Anyone else confused about where this will be on the Nier timeline? It looks like it would've been pretty close to the end of the White Chlorination War, but if Emil is making an appearance like they teased (in his no. 7 form??) then it may be YEARS after Nier? Of course, he could be appearing /before/ that in his child form. Sorry for nerd sperging.

If it's anything like the last few games on the timeline, it'll not make any sense to speculate until release, especially due to the rampant amount of side material.

This is very likely post-Nier.
In some of the novellas in Grimoire Nier, it is revealed that Emil, given his immortality, is still fucking around and eventually fights off some alien lifeforms. Humans having fled to the moon is also canon to that YorHA stage play or whatever. Nier killing the Shadowlord didn't doom humanity across the world, only in that region.
As for where it falls in the grand scheme of these clusterfuck of other game's timelines, who knows. Maybe Accord will have a cameo to straighten some shit out for the player.
