I would love to see a cosplay of either of them, but it seems like people are only cosplaying from Inquisition right now. Even people who have played Origins or 2 may not have played Awakening. I cosplayed Velanna at the last con I went to and everyone thought I was a Lavellan OC.

Its EL wire, specifically angel hair wire, or 1.3mm wire more technically. Its the thinnest wire (to my knowledge) that you can buy. I bought it in a sort of ready made kit from a distributor called EL Wirecraft. (I highly recommend them. The price was very reasonable and they were very kind.)
As far as assembling the bow with the wire, I used a dremel to carve in the pattern that I wanted and then hot glued the wire into place. The whole set of wire is actually two 1 m long sections, one for each side and they're connected in the middle by a splitter that leads to the battery pack. On the grip of the bow is the battery back and other assorted wires, which is why its covered by the pleather.

She did not darken her skin. That IS her skin tone. Having seen this cosplay in person I can attest to the fact that she's not wearing much make up besides some eyeshadow, a tiny bit of mascara and some contouring (which she doesn't even need much of anyway to be honest).
By all means point out blackface/brownface when you're sure it's going on but don't leap on someone because you THINK you saw something on tumblr. Lorethia is an actual sweetie so fuck off.

Sorry to ask this, but what skin tone do you gulls think Velanna is? She reads as a little tan to me, but judging by fandom stuff, people seem to be about 50/50 on whether she's pretty dark or actually fairly light, so I was wondering if anyone here has any input on the matter.
I'm asking because I'm super pale and want to know if I should bother with trying to tan to be "accurate" when I cosplay her or if I'm just reading her skin wrong (due to shading in the game or her light hair throwing me off or something, idk). Thanks.

hey anon, just an idea since you said you wanted to make the whole design glow! Do you think that making the bow itself with something like resin with a El tape inside could work? I'm wondering this because I have a similar project, I'm guessing you could paint the dark layer over the resin

acrylic instead of resin would probably work. Acrylic carries light pretty well so I'm sure you could place EL wire along the edge and see how that works. El tape is kind of cumbersome and requires a bigger inverter which is pretty hard to hide in a thin prop.

If the bow was a bit larger and wider I probably could have done the whole design, but as it is it was just too much to carve. I would have worried about the bow breaking or the carvings running into eachother at that point.
I'm not sure about making the whole thing out of resin, but only because ive never worked with it before. As the other anon said, the more el wire/tape you add the more inverters you need, so it might not be ideal unless you could find somewhere else to hide them on the bow (like hollowing out the grip and placing them there.)
