They've also got a 3D Printing Pen for $99.99

Anyone know of any possible airbrush/compressor deals happening for Black Friday or the holidays? Hoping to get one before December.

I want this but I'm sure I have a stack in my room already...
>>
>>8716896
I work at michaels. The canvases often go on sale for 3 for 1, the mason jars always go on sale for $1, the hot buy paper pads go on sale for $5 regularly. 50% off crayola happens on and off around christmas,

Out of those things I would say there's no real rush to stock up on it, except for the canvases if you really need them right away.

The timed coupons are interesting. If you want more of a discount off of the things listed in the add, use the %off all. Michaels likes to make very specific things on sale lately so you wont be able to take that much advantage over anything else in the store.

Seeing as they are timed, they definitely wont let you use earlier coupons later in the day. Unless you happen to be waiting in line during the noon switch. If you think you're cutting it close, find a manager or an associate and ask them if they can mark your coupon for when you are in line. They might be able to
>>
>>8717038
OH and seeing those online promo codes, Michaels recently started selling fabric online like Jo-annes. So use those coupon codes to get some fabric from the site.

You CAN return the fabric to stores (we recently got a memo about how to do it) so if you're not feeling it you can return it to any michaels with your receipt
>>

>>

Pretty much. I feel bad for anyone working Thanksgiving/Black Friday which is why I'm trying to do all my shopping online. By that I mean being up at 3:01am on Thanksgiving to get a phone off Walmart online.
>>
>>8716430
I work at Michaels, and we never put airbrushes/supplies on sale but you can use one of the 50% off one item coupons that come out fairly often on both brushes and compressors.

>>
>>8724902
Does your store still do the full time support specialist thing? Ours doesn't, sadly, but I got a pretty solid pay raise just to count money and file paperwork instead of manual labor 4 days a week.
>>
>>8724912
no the work is split up between me and one other person. i used to be on replen, and had about the same hours (16-20) every week. Now i get to work not nearly as hard, and i get paid more than I did before. It's the best
>>
I'm hoping to nab a sewing machine next week; I'm going to Walmart physically but I'm also open to buying online, any suggestions on places with solid deals for quality machines?
>>
>>8725092

Walmart machines are crap. Companies (singer brother etc) specifically make 'walmart' lines of their machines so they can sell at those low low prices and it'll fall apart on you. Amazon usually has good black friday / cyber monday sales and has at least a couple basic machines in there.
>>
>>8716908
Where did you get the ad? I want some of those coupons.
>>
>>8725542
Yikes, didn't know that, thanks for telling me! I'll check Amazon, then.
>>
>>8720241
i can't believe people shop on Thanksgiving, knowing it screws over the employees. fucking consumer culture.
>>
Anyone have good recommendations for embroidery machines? Especially ones that are nicely priced/might be on sale
>>
>>8725587
I don't mind working on thanksgiving. I get paid time and a half and I don't celebrate it anyways.
>>
>>8725561
they look like leaked black friday ads so I don't think you can actually get them yet
>>
>>8725603
time and a half for working a shitty retail job is just an extra $30.
>>
>>8725561
Just download the app onto your smartphone, I'd imagine they will be up in the coupon section when the sales are happening. If not they usually come in your local sunday paper this coming sunday. If all else fails just go to the websites of the stores you like and sign up for their emails and get coupons that way.

>>8725587
Thanksgiving isn't a bad holiday to work on, especially if you don't care to celebrate it. In my family we celebrate thanksgiving early anyway.
>>
>>8725609
No shit? Do you think people who work retail dont realize that the pay is pretty shitty and the hours are garbage? If you don't give a shit about the holiday why wouldn't you want an extra $30?
>>
>>8725609
For my shitty retail job it's more like working for 90 extra dollars.
>>
>>8725627
you make 22 dollars an hour in retail? or do you just get super long shifts?
>>
>>8720241
That is so sad. Black Friday has officially boiled over into some kind of monstrous 24+ hour free-for-all.

>>8725587
I've worked every Thanksgiving for the past 10 years and while it's nice when people tell you "Oh it's a shame you have to work the holiday," at the same time you want to smack them. I wouldn't have to work if customers weren't out shopping on a holiday.

