Oh fuck it, I'll try and give this thread legs seeing as I always end up posting in these any way. The costume is from a couple of years back but I only just had good photos of it taken.
>>
>>8703825
How did you do the bands? This is one of the best Hisoka cosplays I've ever seen.
>>
>>8703825
It looks like the arm bands on top are too tight and stopped a lot of blood flow from your arms. I'm sure the editing made it more visible but now they look all purple and dying.
>>
>>8703862
They look like they are tubes made out of fabric and stuffed inside.
>>
>>8703866
They did have to be cut off me after the shoot, the costume was made before I had any idea what working out was and although I am still weak, I am bigger than when I first made the cosplay.

I like it, but I think you should have more poof. You seem quite top heavy, so having more poof would kind of balance it out and be more flattering. Also, is that a skeleton hand hairpin? Because no, that does not fit into the coord at all. The outfit looks classic, you should maybe try a pearl hairpin or something instead. It's decent otherwise, I like your makeup.

Very cute, but your foundation looks way too dark for you. Find a lighter match with your neck.
>>
>>8704213
Yeah, I rarely ever wear foundation, usually when I do it's not so obvious as I never have my chest out, but I buy the palest shade I can get at the moment as it is. I need to find a brand that does lighter colours, I don't like buying makeup online though :/

As a sister in pallor, I highly recommend Urban Decay's Naked foundation in 0.5.

I'd like some real concrit on this Halloween coord. Closet of Frills was lovely to me but I do like getting non-asspats.
>>
>>8704515
This.. does not look good.
Your bangs are too thin, and your headdress really emphasises that. Your jewelry and belt all seem awfully cluttered, as well as the black on black for your blouse and wristcuffs.
>>
>>8704196
Yeah I need a petti for it, the one I have is too long and only fits under other dresses.
The skeleton hairclips were from halloween whoops.

This is my first coord, was meant for Halloween but happened late due to mail problems. I know that my blues in my dress and hat are slightly off, i had to make the hat long before i got thr dress in. Should i remake it in white maybe to not have to worry about matching? And I'm currently shopping for better OTKs /legwear as well as a bag and more jewelry. But would like to know if I'm on the right track.

Yeah I need a trim. The "belt" is the waistband of the skirt so there isn't much I can do about that. I'll probably leave out the time turner next time and make some matching beaded jewelry for the wrists to balance out the colors. Do you think I should change shoes too? I could relace the boots with a color from the skirt or I could change to mary jane heels and put matching shoe clips on. I also feel like the area in front of the veil is a little plain, like it needs a pretty bejeweled headband. I like the hoop earrings for the theme, but if it isn't Halloween I'll probably wear studs with this instead. Thanks for the honesty! I really do appreciate it.

I'd invest in some clip in bangs or a full wig, no ones hair always looks perfect. Maybe try to add some detail to the actual veil attachment band like pic related.
My personal rule for pulling an outfit together is to not having two colors on each other (ie: purple skirt, black tights, so purple shoes makes it not all blend together) and accessories should be in the detail of the print. I can't see it very well but it looks like there's gold and white, which you pulled gold in with your jewelry, maybe change the shoes and wrist cuffs to match that?
>>
>>8704728
Wow i love the tights here, super cute. The only thing I can think to change is maybe to like a light brown shoe instead of gold? But even then it looks like the gold is really complementary to the light brown. Overall you are adorable and I really love this coord.
>>
>>8704728
This is really cute, anon. I think maybe a few more hits of gold would help balance it out, maybe something in addition to your headbow.
>>
>>8704741
Yes this must have been what my eyes are picking up. The gold accents are adorable and maybe just one more obvious one would really tie the shoes in.

So this wasn't a huge undertaking because it was just last minute for Halloween..but my boyfriend and I made these.
Eva foam masks and arm guards. These are movie version Sub Zero and Scorpion.
>>
>>8704651
I think so. Im kind of iffy on the lace placement on the dress but that could be mostly personal taste. White with blue accents for the hat would be really cute. And like you said more extravagant leg wear since the dress is so plain. Maybe white tights that are sheer with some type of cute opaque design that matches the theme you're going with. I'd lose the wrist cuffs and throw in some cute silver accessories all throughout the coord for some oomf, maybe a silver star bag, as well as silver or blue shoes instead of black since it looks so stark against the dress and legwear. Also if you're going with your real hair adding some type of accessory at the bottom of your braids over the tie would look nice too. You're super cute and obviously on the right track, that's just what I personally would do.
>>
>>8704752
Awesome advice. I agree about the lace placement in the dress, I love it off me but on me it looks a little funny. I'm ordering silver bracelets and a silver Star bag already so glad you agree! And yeah the shoes are a dark blue, I'm on the look out for something better but the dress is such a hard shade to match and jm kind of iffy about all the silver shoes I've seen. I love the idea for braids too.
>>
>>8704755
Yah i think if you placed things right with accessories and your blouse it's most definitely workable, I hate when that happens! Well I see you didn't even need my advice then haha! That's true, silver shoes can be so hit or miss. Maybe white shoes with some type of handmade blue accessory? Like a blue bow or star slip that would match the color of the dress to balance the bottom? I think there are a couple tutorials of girls that have made shoe clips to bring another color into their coord when matching the shoes proves to be too difficult
>>
>>8704736
Gold shoes sounds like a great idea. I'll probably make a matching headband and maybe make some black feather wrist cuffs with some navy/purple jewel details since there's a raven on the print.

