interactive map so that gyaru around the world can find each other easily! If you are interested you can add your location and SNS here

https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=1851996&item=103023848
>>
There're also a lot of gals around nagoya and fukuoka as far as I know. As well as in the surrounding areas of Tokyo aka Saitama, Chiba etc but not in Tokyo itself
>>
>>8855047
mainly re:no and old sakurina
I have a few friends who wear rokku in my local scene that I adore to follow, but mainly i just look at models for rokku style brands like glavil etc
I also like to throw a bit of kuro/tsuyomme in so i look at the punkier side of that for inspo as well
>>
>>8859031
The original g_v mods made a page for it. Who the fuck were the admins of that group one anyway? Literally never heard of either of them and to be honest they both look like shit.

As for ora ora, do you read Soul Sister? That's the go-to ora ora magazine and there's girls with all kinds of body types in there. Lots of thick thighs and stuff.
>>
>>8859661
i'd heard of one of them before, but I didn't realise you had to be known to make a group
They look totally acceptable to me
>>
>>8859661
I should probably download some scans it's just hard because I literally have a 40 inch hip so most things lay very differently and give a completely different look

>>8859878
They honestly look extremely mediocre but they just have shitty attitudes. I was submitting a valentine and they told me I couldn't because they didn't like the person it was about. How can you run a group like that but pick and choose who can and cannot have valentine's posted about them? I'm so glad the original mods made their own page.
>>
>>8859917
weird, haven't seen any one talk about that yet. don't get why you'd say they look like shit if they look mediocre though.
>>
>>8859878
To make a group based on a big part of international gal culture and just take it over as if it were your idea? Uh yeah, you kinda have to be established to do that. It's just not newbie territory, especially if it's someone so new they think 'gyarus' is a thing.

>>8859925
That was two different people, anon.
>>
>>8859955
from what i'd seen of valentines it was pretty much dead though wasn't it? oh well I don't really get involved in comms or circles I'm kinda a solo gal
>>8859955
oops just assumed same because no one else had talked about it
>>
Hi Rachel :)
>>
>>8859962
Nah, it had recently been handed over to new mods, who were already planning a new FB page. Just a couple of nobodies decided to jump the shark.
>>
>>8859973
Ohhhh I see, that's pretty shitty timing of them lmao (the group gals not the originals)
>>
>>8859976
Yeah, ikr. I guess they probably didn't know, but I would have thought it was obvious not to just yoink an established thing like that without poking the mods to see whether it was actually dead. Oh well, noobs gonna noob I guess. I hope the new page gets a good following, submitting valentines over FB is SO much easier. I already submitted a whole bunch to help get it going.
>>
>>8859976
Pretty much. I mean it was nice people still give a shit but it works better as a page. Dont need two of them
>>
Lmao lolitas tryna take over gal
>>
>>8859979
How could they not have known though? Secrets and Valentines are like the first things you learn of when discovering the gaijin gal comm. I think they just wanted a quick road to popularity but it's going to end up biting them in the ass.
>>
>>8859991
This sounds entirely possible. Christ when will bitches learn that internet fame is entirely worthless.

...yeah, I'm aware of the irony of saying this on /cgl/.
>>
I knew of these pages but who the fuck uses livejournal anymore? surprised they didn't have a Facebook page for them sooner.
>>
>>8856199
actually, my japanese friends say they see rokku a lot more often!
>>
>>8857742
as long as you have a feel for alternative fashion and know gal basics, rokku outfits are pretty easy (but it can egt a bit mixed with goshikku pretty easily)
>>
>>8859962
nobody was submitting anymore? Didn't surprise me as livejournal is outdated as fuck anyways
>>
>>8859986
Lolitas haven't cared about gyaru anymore than they have in the past. Gyaru's themselves let the style die.
>>
>>8859973
A couple of nobodies who kept self-posting themselves and each other
>>
>>8860241
and then deleted the whole group because one got called ugly, good riddance
>>
>>8860217
Gyaru styles can honestly get so confusing, especially with other jfash styles. Shibuya used to be the core, now what's happened? Where's the best place to buy/learn about gyaru?
>>
>>8860320
Id say for rokku, the brands gladnews and ghost of harlem are still going strong, for inspo I look at RE:NO, Jojo (jojo evilchocobunny) and normal goth/alternative fashion icons. Make it slightly more "cute sexy" or "cool" to fit the gyaru look, add the hair and makeup (look at mando, jojo, xin for western inspo, or their friends) and you are pretty much good to go
>>
Does anyone know what happened to GalVIP Magazine? They deleted all their pages
>>
>>8860392
They ceased publication because I guess the girl who started it originally wanted it back. Oh well lol

