Someone's tried to do an 'Egyptian' coord using Moitie's Silent Moon. It looked more fantasy than ancient Egyptian. I think either a painting print with a depiction of a water colour scene showing the early explorers (such as Napoleon's forces) who laid the foundations of Egyptolgy, or an almost art-nouveau style one with hieroglyphics on it, perhaps with a bust or two in silhouette of various Egyptian gods or goddesses around the border, with the cartouches of their names above them.. Both of course would be mainly classic-styled, with the latter one also probably working for gothic style, especially in darker coourways. Jewellery that would work nicely would be simple pendants, menat collar necklaces, and the like, or cuff bracelets. The cuts for the jsks would be a-line, with straight, square-cut necklines, or underbust , with the jsks and skirts having the option for a waistcoat, to give that 'explorer' look, much like the recent librarian-ish AatP set. High-necked blouses, one in chiffon, with lots of pleating details. A wide-brimmed Summer hat with yards of chiffon wrapped around it and tied in a bow at the back would complete the look.

The hilarity is just how much arguement there is over this. It's a simple case - look at the skintones of Northern African people, including modern Egyptians, and look at the wall art. The ancient Egyptians had a skintone range going from about Meditterrean-olive-tone darkness (but with a different base tone) through to darker, but not super-dark. The archaeology is there. Simple. This is beautiful but honestly sometimes I wish there was a separate comm for photoshoots and daily outfit pics. CoF says it's for "daily lolita" but obviously this wasn't taken on any regular old day, it was carefully staged and she most likely got dressed up especially for this shoot. Sometimes I really just want to see daily pics that were actually worn out, not put together for a photoshoot and dismantled as soon as the camera was put away. I completely agree and I wish there was more daily and casual lolita posted but the issue always comes back to the fact that most are afraid to be ripped apart for their daily outfits and would rather post only their finest (minus itas). I love to wear lolita multiple times a week and so do many if my friends but we never post because most of the outfits don't get coorded months ahead. Idk if this has been discussed before, but why don't we make a facebook group for DAILY lolita and make a rule that it's not allowed to repost the coords here? When people were still active on livejournal it wasn't allowed to post daily lolita coords in the secrets comm and I think that really helped. I really miss seeing all the wearable coords.
