Last time we discussed the eternal hotel reservation drama at Abunai, how much we hate special snowflakes who use autism as an excuse to get a room, lolita meetup etiquette, experiences of both Under the Sea and Japantag (DE), and Nishicon's retarted hotel prices. We also shared a massive amoutn of (poor) advice on how to get some cock and/or pussy during cons. Turns out you have to be active instead of spend all your day hoping for that cute (fem)anon to come to you.

Convention news and agenda up to August:
>YashinCon (May 27th, Tilburg) is a cosplay meetup where you can spend €8 to try on sweaty cosplays that don't fit your body. Fun!
>Animecon (June 10th - 12th, the Hague) is almost near. They changed and left out multiple events so make sure to check the schedule in advance. Tickets are also still available for those interested.
>Tomoplay (July 2nd & 3rd, Berghem) is a retro, card and board games related meetup. Tickets are €2,50 (€5,00 incl. bus).
>Castlefest (August 5th - 7th, Lisse) is an outdoor fantasy convention. Tickets are currently on sale starting at €21,95 per day.
>Abunai (August 26th - 28th, Veldhoven) is the other big Dutch anime convention. Hotel rooms are sold out and day tickets are running low, so make sure to buy your tickets while you still can.
>Amsterdam Comic Con (August 27th - 28th) is a comic convention much like DCC, only bigger better and stronger. Tickets start at €15 and are currently on sale
>If there are any conventions or events I missed, which I did, feel free to post it in the thread and I'll include it in the next OP.

Strawpoll: "Are you interested in a Dutch Thread meetup at/near Animecon?"

>>
>Dutch Thread Survey
In the previous thread I did a little survey about who we are, what we do, where we live and what our interests are. You can view the results on the included infograph or at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Xf9Y2Q_3NQtihBZLNc_BUhPzR_uDbWNnK98w3JfbCcU/viewanalytics?usp=form_confirm
You can also view the official 2016 /cgl/ survey results at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Sb5CmK9W8LITFPCuV_W12n-tfKbiiv-OvzrShlrRxCg/viewanalytics?usp=form_confirm for those who are interested in comparing our stats with the rest of /cgl/

>Hey OP, whats with the Strawpoll?
In the previous thread we (shortly) discussed the possibility of doing a secret meetup at Animecon. I figured adding a Strawpoll to the OP would be a great way to see if people are really interested. I'm also considering adding relevant Strawpolls to future OP's (i.e. "How was Animecon?") as long as people don't complain about it.
>>
What're you wearing to animecon?
I'll be going in my normal clothes, hesitatingly trying out the 18+ speed dating.
>>
>>9023405
Probably regular clothes, although I'm rushing an EVA-01 costume using foam (body), worbla (head/helmet), and a black skinsuit to hide my skin around the joints. Although honestly I doubt it will be done in time and only agreed to it as someone challenged me to finish a costume in two weeks flat. I just want to win that bottle of Hertog Jan Grand Prestige damnit!
>>
Are there any cons / bigger meet ups near the sea or lakes?

I saw all these bikini cosplays last year, wondering if there will be any this year
>>
>>9023531
there's tomoparty but notice the tomo part of the name
>>
>>9023531
Are you willing to travel? TropiCon in Duisburg.

>>9023542
>tomoparty
I almost want to rant again. Fuck Tomo.
>>
>>9023573
Sounds like someone had too much wine for today.

>>9023561
>TomoCon
>TomoFair
>TomoPlay
>TomoParty
If only they would focus on one major con maybe TomoX would stop being so shitty
>>
Was going to ask if Tomoparty is worth the while, since it's just 5 bucks now, but no? I'm aware op the big fat TOMO, but it seems like something different for once
>>
>>9023605
This exactly, I feel like they try to get people for the low prices, but then have them go to every small con so they will spend the same as a regular con.
>>
>>9023632
Honestly, it's a nice chance from all the big crowded cons, and as long as you keep your expectations low it can be fun to attend TomoEvent. Then again, I'm biased as I live a short 15 minute bike ride away from their Berghem location, so to me TomoEvent is like going to the market for some kibbeling.

