>no colorful fashion thread that isn't sweet lolita
>this needs to be rectified
I'm going to be image dumping alternate j-fash
You're doing God's work, anon. I used to be into fairy kei myself, although it was short lived.
Although I used to have a friend a while back that would tell me that just because someone dresses up in a bunch of pastels doesn't make them fairy kei, and a lot of what you'd find on Google was just "pastel decora". I still wonder if that's true, and what "real" fairy kei is like.
>>8842090
Aww thanks anon. I really want to get into fairy kei or decora but I've been focused on assembling my sweet lolita wardrobe. Both fashions feel so fun to me though!
I'm still not entirely sure what fairy kei is, I often mix up cult fairy kei and regular fairy kei. I think regular fairy is really similar to like a pastel decora, while cult is like flow-y pegnoirs and more nature-y pastel look? I have really no clue though. Fashions outside of lolita have much more lax rules that its hard to determine what falls into what category.
>>8842090
Real fairy kei is lighter somehow, with less clutter. It used to prefer either dyed or natural hair to wigs and use some cute 80's cartoon motifs (popples, care bears etc). Cute tutus were a thing in the beginning as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what it started as and suddenly in came millions of tutus, wigs, sceptres/wands, shittons of jewelry and hairclips and it did start to look more like pastel decora.
Still >>8842111
But let's see anon >>8842110
Pic related is CPK and it doesn't need peignoirs to be it. It usually uses off whites, natural tones and pastels ( dusty pink being the most usual ) with red accents. Another anon can prolly open up where this style started and where the red crosses and accessories came from. Basically the look is somewhat like a super layered antique porcelain doll that just got out of bed. Add doll and stuffed toy motifs, fake fur in right colours, knits, braids, layers in materials and the right makeup and you get close.
>>8842128
I'll call this pic I posted "old school fairy kei" for the sake of trying to show the difference in what people have posted here.
See how much lighter and effortles this is? It's also pretty casual and not as costume-y as what western fairy kei coords tend to be now days.
>>8842131
More.
>>8842133
Moree.
>>8842128
Ah yes thank you ! You did a much better job of explaining it. Thats the type of aesthetic I mean when I say nature-y. More dusty muted colors.
>>8842135
(Borderline pop kei but still)
>>8842110
You mean cult party kei, it has nothing to do with fairy kei.
>>8842137
More, but see how they're less cluttered?
>>8842139
Even this is old school fairy kei.
>>8842138
Ah thanks anon, see I confuse the name even...
Does anyone have any pictures of fairy kei coords that use lolita items? I don't really mean salopettes, I mean lolita skirts/dresses with the lolita silhoutte?
>>8842090
>>8842110
>>8842111
Pic related is original fairy kei. Everything after that is just whatever gets called yumekawaii (ゆめかわいい) these days because everything pastel jfash got lumped together after a while.
>>8842162
this lovely coord is one of my favs
>>8842131
I prefer this, more casual and relaxing. Western fairy kei looks more decora than fairy kei.
>>8842393
some sweet lolita coords can be cute fairy kei coords
>>8842162
PEA liked imitating the lolita silhuotte with their dresses (though obviously shorter)
>>8842513
Most lolita skirts/dresses work for fairy kei are the more casual cuts with less poof
>>8842514

Dear lord thart hair. I know not many of you have seen this personally but azn hair is particularly dense and oily. You have to literally start melting the hair with bleach to get it that blonde. And then add more cheap color on top.... any hair on that head is fried and ruined and that's all I can see on her
thank you gulls so much for this thread and the discussion within!! i'm wanting to get into fairy kei and it's been good being able to see what is/isn't fairy kei. i definitely like the simpler, less decora-ish coords anyways
Pro tip: if you're looking for fairy kei on tumblr, stop while your ahead. You're gonna end up with monstrosities like as shown

Filipino here and off topic, but if you use the right hair repair it can be fine
My ex was always shocked at how soft my hair was for being bleached and dyed
Just going to dump some of the fairy kei/jfashion pics I have in my folder.

I saw this on tumblr and laughed cause she called it 80s pop kei, but she's wearing a lonely hearts club pin.
Neither of the bands using that are from the 80s..
>>8842547
Why her face looks like scared
Also, I think Fairy Kei Tips on Tumblr is usefull, is good to see the rules http://fairy-tips.tumblr.com/faq
>>8842618
She's calling it 80s pop kei because of the 80s vintage jumper she's using, not because of one pin you can hardly see???
>>8842374
But original fairy kei IS looking like a costume with all the cheap halloween wings, magic wands and tutus.
>>8842162
There's currently a circlejerk of british fairy kei girls who are basically the only online presence now. They are pretty tumblr-kei and it's really sad.
>>8842694
you mean the ones somebody posted a group picture of in one of the last threads? if yes I do agree. They're not super bad but most of them looked like they just threw whatever tumblr related gimmick they found together.
anyway contributing more pictures.
also is the comm really that dead now? feels like it's all over the place. I kinda miss the old days and the old idols. now it all looks the same baka
>>8842537
It honestly depends. To get my hair that color, I was impatient and rushed three bleach jobs in the span of one week and basically made my hair super dry. I know better now. The second time I bleached I did it over the span of a month (again, a bit rushed because I did three instead of two), shampooed and conditioned for about a month, and after that dip-dyed.
>>8842694
one of them in particular is the worst and i don't fathom i need to say who kek
>>8842662
If never seen wings in Fairy Kei. Can someone post some?
>>8843122
Unless you count wing details on backpacks, this is pretty much the only picture I can find that's similar. Still not costume-tier cheap halloween wings, but maybe that anon has some pictures.
>>8842632
On her tumblr she posted a close up of it. Also those pins are really popular right now, I see them all over.
"old school" fairy kei rooms
>>8843553
where is she these days?
>>8843592
Wtf is that
>>8842547
Every time she pops up, all I can think of is Gerard Depardieu.
Gonna photo dump, I really hope this thread doesn't die off.
>>8845231
>>8845262
>>8842537
That's a wig.
>>8845508
I'm pretty sure it is not, Moco (girl in the pic) has dyed her hair that light before.
What are some good facebook groups that aren't cringe thread material? I like to discuss the fashion with some down to earth people and not "everyone is special and loving towards one an other. And if you don't agree with our love, than we will bully you out".
>>8846416
Honestly the general Decora/Fairy-kei fb page isn't the worst. It's kind of cringey but not too different than a lot of lolitas pages.
Going to dump

This looks like mori-kei to me. Why is this CPK and not mori? I still try to understand all these styles.
>>8850314
I'd say it's the makeup. CPK's color palette is very similar to larme lacking the black: pale whites, pinks and bright red as a contrast. The makeup here with the harsh pink blush and stark red lipstick is much more CPK than mori's natural light makeup.
>>8851775
Oh, I see. I didn't take the makeup into consideration. Thanks a lot anon.

Bumping
Would also like to know if pop kei is still a thing
>>8854858
Listen Flavor still exists so why shouldn't it?
>>8854858
I'm pretty sure it is, but not much of an internet presence? There are a lot of colorful people in Harajuku, but it's more a color palette than a defined fashion.
>>8859206
Oh dang she's so cute!
Have any of you anons worn/wear those facial stickers/bandage over nose look? What's it like and how do you maintain it throughout your day?
>>8860053
Eyelash glue is your friend. For that and for stickers. Just dab some on either side of the band-aid and the middle if you like.
>>8860053
I have a huge, straight-line nose and it's not cute at all imo...bandages just sort of awkwardly fold over on both sides. I really envy button noses...