Someone is supposed to be starting a new gaijin mag, but I haven't heard of it past the concept
>>
>>8860241
Did they actually? I never joined the group so I wouldn't know. How do you know it was selfposting?

>>8860271
I saw that! Where did she even get called ugly though? It wasn't on here. Girl's got issues.
>>
>>8860732
its obviously self-post. They're both ugly and haven't done anything worth noting. So why were 90% of the valentines about one or the other?
>>
What is the state of hime gyaru right now? (Not hime-kaji stuff like Liz Lisa.) Is Jesus Diamante still doing okay and other hime gyaru brands?
>>
>>8860779
Mhm, I wouldn't really call either of them ugly myself, they just completely suck at gal. But yeah that sounds like some mad selfpost. How pathetic. O well, they can rot in their irrelevance now that we have a proper gv Facebook page.
>>
>>8860821
La Parfait -all shops closed, maybe still a webstore. Jesus- closed most stores, image changed
>>
>>8860821
I haven't really seen it in years, everyone is doing tsuyome, agejo, rokku and onee but that has always been the older generation.
>>
>>8860831
Hime died, the only thing you can do is buying overprized ruby rose accessories and maybe some of the alternative stuff ap and btssb are making

Yamanba is my all time fav.

But I'm 1) scared of dumb people thinking it's balckface
2) I can't find foundation darker than orange and since I can't wear it everyday but would only do it for fun I don't want to spend like 20$ on some color
>>
>>8863875
Are you not looking at foundations for black people at all? Also idk if you're willing to but I find darker shades apply a bit better if you fake(or real I guess) tan, reduces the obvious streaking and face paint effect
>>
>>8863875
Maybe try to mix a bit of your foundation with darker pigment (the cheapest option, but may not work well) or look into pro ranges (probably investment, but at least will work).
>>
>>8863875
if people think its black face, educate them, just say "no, It's actually based on a japanese fashionstyle that goed against the beautystandard "pale is beautiful", it's not blackface"

I'm honestly not surprised that hime died. I know j-fashion can be pricey, but anything I got from La Pafait or JD was really mediocre quality. Thankfully I paid very little for them second hand, but they weren't worth a fraction of their retail price.
I'm no poorfag, I'll spend big for something if I like it, but it honestly just wasn't worth it.
>>
>>8874550
It looks like someone's first lolita sewing project, holy shit.
>>
> finally making enough money to start gal
> check lg, most comms seem dead, hardly any secret posts compared to six years ago (when I discovered it)

Hopefully there will be a revival at some point. I really love rokku.
>>
>>8874559
Hime brands where really overpriced. I once wanted to buy a semi big hair clip at la pafait as some kind of a souvenir. I first checked the quality and everything was just hot glued together and then I saw the price tag and it was like 50$ and was like 'nope, bye'