>>9023652
They probably do. But then again, it is nice to have several cheaper/smaller events to attend next to the bigger/expensive conventions. Moshi Moshi for instance was a lot of fun despite being small, but unfortunately it never returned for a second year.
>>
Even though it was before my time I heard chibicon was fun?
>>
Tomocrap is rated the lowest of the lowest, as you can see in the second post.

Having a low price is no excuse. The convention organizers for some reason think they do their best, but have no security or safety net to speak of. They are just irresponsible and last Tomothing the accident went just right. It will not be long and some really serious injury does happen, or worse.
>>
>>9023723
Actually, I think that is just more because it was the third con instead of actual quality. I would rate it somewhere between Nishi- and Tsunacon.
>>
>>9023726
there will always be retards hurting themselves at every con. I don't think a con should be judged negatively just because some people have no idea how to act at a convention
>>
>>9023561
>TropiCon in Duisburg

Do you have more Information about that? I live in Duisburg and have never heard of that, neither did I find anything on google.
>>
>>9023561
don't give him advice, for all we know he might just be there to perv on half naked cosplay chicks
>>
>>9023747
he can do that at normal cons too so not a big problem
>>
>>9023354
Great image again, OP! (Yes, it's the anon that suggested Tully here.)
>>
>>9023686
I am familiar wit tomocon and tomofair though (tomofair not ever worth the while) put party seemed different x'D
>>
>>9023756
>>9023747
he can do that at pools or beaches as well, so eh?
>>
>>9023794
Thanks again, I lost it when someone (probably you) requested "more Fully and Hema rookworst" in the survey and immediately photoshopped that picture. Although I'll probably use Boes, Alfred J Leak or Dommel (cosplay) for the next OP. It can't get any more Dutch anime than that I suppose.

>>9023742
>There will always be retards hurting themselves at every con.
Can confirm. Over the past 7 years I've seen people fall down stairs, drunkenly walk into glass doors, and tripping over their own costume. Although my all time favourites are people fainting from overheating or dehydration. I can't stress the importance of drinking enough water during a convention and yet some people think they can last all day in a synthetic costume without a single drop of water.
>>
>>9023743
https://aniwhen.com/en/?event=234&year=2016
It's new. Don't know how legit it is.
>>
>>9023897
Even better: they blame the convention for this as most venues in NL don't allow you to bring your own 3ct Lidl water in order to sell their 3eur Spa.
So they just wing it and put the blame somewhere else because they didn't budget their food expenses. Retards.
>>
>>9023531

For years, I keep hearing rumors about some Nude Beach No-Cosplay Meet. But I doubt there'll be bikinis there.
>>
>>9024187
those people can just go to wherever catering is, ask for a cup and go get some water. They mostly won't say no.

the weirdest thing about it btw, is that people at ANIMECON get dehydrated.... You can just barge in with your own food,b ut still you dehydrate? Last year one of the EHBO staff said she wasn't going to give people pracetamol anymore, because all these retards were simply dehydrated.
>>
>>9024381
I'm just bringing in refillable water bottles. I've got one with ice in the center and one normal.
>>
>>9024393
icebottles are the best!
>>
>>9023897
Haha actually that survey request didn't come from me. But I still think it was a good request anyway! And I agree, those are indeed good options for the next OP.

Btw my answer was 'j-rock' in the survey, in case you wonder. But so far it seems I'm the only one that cares about that. Oh well, at least Tully got some love here..
>>
>>9023354
soooooo I feel like an idiot.. I clicked on the thread picture, and was wondering for at last half a minute why you would've drawn over the mill's masts, before I noticed the entire thing is a god damn painting
>>
>>9024568
You're always welcome to post some J-rock in the thread. I remember having a good time watching Back-on play at Animecon. Their rhythm guitarist was just so laid back while the lead guitarist/singer/Koda Kumi's lover was all over the place. It's those little things I enjoy in bands, really reminded me of Townshend and Entwistle in the Who which had the same thing going on.