And I can understand people not celebrating a holiday, but what's wrong with just chilling out for a day? Do you really need to go buy craft supplies on a holiday? Stay home in your pajamas and relax.

Anyway, I think I'll go look up basic sewing machines on Amazon.
>>
>>8725609
It's actually a little over $50 for me. And it's not that much, but it is going to be $50 more than I normally have on my paycheck.
>>
Anyone know of a good deal for a Brother CS6000i? Or am I better off trying to get another entry level sewing machine?
>>
>>8720241
That's really strange that they chose those hours. I used to work at Michael's and hardly anyone came on Thanksgiving to my store.
>>
>>8725634
I make 10 an hour since I'm part time I get time which is 6 hrs and a half 3 hrs for commission we get on top of that.
>>
>>8725696
Based on everything I've heard the CS6000i is the best cheap machine you can get. I think it's probably worth paying a bit more to get it rather than a different entry level machine. A lot of them are a complete waste of money and will lead to a lot of frustration, especially if you're a beginner.
>>
>>8724902

JoAnn Black Friday sales start on Tuesday. 75% off anti-pill/blizzard fleece and 75% off cozy solid/snuggle flannel are the headliner Doorbusters, year after year. Store opens at 6am for Tues/Wed/Fri and various sales go through Sunday at max, I believe.

This is going to suck. I have to be at the store by 4am.

Haven't heard anything from Bodyline, or any other of the major brands. Arda has got their sale this week and I am not sure if I should go for it, or wait until "cyber monday". Of course if they don't do a sale then, then that kinda sucks, but I don't really need a wig from them right now anyway.

This may be my first back friday at a joann's but I don't know if I want to put up with how many people are going to be in the goddamn way in the fabric area. Also I'd feel like a prick making someone cut me fabric under the worst conditions possible. Hmm.
>>
>>8736585
Retail workers are always the ones to say "stay the fuck home". Working in retail gives you a completely different perspective as a shopper. No I'm not going to drive to the store and wait outside on any given day (this happens so much. especially on tuesdays for some reason, we have like 10 people waiting outside our door at 8:45 for no reason).

I'd avoid black friday all together unless I was shopping for a doorbuster (why are you here ONLY buying things we carry every freaking day and has been on sale the last two weeks?)

For some people, black friday is fun. They want to go there in the afternoon after eating. They want to hunt for deals, maybe even shove a couple people while grabbing the last of whatever item. Maybe they work hard and thanksgiving is the only actual day they have off and have time to shop?

I dunno. I dont find being open on thanksgiving to be horrible. I've worked it before and time flies by when it's busy. And since I work at Michaels, it gets REALLY FUCKING BORING when it slows down. That's the only shitty part. Then again if it's really slow they just let us go to the breakroom in shifts and eat food for like an hour anyway. Pay me time and a half for that? Sign me up

CAPS ARE CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL OMG

Different strokes for different folks, dumbass. Cosplayers who are still beginner tier or don't have a budget to drop on a 3/4ths size $1,000 machine will do perfectly well on a good Brother or Janome. Two hundred bucks for a machine that will last you a good 3-5 years is worth it until you get serious about sewing. I own four different brands of machines and yeah the Bernina is great and will probably never break but it's not a reasonable option for most people.

That being said, don't buy those awful tiny $50 machines. You're better off saving for the next step up.

This year, the news is reporting more people are going for black Friday and it's mostly for the experience. some retailers are also offering the same deals as last year so you're getting a year old product without the additional markdown for being older.

I wouldn't mind stores being open on Thanksgiving Day if workers actually had a choice. Like, if you want to work and get time and a half, great. At some places, if you don't work holidays, you're written up and/or fired.
At the job I worked at, they didn't care if it was super slow and only 1 customer came in an hour, you better make work for yourself or look busy somehow. Letting us go in the break room for any reason other than unpaid lunches/legally required breaks was unheard of It's not the norm, at least not for any of the retail jobs I've worked.
>>
>>8737505
The place I work at has the exact same items on sale each year. They even throw in some regular sale prices into the black friday ad to try tricking customers into thinking they're getting a better deal.