>>8868538
This is absolutely adorable. Is this himekaji or another substyle?
Forgive my ignorance, I'm just starting.
I prefer gyaru over otome because it's much less strict about showing skin and I live in hell.
>>
>>8875647
it's agejo, himekaji isn't really even gyaru...also otome? what?? what are you on about? we don't need more style jumpers...
>>
>>8875653
Really? Thanks. Then the blog post I read about himekaji was wrong too, figures. Sorry about that.
>also otome? what?? what are you on about? we don't need more style jumpers...
Don't worry, I'm not jumping. I'm still doing research and trying to find a style I like and taking notes before I even purchase a piece of clothing.
>>
>>8875156
I'll still wear it, but the best part of jfash to me is the feeling of community. It feels like the gal community is fading out.
>>
>>8875673
It's true though, himekaji is a substyle but it's so watered down that it can't really be considered as gyaru. Maybe you could look up agejo and himegyaru, if you're more into the cuter looks
>>
>>8874936
Why do you base the activety of the style from gyaru secrets? That is so stupid. And the only way to revive it is by wearing it, buy the clothes, wear it, be the one to help revive the style.
>>
>>8876179
Hell yeah anon I was just about comment that same thing
>>
>>8876179
Yep. I feel like this is kind of a lolita problem- people see that there isn't a big social aspect to it and 'go, gyaru's dead', but gal's never really been like that in the first place. Wear the style for you, not for other people. If you inspire someone you know, hey presto, there you are reviving the style.
>>
>>8876179
You're right. Maybe I'm just used to certain communities being more readily available. I'll just learn what I can and rock it. Thank you, anonymous poster. You actually took away a lot of the iffy feelings I was having.

Question for fellow gals; are there makeup resources out there for people with big noses? My nose is ungodly long and prominent from my face in the outwards direction, but narrow. A lot of the makeup tutorials I see (and really the natural progression of the contouring in general) involves making the nose more defined, but for me my nose is plenty goddamn defined already and if anything I need to make it slightly less so. (For those of you who know lolita, LovelyLor is basically a doppleganger for me, only my nose is slightly less thick, especially at the bottom.)

I am aware that I'm an ugly horseface but I really love gyaru and I want to make it work for me.

I'll be honest with you, I think most gals with big noses just go get surgery in Korea. People in the comm are pretty casual about getting work done. It almost makes me wish I had image issues because man, surgery holidays sound exciting.

I'd still contour but stop the highlight before the tip of your nose and use the darker shade on the tip, depending on the width of your nose you could bring the dark contour in slightly and also highlight your cheeks right up to the edge of your nose. I wouldn't do everything like the pic on the right but I think it's got a decent idea of where to contour your nose, I kinda drew on Lor to give an idea of which bits would be ok to contour. I don't think you should be trying to make your face longer or make your jaw more angular, so I would skip the edge of face contouring. The only reason I included the cheekbone contouring was because you could create a more horizontal line with it and make the face slightly wider at that point.

Going to the annual Japanese festival in my town. My roommates and I will be wearing Yukatas (we are performers for the weekend so we get to be professionally dressed). We want to do our hair gal style and our makeup as such. Any pics or scans of some festival/Yukata gyaru make and hair? (Or tips)

I was about to pour scorn all over this post, but actually, that'd work as long as you're reasonably tall.

Some AP and baby dresses/salopettes can be used for hime gyaru very well (sweet loli and hime are crossing anyway)

A lot of hime gyaru wear lolita dresses. they just make them look more over the top and sexy.

I do so too. It's actually cheaper to buy sweet bodyline or second hand AP, than buying new or second hand hime brands. Also the quality is a lot better
>>
>>8878917
either crocs or over-the-knee boots without heels are always good, if rokku, any boot can work, if tsuyome, going for heels with a platform will help, it makes your legs feminine without actually having a high heel
>>
>>8879109
Some bodyline skirts are super short too.. I'm 5'1" and they are almost too short on me for lolita... but for gyaru they'd be cute
>>
>>8878848
Thank you! This helps a lot. The cheekbone contouring has worked well for me in the past for the reasons you said (and also having nice cheekbones just always looks nice).