>>9024571
Prepare to get fooled again, it's actually a random photograph from Google with PaintDotNet's build in oil painting effect applied to it.
>>
While I agree all Tomo events such, Tomoparty was actually a lot of fun last year. Swimming in the lake, photoshoots in the water and then a great edition of Deshima sounds. Just don't expect anything from the organisation.
>>
>>9024639
So everything but the event was fun XD.
Might aswell go to the lake (public property) in cosplay.
There saved you 5 bucks now pay up.
>>
not exactly cgl related I suppose, but still wondering. People here going to strictly kpop tomorrow?
>>
>>9025086
Not going, but I'm curious how this event is. Is it really worth going to?
>>
>>9025166
It was only 5 bucks, but it'll be my first time going, i'll post a reply how it was tomorrow evening hehe
>>
>>9025086
Yeah I'm going but I really Hope they also play some songs I actually know
>>
>>9024017
Thanks anon. They need to work on their promotion then. That's 10 minutes away from here with car/bicycle kek.
>>
>tfw you've ordered additional materials from Minque on Wednesday, and your order has been stuck on "verwerkt" ever since.
Why can't they do 24 hour shipping like every other store? It's not like I actually wanted to spend my free weekend working on my cosplay or anything...
>>
>>9026604
As someone who has worked at a small webshop: most of the assortment is not kept on the selves. Its too much of a risk.
24 hour shipment is expensive as hell.
>>
>>9026609
Makes sense, but why give buyers the option to set a delivery date starting at the next day if they can't live up to it? By now I would had been better off ordering at an shop in Belgium that promised 48 hour shipment to the Netherlands...
>>
>>9026604
The one time I ordered from them it took about 3 weeks.
>>
they are talking about the dutch lolita comm >>9024465 if anyone is interested.
>>
>>9026647
>3 weeks
I swear if they pull this off I'll simply cancel my order and order everything at another store. Not only did they missed the promised delivery date, but they also didn't even bother informing me about it leaving me completely in the dark. Even shady Chinese eBay sellers who rely on Google Translate do a better job at communicating with their buyers. Anyway I just messaged them so all that's left now is to sit and wait for a reply and look for alternative (physical) stores in the meanwhile.
>>
>>9026648
You guys seems to have quite some drama in your community. But then again, the fact that someone here thought some guy was interested to become a brolita instead of ouji/aristocrat, kinda shows that the miscommunication is obvious. Maybe it helps to all sit in a circle and have a good talk lol.
>>
>>9026670
In our defence, we love drama more than we love costumes and have a lot of cross-dressing guys who refuse to shave and make entire groups look like they are all guys.
>>
>>9026670
Have you ever read these dutch threads about the cosplay comm? You guys are no saints either
>>
>>9026670
Why are you bringing that guy up? That's not being discussed here anywhere.
>>
>>9026689
keeping the conversation goin'
and the drama flowin'
>>
So on the Aniway forum the AA thread seems to slowly get discussion going again.

I feel like a lot of the newer artists are willing to put in more effort into their products and look at what American cons sell and are slowly gearing towards that.
Meanwhile the old squad including people like Appeltjesgroen and Superkip seem to be content selling their laminated keychains and other cheapy made items (and wonder why nobody buys it).