This is the second time i do her cosplay, mostly because the first time it turned out awful, I had chosen bad fabrics for the dungaress, and the result was a complete mess, this time I think the cosplay turned out more clean and similar to the original design. I also think the outfit needs more silver but it is so cute and I adore the OTK look, but if you could find something more detailed I think that would be better.

Do you like old school coords or is the black shoe and OTK socks just a coincidence because it's a super old school look. Cause if you're not looking for the older school look I'd also recommend blue shoes.

I personally adore old school so this isn't a criticism just a thought. Keep the black shoes if that's what you're going for.

I do like old school cords and I've been thinking about doing a new coord with this dress more specifically old school styled..this one wasn't supposed to be though! The shoes are actually a dark blue. If you have an recs of shoes that are a brighter/lighter/paler? blue without being sax that would be great because I'm really stumped on where to find them.

Thanks for the advice!

Awesome. I actually saved all of your progress pictures for some reason. I've done some metalwork in the past, but not as part of an armor project (not counting the 30 Ga sheet steel on this for obvious reasons). It was mostly fabrication with thicker metal (aluminum and some steel).

I plan to do a Giantdad and an Oscar before I'm done cosplaying from Dark Souls. (And the lady in the picture wants to at least do Big Hat Logan) I'm not too quick with these, so it should take a sufficiently long time to get some more practice in.

I just bought a new house, and I haven't finished setting up my workshop yet. As someone more experienced in this kind of metalwork than me, do you have any tips for outfitting my work space?
>>
>>8704674
Omg I love that you did this version of Sophie you need to give me your fan page
>>
>>8708019
>do you have any tips for outfitting my work space?

The big tools I use are a pedestal grinder for cleaning up armor edges and shaping hammers / chisels, a drill press of making rivet holes, and a CNC plasma cutter for cutting out plates (but some combination of jigsaw / beverly shear / corner notcher / files / bandsaw / jump shear will also work).

Other than that, everything else is armorsmithing hammers and forms. You can make your own hammers by grinding down store bought ones to shape. Most of the forms are converted from other things like trailer ball hitches, masonry chisels, and random chunks of metal.

I cold worked the armor so there is no forge. Unfortunately, the helmet cannot be made from a single sheet of metal through cold working so a welder was used to join two halves.

I'm actually set for most of those tools. You must be or work for a professional to have access to a CNC plasma cutter. I don't know any hobbyists with equipment that expensive lying around. I'm thinking of doing most (all?) of the cutting with an angle grinder except for inside corners and details. How did you do those? Drill press and jigsaw?

I realize that I'll come up with the shapes that I'll need or want while working the metal, but when it's not an inconvenience, could you post pictures of the the hammers/forms you fabricated?

Finally figured out how to properly reply to a post.

I've run out of good pictures of that costume, so I'm moving on to pictures of my Master Chief Spartan 117, Halo: Combat Evolved

This is exactly what I wanted to see, thanks. I can fab most of these pretty easily. I have a few more specific process related questions, but I don't really want to be hijacking this thread to talking about it. Is the email address on that website yours? If so, I'd prefer to move the conversation there if you don't mind. As always, thanks for your help.

with legwear, this could look great as-is. but if you add a hat, some jewelry, and a kickass bag, you are going to look perfect.

what color are your glasses? if you cannot find a gold pair as suggested in i think /ouG/ you could try to work the color of your frames into the coord with a corsage, feather/ribbon, etc.

I haven't modified anything: it won a best-of-weekend award, so I figured it was pretty okay. Eventually I want to embellish the discharged designs on the shoulder with embroidery.

>>8715669
Not a fan of the hat, it's too femme to mesh with the other clothing items. Like you could do a birdcage veil on a more masculine style like a tophat, or no veil on (what seems to be) a woman's hat, but it's too much together.
Can you sew at all? I think your jacket could use some extra interfacing in the lapels, something soft like a layer of felt or canvas. Also maybe switch out the buttons? It looks like you go for silver jewelry, so silver or black buttons would look better than brass.

Trying newer things to work as bandages for the face. The stuff I use for my arms and legs doesn't work nearly as well for the facemask.

I've seen you post this like atleast 3 times now. Please stop, it really isn't a good cosplay
I usually don't have a problem with people cosplaying outside of their body type, but it just looks so ugly since singed is so skinny and you're short and chubby. The shorts look super cheap, and the wig looks like crap.
Also, the bandages look really bad. Maybe instead of doing real bandages you could just do a zentai suit and make it look like bandages my painting it, because now you can barely tell that it's actually bandages and it just looks sloppy

Oh my goodness, I'm planning to do a Medicine Seller cosplay for Katsucon.

The kimono part looks really good. Did you sew it yourself? and if so how did you do the decorations on the sleeves?
>>
>>8708815

Your prop is amazing but your costume just needs some...small fixes. I can't think of the right word for what I'm trying to describe, but you need to go through and do things like clean up loose threads, and remember to press seams. I think your bodice/boob area would look a lot crisper if you had done that when making the stripes.
This is an awesome improvement though, you make a stunning Red. Your makeup is just beautiful.
