If you aren't so steady with your hand, it might be easier to cut really thin foam and glue it on. That way if you screw up it won't mess up your helmet.

>>8689505
The details good but you need to get some watered down black acrylic or ink into the crevasses to make it pop out more.

Finally got the shoulder armor working the way I wanted for Wing Zero. Its basically a strap that locks into the top of the shoulder armor and runs though the two hinged sections and locks into the inside of the 3rd flange. A metal pin through the strap keeps the middle flange in place.

This setup lets everything move naturally and dissemble for storage and transport.

Id like to get working on fiberglassing the inside of the torso this weekend so I can move on to the backpack and wings.
>>
>>8690696
I thought I'd draw them out on paper, go over them in hot glue then stick em onto the foam so if I mess up it's not directly on the pieces
>>
>>8690811

Hot glue comes off easily with rubbing alcohol so if you mess up it's not the end of the world.

I tried anon i really did but I ended up messing it due to the complexity of the design, so I had to try and freehand it.

but I'm gonna try making a new pair since those ended up not fitting well.
>>
>>8694317
A really easy way to make a stecil for painting is to draw what you want onto freezer paper. You can buy this at any grocery store. Draw your design and cut it out. There's a waxy side to the paper you put down and iron onto your fabric. You can iron it and it'll adhere to your fabric. you can paint in the open areas you cut, and then peal the paper off and it'll make your application much nicer.

Here's a quick tutorial for you:

Update for you Anon, I just got the wip head from our Sans. Still needs to be smoothed out with water putty and all that but hey we're coming along.
>>
>>8696535
what exactly is water putty? ive never heard of it before and would love to try some new materials.
>>
>>8696557
Oh man it's great stuff. You can get it for like 3 dollars at Home Depot and it's basically like plaster but more durable and it dries harder. You can sand it down and it sands just like wood because its cellulose. Its great for covering gaps and smoothing things out. It starts off like powder and all you need to do is add water to it to activate it. It's super helpful.

Does this chip and flake if hit (like by people walking by on armor)? I have been using plain wall spackle to smooth paper mache but it chips easily if it gets bumped.
>>
>>8696603
No it doesn't that's the best part. It's a really solid hold and can take damage really well. Don't like, bang on it with a hammer or anything but when it comes to con wear and tear this stuff is leagues better than spackle.

>>8696629
Ahhh that's awesome, thank you so much for the tip! I was getting tired of having to do armor maintenance and touch ups after every con, I will definitely be getting some of this stuff.
And one more quickie question, do you need to wear gloves to work with it?
>>
>>8696565
How does this compare with bondo?
>>
>>8696635
You can wear gloves if you want but it washes off very quickly. I used it without gloves but as long as you don't let it cake on your skin it washes off just fine.
>>8696648
Bondo is stronger than this stuff. This is mainly for patches and hole filling and external smoothing, wherein Bondo is for structure. This acts more as a durable spackle.

I'm just about done with my third attempt to make the MGSV balaclava.

This is my first time doing a serious sewing project like this, so I'm learning as I go, but I'm pretty happy with the progress.
The only problem that I haven't been able to figure out yet is the part above the eyes stretching too much. It should go pretty much straight across, but ends up stretching into a curve.

Once I get access to a sewing machine, I'll probably make another attempt, which will hopefully be the final one.

is it possible to commission someone to knit something for me
>>
>>8699937
maybe someone with a knitting machine would do it but knitting something by hand takes so long I doubt anyone would do it unless you paid them a lot more than you'd like. I'm a knitter and a full sweater takes a month of knitting for an hour or two every day.

Thank you my friend

That looks pretty good, and well molded.

I'm still deciding on which to go for for between Sans and Papyrus mainly because I'm too short for Papyrus(I'm 5'5) while I'm too thin for Sans(Not big boned, unfortunately) but I was wondering if you have a guide on how to make something like that, along with smoothing it with water putty?

If you're willing to pay a large amount for the labor that goes into it, sure. Sweaters can take a long time (a month or longer like >>8700015 said, sometimes faster if a fast knitter goes for more than 2 hours each day) but the amount of hours makes it hard to sell any hand knit sweater for even $90

Only way to commission a sweater for a not-bank-breaking price would be if the knitter had a knitting machine.

If you're looking for a scarf, that can be much quicker or longer depending on the length, if its striped, the amount of colors in the design, etc., but still expect someone to ask for maybe $30 minimum for even a regularly-sized simple scarf.

I'm excited to finally see a Frisk sweater that doesn't look like garbage. By the way, I loved your Mabel sweater.

Ah yes nothing like hand sewing your costume because your machine decided that it didn't want to work anymore.

Made a giant Berserker Axe-Sword for my Shirou Emiya costume. Tried to make this as lightweight as possible since its over 6ft long so its just cardboard, woodglue, scrap pvc pipe and papermache covered in leftover paints. Basically cost me nothing since It uses stuff I just had lying around. Still need to weather it some more and clear coat it.

I know you've already made it, but i would've recommended making it out of a piece of cardboard and a layer or two of greatstuff.