While I get that us Dutchies are generally a bit more frugal when it comes to spending at cons, I feel like it gets blamed too much on that rather then the quality available

Hey Lunar, ik wacht nog steeds op die foto die je me zou sturen. <3 The Anime Boy NL Chris

>>9026915
To me it's both really, the Dutch are cautious spenders (or "cheap" according to foreigners) and don't like paying too much on anything, while a lot of cosplay/artist merchandise tends to be overpriced junk. Instead of bitching about no one buying things because we're cheap they should just focus more on raising the quality of said items or lowering the prices. After all, nobody is going to spend €5 on a low quality key chain that can't even open a bottle, or €10 on an A4 cosplay print which only costs €1,60 to print at the Hema.
>>
So erhmm... nobody talking about that cosplayer shooting a vid (of a certain nature) with Kim Holland?

>Two Hetaliatards in a circlejerk
This is the story about two crossplaying hetaliatards making out in the open before the squeeling schoolgirls, and then getting invited by a gay guy to his 'dark red room party'. Upon entering the dark room, none of the present gay boys realise they are actually not boys. And while a muscled guy grinds his groin to one of the hetaliatard's ass whispering "I can't wait to be in there", she shudders with delight. All the meanwhile her friend is busy fighting off a fat guy who's tugging on her binder.
>>

>>
>>9027110
Silly anon, how can there be a torrent of Abunai 2016 Drunken, Passed out, Tied to the Toilet with a Rainbow Dash Baseball Cap when it hasn't been shot yet?
>>
>>9027027
Are you that same person who heard about the WCS conspiracy at a "kingsday party". You sure do sound alike.

No wonder we aren't talking about it, it's been recorded over three years ago. Also I couldn't find a torrent or copy on newsgroups. Not that surprising really with such a generic name as Nana and considering how most of Kim Holland's material exists out of fugly crackwhores.

>>9027194
For some reason she reminds me of an Alice cosplayer.

>>
>>9028176
you mean strictly kpop? Yeah it was alright. Some dj's playing kpop, dance workshop, some performers, en little dance competition and more kpop songs being played with a lot of dancing. There was also a "market" with 5 or 6 stands and was overcrowded and too small. A karaoke without romanji lyrics, so that was undoable... and the average age was 15, so I felt like a mom for almost the entire day. It's that kind of event you have fun at just because of your friends. (litterally hitting a korean themed club alone, filled with underaged girls)

>>
>>9028400
It is almost 4 years ago that she made that video, a bit younger then, a bit wet behind the ears perhaps, craving for attention? Who knows? But her shop predates this video by at least 2 years.

I get more the feeling that she exactly knows what she is doing.

Gotta love how our threads tend to go all over the place. Random cosplay drama, Abunai sextape, convention talk, Tully worshipping, surveys, Lolita porn tape, hotel drama...

>>9028415
Looking at her Facebook profile (2 mutual friends, lolwut?), she went off the radar in mid 2012, alienated a lot of her friends and gained a lot of weight. So it's pretty save to say she was depressed back then and likely suffered from medication related weight gain. Then around the same time the porn video was posted she travelled to Japan (which isn't exactly cheap) and she slowly started to post again, with her complaining a lot about her weight.
So yeah, my bet is she was down and out at the time. Then someone approached her to do a porn shoot for good money, and a lot of attention to make her feel good about herself to which she happily obliged. As for why she was depressed, she had a rant about lover boys and abusive relationships in 2012, and considering the nature of her video, I wouldn't be surprised if she was abused or something like that. Keep in mind this is pure speculation based on what I saw on her profile and my own personal experience.

What are you guy's thoughts on CMVs? (cosplay music videos)
>>
>>9031020
They can be fun, as long as the cosplayer isn't some delusional idiot who thinks he will single handedly change the way people see cosplay. I also love those convention cosplay compilations, great way to make a trip down memory lane.
>>
>>9031026
Hahah what do you mean with that ,example?
And yeah I love them too! Like G&J productions
>>
>>9031020
I like CMV's
indeed those convention music video's or just some fun skits on music. I do however feel like these should be filmed in nice kwality and the video should have some thought behind it.
Adding to that, I kind of dislike the CMV's in which people just mimic the real music video, but just wear cosplay, I like it when people are more creative than that.
>>
>>9031020
There are definitely a few good CMVs. I watched the contest at Nishicon an they were surprisingly decent. Although some are definitely embarrassing to watch like bad yaoi CMVs, I can't even tell whether they are are serious or intentionally bad half the time.

