About to start the Yharnam hunter's garb but I'm a bit at a loss for what to use for the jacket. The lighting in the game makes it look like leather but I'm worried about 1) finding a nice leather that has a drape similar to what's seen in the game and/or 2) the leather/faux leather looking really cheap.
I was also thinking of using a suede fabric instead of searching for the perfect leather-like fabric. Thoughts?

Does it annoy anybody else about people cosplaying the Plain Doll using a bright pink scarf? It annoys the shit out of me, especially when they use the right dark-ish, dusty-rose color for the gloves, and then a bright pastel pink scarf.

Looks pretty shiny to me. I suppose to some extent everything in the game has a shine to it. A lot of it may be the result of lighting effects.
And yes, it won what was admittedly a pretty small contest. There were only 60 people competing. I'm not saying it's perfect. Silk is definitely the correct material to use here instead of satin. The use of satin here was the result of inexperience and perhaps overzealous budgeting. If she were ever going to remake this dress, silk would be the natural choice. It would be easier to work with, more durable, and have less shine.
That said, I still don't think the satin looks bad or even wrong. Maybe I haven't spent enough time with other cosplayers, but I haven't developed as strong as a distaste for satin as many people I've seen here.
Had an Endless Night event to go to last night so I picked up this 'snow white and the huntsman' axe for $7 and fixed it up in a couple of hours. I know it's not accurate to the in-game hunter axe, but I didn't have time to make major alterations to it. Could probably still make it accurate by cutting off the hammer, adding a spike to the top, and adding on to the axe blade to make it bigger.
I went as a hunter, but it was mostly closet cosplay. I do really want to be an Old Hunter though, someday.

Speaking of, I'm currently working on one myself. The hat and pants are done, the undershirt needs a collar and sleeve hemming. The jacket is so fucking complicated in that it is jacket and skirt that are connected and move separately. She has 4 layers total. A jacket/skirt, over-shirt, patterned tunic, and undershirt. Also some people don't see that the jacket has a pattern on it, multiple patterns. Also making the entire Cainhurst set including Chikage.

Nevermind, I see it now looking at the equipment image. It's hard to tell in gameplay since all the patterns and seams look like they line up, and there's belts around the waist as well. It seems like a really strange design choice though.

As far as material, his coat looks like it'd be a very smooth-grain soft leather. The lining has a subtle pattern to it as well, would have to look in-game to see it well though.

I've made a basic design using a metal core with worbla around it and magnets inside the larger blade to allow it to transform.
It works with multiple heavy duty magnets but it needs some pulling to get it out again

because of her tallness and apparently tiny head/odd body proportions I wonder if this would be one of those occasions where wearing dun dun dun-inaccurate heels/wedge may actually have a greater benefit for creating a better overall 'feel' of the character.