>>8736588
I used that and got $10 from it, so with some other discounts I had saved I was able to get $20 off a gift for someone I'm doing secret santa with. Do you have multiple accounts to get more than one go at it?
>>
>>8737632
nevermind, I'm an idiot and didn't read the extra game info.
>>
Aerie has a 10 panties for $32 sale right now, go get everything in the vintage lace (most comfortable thongs your butt will ever feel)
>>
>>8737624
This. My work requires us to work certain holidays - they're nice enough to let us pick and choose, but I've worked other places where you had to work every holiday. That job was the one where I had to get up from the Thanksgiving dinner table at 5pm to get ready for a 6pm-11pm shift. If you missed a Holiday shift you could be fired on the spot.

I don't even see the point of Black Friday except to dupe people for the most part. There are some good deals, but from what I hear, a lot of the electronics and products are specially-made for Black Friday/cheap and unreliable. So you get what you pay for, and you're better off just looking for good deals any other time of the year. I always ask people what they actually buy on Black Friday and I've never heard them say anything particularly amazing.
>>
>>8737809
OMG anon I just got some panties from aerie and the 10 pairs were 81$ originally. They had some really cute designs too I got these glittery star cheekies and they're so cute

>mossbadger does Black Friday sale

oh, awesome!

>literally nothing in the promotional image is for sale in the shop
>only 6 things in the shop

welp.

I wonder if Mossbadger will sell lucky packs again this year? Doesn't seem like it with all the ouija orders they have to make.
>>
>>8737875
Yeah I wish her stuff wasn't so hard to get. I was hoping for a real update, not just a discount on leftovers.
>>
>>8737878
Same here! I mean, 30% is a great discount but it's kind of pointless when there's 6 things to choose from, some of which are leftovers for a reason. Like the Marie Antoinette necklace with resin that's spilled over on the frame, but for some reason isn't discounted like the coffin necklace with resin bubbles.

It's frustrating because I love 99% of what she makes, but it seems like she only makes big, varied batches with multiples for cons... then sticks up single bits and pieces online that sell out fast. The only exception recently was the limited custom orders for Ouija stuff.
>>
>tfw coupon throughout the year
>recognize good sales from not worth your breath prices
>used to love going Black Friday shopping
>now realize there are better prices throughout the year
>only going out to CVS for their deals

The holiday has changed and while it's nice I get to do most of the shopping online, it used to be tradition that my family shopped together then got lunch. I'm not even that excited for Jo-Ann's deals because I always get 60% off coupons from them and with their Black Friday promos I'd save maybe $2 extra.
>>
>>8737998
this is true to a degree, there are still some really good deals during black friday though. it's basically my job to know/help plan these things- i know 90% of it is shit, but lots of places offer their best discount this time of the year. a shitload of tool deals are great this year (diy people would appreciate)
>>
>>8738010
Oh definitely, I agree there are still good deals out there but the places I normally shop at have deals offered throughout the year that are just as good as what's being offered this weekend. I'd imagine stores that don't normally have sales throughout the year are holding pretty good deals right now.
>>
>>8737624
>I wouldn't mind stores being open on Thanksgiving Day if workers actually had a choice.

This. If you aren't a doctor, electrician, police officer, gas station attendant, ect your job is NOT needed that day.
Corporate America has puffed itself up to think that they need to make money every friken day of the year. Is the company president, the board of directors, or shareholders on the job Thanksgiving Day? No? Then their workers shouldn't be either.
Plus closing up shop for 24 hours isn't going to bankrupt the CEO and it will garner loyalty and better work from the workers.

>>8737836
>I always ask people what they actually buy on Black Friday and I've never heard them say anything particularly amazing.

Me either. All my amazing price stories are random happenstance during the year and they are so wtf priced that it beats out Black Friday by a mile.
>>

I dunno, seems like it would be pretty impossible for them to take professional photos, upload them and put them on the website in that short a time without prior notice. Unless they weren't going to be sold as lucky packs, just themed sets, and mossbadger's shop-owner read this thread and rebranded them. That seems more likely since they're specific items, not lucky packs like she did last year where you genuinely got random things rather than specific rosette, specific ring, specific necklace. still nice to see some more rosettes, at least!