It's been 4 days since I posted the Strawpoll in the OP, and currently we have 12 people interested in a Seagull meetup. It's clear to me that there is enough interest and all that remains now is setting on a day, time and location. So, any suggestions? Some anon already suggested doing our meetup during 18+ speed dating or some other event, but more ideas are always welcome. I also posted the Animecon schedule to make this a bit easier as I for one don't want to miss any of the major events.

What she does is still technically cosplay. Hence even wearing poor quality Halloween costumes is cosplay, though delusional weebs try to deny it. Whether she's a good cosplayer or not is another thing. Personally, I'm not a fan. I don't really get the appeal of latex, but to each their own I guess.
>>
>>9032291
Whelp... not what I expected. Should've paid more attention. =_=
>>

>>

Low profile, yet easy to spot for those knowing what to look for. I like it! Which of the two stands do you mean by the way? The one that's always at the World Forum or the one Animecon added last year?

When you said "a german duo" I was suddenly reminded of that german twin (bleach crossplayers), who apparently have no problems acting out bl stuff together (including tonguehockey before squeeling fangirls).
>>
Suddenly a lot of cosplay quality becomes understandable when you see the amount of money people spend on their costumes..
>>
You mean the cheap ones or the expensive ones?
>>
I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one spending a shitload of money on cosplay.
>>
>>9034482
See the topic in CosplayNL.
>>
>>9034582
I have been following it and sent it to my mom so she knows that I don't spend a lot of money on cosplay.
>>
When guys claim to like 'natural' girls or bash nigri to score points. As if I can't see the comments they leave on facebook or that they like her page. Psh

Guy claims to like natural girls
same guy complains when boobs hang after some years and how ugly girls are without make-up

I dont think some guys get nature....
>>
>>9032291

Hah wow that was so terribad. I do not understand why white girls want to squeel and make those sounds the japs do.
Not sexy at all desu.
>>
>>9036061
>>9036112
Honestly, I prefer girls who stay somewhat "natural" in daily life, purely so I can be left in awe in the rare occasion they do dress up and wear makeup. Then again I'm also into tomboys so that might explain a thing or two.

I think they get it perfectly fine, but just appreciate some aspects of 'nature'.

I mean an extreme and obvious example is women defecating and menstruation. Very natural, but most men want nothing to do with it.
>>
Speaking of deshima sounds at Animecon, what do you guys think about all those cosplayers changing into another cosplay during the gala and deshima? I do get that you wnat to get out of cosplay to move better, but changing into another cosplay? I dont really understand that....
>>
>>9037343

Sluts changing into more revealing clothing whilst slowly getting drunk/drugged.

What is not to like?

>>
>>9037382
yeah I do understand that, but changing into an entire other cosplay... why not just go as yourself to deshima if you wore a big ass cosplay, why take 1 or 2 hours to change into a totally diffrent cosplay just for deshima...
>>
Because all cosplayers like attention and in your normal clothes nobody cares about what you look like
>>
>>9037378

Slut shaming? I am the biggest lover of sluts. Only shame they feel is the day after during the walk of shame.

But I guess it all boils down to girls and/or guys wanting to be a special snowflake.
You can go clubbing in normal wear but not in cosplays wear. Dweebima sounds make this possible.

I know what to look out for then. Mine's got EL-wiring and a visor.
>>
>>9037343
Most people I know change to wearing a kigurumi at Deshima Sounds. Guess it's because it's comfy. When going to Deshima Sounds I also change to comfy clothes. And yes, surely clothes that aren't too warm either (for the obvious reason that's it's warm and I don't want to sweat to death). I haven't really seen people changing to another cosplay though, have examples?
>>
>>9037991
Loads of purple eva foam, green fluorescent paint, (shitty) worbla helmet and a black skinsuit to cover up my laziness around the joints. I'm really starting to regret my decision to go big despite having only made one outfit before.

