I just want to sit her down and tell her that her worth to herself is the most important. She's focusing so much on "other people" being rude instead of on herself being happy. Any person who was happy with themself wouldn't feel the need to curse anyone's mitochondria just for snickering at them. And they wouldn't feel the need to mention how great their outfit was and then say their outfit wasn't that great. We all face these things, we've just learned to deal with it.
It's good that she's not tailoring her style to be approved by others, but she's still letting them get to her in a different way. The best way to feel more comfortable in jfash is just to fake it until you make it. I also remember waiting for my friends at the mall with my knees shaking amd palms sweating, but these days I wear whatever I want with my head high (as long as it isn't a nuisance to other people). It's just about knowing that despite whatever other people are saying about you, you know who you are and you're proud of yourself and your style.