>>8738133
It was marked sold a few hours before your comment was posted, maybe your browser hadn't updated? In any case I think they were talking about this, at the top of the frame you can see the resin is unevenly high there.

Joanns sales were pretty lack luster. Christmas fabric was the only really good deal, and flannel. Don't get me wrong I'm for sure making some tacky Christmas jsks but the quilting cotton and kona cottons weren't very good deals.

General Black Friday experiences, anyone?

>grandmother wants $0.01 Galaxy S6 phone promotion
>get to store at 7:45am for ticket
>wait a hour after store opens at 8am
>"We're sorry, you can't upgrade your phone until September 2016."
>mfw she thought she was eligible for upgrade every year instead of two years
>mfw I'm glad I'm on a Straight Talk prepaid plan and got my Galaxy Grand Prime online at 3am yesterday

After that I went to Bath & Body Works to get bath gifts for family and sanitizer gifts for convention friends

>Black Friday 'Buy 3 Get 3 Free' sale
>entire store packed
>flock of half a dozen 50+ year old ladies surrounding the new 'Kitchen Lemon' scent soaps
>one lady has at least ten of them in her bag
>VIP totes as far as the eye can see
>woman using winter themed room spray tester stinks up half the store
>cue coughing fits and people covering their noses/mouths while shop girls try to joke it off as "Don't you just love our new holiday scent?"
>queues for the register despite three registers being open

Only good thing about the experience was I had a 'Have $10 Order, Get 1 Free Item' coupon and a 'Get $10 Off $30 Order' coupon.

So I ended up getting seven items worth $68 for $22 without tax. I'll take godawful tree scents for an hour any day if I save $46 on Christmas gifts.

The only place I went to as a local antique and craft store, which had some great discounts. 40%-70% off almost all booths. Furniture booths and the booths with expensive crystal/glass items were only 10% off.
>>

Link? I searched the whole lolita collective shop and couldn't find it>>8
>>
>Body Shop is 3 for $36 on regular priced items
>Last year everything was half off with free shipping and I bought a Mega size shower gel that lasted eight months
Reeeeeeeeeee
>>
>>8738281
That first sale part sounds fantastic. Wish we had a place like that here.
>>
>>8738281
oh forgot the experience part

>opened at 7 AM
>get there, only person who showed up at opening
>nobody else showed up until 9 AM
>got first pick on everything since they just have people do a restock last night

Felt so good. I picked up some vintage Barbie clothes from the 60s and 70s, some 80s Barbie merch, a bunch of decorative miniatures from the 20s and 30s, a Princess Leia doll, vintage photo album with photos inside, some cabinet cards from photographers in my state, a stack of vintage advertisements, and some hand-made brooches. Total cost before discounts was $180 something, after discount was $85 + tax.

aw I'm sorry you don't! I'm really lucky, there's a number of antique malls still operating near me, although this is the only one that has consistent sales and good prices
>>
>>8737809
Also caved and bought the sale. My underwear/sock drawer is already stuffed (mostly because of socks), but I've come close to running out a few times.
>>
>>8738186
So are those the items people will get in the mossbadger lucky packs, though? It doesn't say that the picture is only a sample and not what you'll receive, so I hope that's the case.
>>
>>8737809
FYI for Canadians, the Canadian deal doesn't work out to 10 for $32 before taxes, and duties are tacked on too, so after duties/taxes it's $56.96.

...I bought them anyway. All the star-printed ones look like magical girl panties and I love the look of them. Damnit anon.

I also went for the Sephora Black Friday deals. They aren't phenomenal (small gift sets; I bought four as Christmas gifts for friends) but I just did the VIB 20% off sale last weekend anyway.

Yes, and I don't like it this style. The surprise is part of the appeal.
>>
>>8738210
I'm waffling on the jumper suit right now. On one hand I feel like where would I ever wear it but it's so cute
>>
>>8738426
Oh, I hoped it was the case because i bought one specifically for what was in the photo. Though I agree, "lucky packs" to me should be random/surprise instead of "this is exactly what you're getting." Special sets would probably be a better term for these!

Granted last year she did say what types of items were in the lucky packs (she had two IIRC, one with a rosette/necklace/ring and one with a necklace/ring/brooch) but the actual pieces were a surprise.