>Mine's got EL-wiring and a visor.
And now I want to make a Tron costume, thanks Anon!

>>9038075
There is nothing more comfy than wearing a bathrobe and shorts. In fact, if I fail to finish my outfit on time I'll just go full Lebowski during Deshima.
>>
>>9038108
I'm a girl and thanks to you I'm legitimately considering the dude's attire
>>
>>9038149
You're welcome Femanon, and I can tell you out of my own experience, you won't regret it. Plus everything about the Dude's attire is functional in daily life, so it's not you'll be burning money on some thrown together costume. Just make sure to wear/buy a decent bathrobe however (RIP Vroom & Dreesman) as they tend to be a lot softer, more stylish and more durable than the cheaper ones. After all, mad comfort beats saving a few bucks any day!
>>
>>9038190
I got my dad's bathrobe (which he never wore) and the thing is sily smooth. Not the same colour tho.. I'm not sure if I will finish it for this con, but I have the sneaking suspicion my lolita coord's gonna do just fine:)

First time going to Animecon ... Does the building (World Forum) have air conditioning? Just to know what to expect and whether I'll be sweating or not ...
>>
>>9031145

Didn't see the original strawpoll results ... will the meetup be on Saturday?
>>
How tight is animecon about props, my wooden swords are a bit sharper than expected
>>
>>9038719
Does it contain metal? You'll probably have to leave it in your room, car or the bag room then.
>>
>>9038635
Yes, although I really should had followed some worbla workshops before diving head in with a material I've never used before. Even after 8 layers of Gesso and fine sanding the helmet still has uneven spots. Luckily Liquitex paints are pretty good at filling smaller dents as I'm running out of time. Stupid last minute cosplay bet... at least I'll win a crate of Hertog Jan if I finish it on time.

>>9038690
They have air conditioning. The game room, dealer room, theater and main halls are always cool, while the smaller rooms tend to warm up when there a lot of people inside. Nothing unbearable mind you, just a few degrees above my personal comfort zone. Then again I'm one of those guys who are always warm and can walk around in a shirt during winter without feeling cold.

>>9038694
Saturday does seem like the best day as it's probably the day with the most seagulls. I'm heavily in favour of Anon's plan to meet at the fries stand holding a straw or some shit. Only thing really left is to a pick a time.

>>9038719
As long as you can't cut yourself with it or has big pieces of (visible) metal you'll probably be fine. Still, you might want to dull it with a rotary tool/sander just to be on the safe side.
>>
>>9038746
>>9038758
No metal at all so should be good then
>>
>>9038766
Still, if in doubt I would definitely dull it down a bit. Only takes 5 minutes (if you haven't applied any finishing that is) and at least you'll be sure you wont have to keep it in your car all day.
>>
>>9038758

Saturday sounds good to me, too. I'd enjoy meeting some seagulls. What time, though? I wanted to see the cosplay competition at 16:00.

I understand why big bags can be a problem, I just hope my camera bag for my DSLR isn't too big (I measured it and it's okay-ish but I don't know about their box thing ...).
>>
>>9038871
they have a special camera bag space at the bag room, use it, they are extra careful and you won't get shit that you want to enter a room or auditorium

Sure, have this picture of my lower leg pieces undergoing painting. The whole "plastered with newspapers" look really compliments the secondary colours. Although the leakage of green makes me wonder if fluorescent paints are thinner than traditional acrylics as I normally don't have this issue.