>>8878847
I can't say I haven't thought about it, but it's something I've decided against, since even though I hate it sometimes it is my face, and I've had it for long enough that I don't want to alter it drastically (at least not right now).
>>
>>8879109
>'s actually cheaper to buy sweet bodyline or second hand AP, than buying new or second hand hime brands.
That's not true at all. I get second hand JD for $50 in like new condition. It holds no value at all, you just have to buy from japanese auctions, not the western comm.
>>

And how much extra fees do you pay for shipping and shopping service? I can get AP stuff from Europe within a week for a start price of 35€ incl shipping. I don't have to go through all the hassle with shopping services and stuff. Anybody here been accused of going in blackface before?

I know it's unlikely, but I also feel like it's happened before.
>>
>>8886478
People always confuse ganguro for blackface so I'd say it's rather common. Those same people are usually unwilling to learn though so I wouldn't really concern myself over it if I were you.

Also, generally if you're whole body is tan, and you don't have the whole "black face/white body" thing going on, you should be fine as far as wearing it in a non-convention environment

I just wanna take a moment to say to western gyaru, no matter how long you've been in the fashion, please please please learn to contour your nose properly. You can't just simply use the tutorials for asian noses. The contour is supposed to achieve a specific effect not just look a specific way. That's my one complain with the gaijin community in general. No one seems to get what the contouring is supposed to do or how it should look. Please contour for your nose not asian ones(unless you're asian then obviously that's fine)

Any gals got tanning tips for a pale ass white girl who doesn't want skin cancer from tanning beds?
I need that delicious brown gyaru skin but I'm pasty as fuck and live where there's no sun.
>>
I feel like gyaru would be the fashion I would wear if I had a rocking body
I dont think it would suit me as I wear mostly boy clothes now and have short hair

>>
>>8899936
Could always try spray tanning if you don't want to do tanning beds.

>tfw 50% ginger genetics and tanned for an entire month, got two shades darker, then was pale again a month later
I'm honestly considering a spray tan or those "Apply this lotion every day and slowly get darker!" lotions.

The only fantastic thing about tanning was the fact that I did mine in late winter/early spring so I was toasty warm instead of sweating like a pig. Also, I had a tanning lotion that smelled like Cocoa Puffs and it kept my skin super soft even when I tanned 2-3 times a week trying to use up that 1 Month membership.

I'm sure actual gals could give you better advice but I figured something from another pale ass white girl who tried transitioning to gyaru brown about a year ago (gulls were super helpful with tanning tips for me!) and just gave in when I realized I was getting no where and ruining my skin trying to force something that wasn't going to happen.
>>
>>8899779

>>
Can you still be gyaru even if you're pale as fuck? The discussion of tanning made me doubt myself, I'm unsure of whether or not I want to try tanning, I feel like I'd look really bad with it.
>>
>>8900527
No, I meant that everytime there is a gyaru thread (not EVERY time but I digress) someone casually drops her name. It isn't usually bad from what I remember but I was just curious what was so special that people keep mentioning her. Didn't know if there was some odd drama or valentine thamemade folks keep dropping her name.
>>
>>8900585
Oh I see. This is actually the first gyaru thread ever in which I saw her mentioned. She was once into drama with some people on tumblr thorugh that gossipgyaru blog, but that's about 2years ago. Since then she improved a lot and in the last year she hasn't made up a single drama as far as I know.
>>

Basically she used to be hilariously bad at the makeup (eyebrows literally looked like a picasso painting) but shooped the shit out of her face in an attempt to hide it, then furiously denied editing her pictures and went on massive personal attacks at anyone who suggested such. But yeah, that was a while ago.
>>
>>8900679
Aha! I found the picasso eyebrows picture. IIRC thegossipgyaru went in on her for this and her shoop lies and Feli flipped her shit and threatened to report her to the police for cyberbullying or something.
>>
>>8900679
But as sad, that was in the end of 2013? Or maybe 2014?

I follow her and she got a lot better, she doesn't edit all her selfies, she's just putting some filters and she admits that she edits some a little more.

Not sure who's having a gruge against her these days, I saw the secret about her on gs which got posted recently lol the photo which got used wasn't even related to gyaru and you could clearly see her nose in it.

I own older pieces 2013 and before and the quality of those is perfect and just as high like the quality of some western brands.
