I met a guy at a con. He was introduced to me from a good friend, and he started talking to me about anime I liked so we became friends. We talked a little bit online afterwards, and had a pretty good friendship.
A few years later, we both got out of relationships. I hadn't been feeling satisfied sexually in a while, so I finally worked up the courage to proposition him. We decided to be friends with benefits. Once we started hooking up, we became really close friends. And, as cliche as it sounds, we fell in love with each other.
We've been together for 2 years now. It's the best relationship either of us have been in. We enjoy cosplaying together and going to cons, he loves my clothing style and lolita. I feel like I could be with him forever.

I tried dropping hints to my friend about getting some more info on Guy 1 but I'm kind of chicken-shit. I tried checking medical the next year but apparently he wasn't working the shift I dropped by (though my friend mentioned that he was at the con). I see Guy 2 at local cons sometimes and he's pretty chill. We're friends now. So not all was lost.
I met my husband at a convention. Though we didn't hook up at the con.
I saw him trying to fix something on his costume, so I went over to help. Went our separate ways. Later on met again at a cosplay gathering he was hosting, we had mutual friends at the gathering too.
Our friends noticed that we seemed to be into each other. I even glanced over at one point and noticed the one talking to the other while looking at us.
Later on we were all hanging out together at our friends place, having drinks, etc... Having a good time. They start wrestling around. The one friend eventually pins him down, and makes him confess that he likes me. Then turns and asks me if I liked him too. We're all laughing our asses off but I manage to say that I did.
We started dating after that, and got married in 2011. Our 5th wedding anniversary is on Saturday.

To add to this, I was in a poly relationship at the start of college. A couple was in an open relationship.