Ah poor grandma. Good job on your Bath and Body Works score though! I went last year and it was pretty packed. My sister and I were able to stack coupons as long as we met the purchase requirements and saved over $100. I didn't go this year because I only go there when I have a "free travel sized product" coupon or when their hand soaps go on sale.

As for me, I shopped Ulta's Pre-Black Friday online sale and got a lot of Bare Minerals make up for about $50 shipped. I also got a bag full of deluxe samples I can't wait to try out! I ordered an undereye concealer and was accidentally sent a face primer instead but I think I'll keep it since I like the primer and it's worth a couple dollars more than the concealer.
>>
>>8738285
They still have their Black Friday tote for $35 when you spend $36. Apparently there's a lot of good stuff in it.
>>
>>8738554
>bag of deluxe samples
Now that's my kind of thing.
>>
>>8738581
They're all good brands too!I got a sample of Benefit's The Porefessional and blotting sheets, It's a 10 spray, lots of perfume samples, and lots of skin care samples. The bag it came in is really cute and roomy. I prefer buying deluxe sample sets because they're a better value (to me) and I get to try high quality makeup at reduced prices.

Is Uniqso not working for anyone else? I'm trying to get in on their contacts sale, but all I get is error messages when navigating their site.
>>
>>8738737
It's working for me.
>>
Forever 21 has free shipping with no minimum purchase. Also 10MSXDP will save you an additional 10% on certain items.

I hit joanns today. Picked up some fleece and patterns. All the simplicity patterns were $1. So I grabbed the Sailor moon pattern and some other patterns.
>>
>>8738877
Thanks anon! Been looking for an excuse to finally order all the shit that's in my cart
>>
>>8738899
Sure thing! I've been needing some basic skater skirts and found some for about $5. The code doesn't apply to them but still a good deal!
>>
>>8738112
Candylens is 60% off each second pair, Uniqso is 60% off everything (you have to use a second coupon to stack the discount, otherwise it's just 50%)

I had a pencil skirt in my cart for about $13 and browsed the sales a little bit and found one for $7! And the code applied to everything i had in my cart save for that. You're the best
>>
Anyone not able to check out at forever 21? It's driving me crazy. I try to scroll down to finalize the payment but I can't
>>
>>8739050
Did you ever get your order in, anon?
>>
>>8738877
>tfw I already bought what I wanted during their Veterans Day sale

Did their "Buy One, Get One Free" sale and got two sweaters.

Two lazy to take photos but one is a red and black gradient and the other is all black and says BOY across it. Might've gotten too excited over the second one because I'm a fag like that.
>>
>>8739498
Nope. I gave up and just did aerie and urban outfitters instead
>>
>>8739050
There's another checkbox you have to click first. It confused me, too.
>>
Anyone else not know that Joann cashiers were supposed to be handing out $5 off $5 cards yesterday and today? If the person with me didn't ask what those cards were, I'd miss out on it.
>>
>>8740451
What?! Where was that advertised? I looked at the sales add so many times. I can't be too mad since I saved over $100 but...
>>
>>8740551

It wasn't advertised. Total surprise to me too. but the cards say they're suppose to be distributed those days
>>
>>8740451
If it's like michaels, this year we only got 21 of those cards and handed them to the first people through the door.

I hit up the Joanns at 6PM on Saturday cause I couldn't be assed to deal with annoying crowds.

It was busier than normal but not bad at all. I only stood in line for cutting maybe 4 minutes and it looked like they had all hands on deck like they should.

I went because I really have wanted some onesie PJs for a while now and thought I would try my hand at making some. Fleece was 75% off so now is a good time to give it a go.

I also saw a silky fabric (pic related) I had been eyeing for a year. It was almost gone and 60% off so I picked that up too and a couple of zippers for the onesies.

Before sale: 120.97
After sale and a 40 and 50% off coupon on the zippers: 39.37

Saved 81.60

Bonus: 24 hours later and the silky fabric is now a circle skirt.

>>8741830
Damn that's a good overall save, anon!

Working on the first onesie now.

If this keeps me warm like I think it will I'm living in these all winter.