What do you think? Also nobody cares if you bring your own booze as long and you keep it outside. Same goes for smoking herbs by the way, although I recommend walking around the corner of the con if you don't want people to get annoyed at you.
>>
>>9041947
But do people get 'aangeschoten' for the party's? I know a lot of people that go to cons don't drink at all and I don't know what the average is. Drinking a little bit should never be a problem but being to only tipsy group at the party might not be super awesome :p (Btw, I'm totally fine with people not drinking)

Guess we found the first event for the /CGL/ meet; mass m'lady Lucille-chan.
>>
Speaking about the meet, I took a good look at the schedule. If we don't want to miss out on any of the major events on Saturday (aka competitions, concerts etc) we'll only have a couple of options:
>11:00, conflicts with MK tournament
>12:00, conflicts with open cosplay stage and bento workshop
>15:00 (after AMV competition), conflicts with sushi workshop and smash bros tournament. Also we all know Animecon is great at having events run late.
>18:00 or 19:00 (dinner time), conflicts with sushi workshop
>No times afterwards due to concert, deshima sounds and sake tasting.

Personally I'm in favour of meeting around dinner time, following Some Anons™ plan to meet at the French fries stand holding a straw or some other subtle shit like that. Any opinions?
>>
>>9044227
Well good thing she made that post, else I would have thought she was just another random anime character cosplayer I wouldn't really care about.
>>
>>9044256
>11:00, conflicts with Sound recordings for cosplay and shows
>12:00, conflicts with the J-fashion experience 2016
>15:00 conflicts with Shiroku
>18:00 conflicts with Shape your body into cosplay: Nutrition
>19:00 conflicts with ninjutsu

I would be more worried about missing out on these. Guess the 18:00 would work the best for me.

>>
Did you see the animecon 'All Aboard' video? I can't post it here but it's on their FB page.

Half the video is someone biking for some reason. And then they fly around in a crummy Cessna. At least no cringy story and dialogue like Abunai always does but still. At least the electro swing music is nice.

And low-waist jeans + showing midriff is really not the look for that short haired girl.
>>
>>9045707
Agreed on all you said, although Rini normally does some amazing cosplay (Powergirl at DCC for instance) and I'm looking forward to see what she'll be wearing at Animecon this year.
>>
>>9045707

>>
>>9045707
I actually enjoy the Abunaicon videos as it looks like they put a lot of effort into them and they look like having fun.. I dont understand this Animecon video. Like, theme is all aboard? But huh? Planes, cosplayers in those outfits? I cant connect them dots. Anyone care to explain what the function of this video is? Next to giving some people screentime and free planerides xD (good for them though! Nothing wrong with that).
>>
>>9045913
So I wasn't the only one that didn' get it. Good. Nice fail, animecon.
>>
>>9045913
I like that Abunai actually does something with their themes but they definitely are cringeworthy. They really need better actors. And last year they had this weird pro-trans message during the whole thing and it just made no sense and had nothing to do with anything.
>>
It looks more like a cmv to me, I'm not even sure if AnimeCon itself was part of the production. My guess is that some people asked if they could do this and AnimeCon said: 'Sure, go ahead.'
>>
>>9045827

>Hotel staff weirdly looks at you wondering why you need two big bags for one weekend

Animecon has been there for three years. I'd say that they're pretty used to the whole thing by now.

>Long line to pick up your badge
Oh gee, 5900+ people want to get into the con and form a line to do so. Oh noooo, I totally did not expect that~
>>
>>9046712
Do you always take everything in life this serious?
>>
First time attending. How long is the queue for the con badge normally?
>>
>>9046803
On Friday you can expect a 30~60 minute wait during the initial opening. Around 16:30 the line tends to be 10~15 minutes and after 18:00 the line will have pretty much disappeared completely. Personally I would recommend skipping the opening as there is very little to do around that time anyway making joining the long line pretty much pointless.
As for the lines on Saturday and Sunday, I can't really speak about them as I've been buying weekend tickets for the last 6 years. I expect similar long lines early in the morning and less/no lines around lunch.

Also expect every major event to start at least 10 minutes late, buy concert and tasting tickets in advance, bring cash with you (you can pin for drinks and most food), stay well hydrated, New York Pizza delivers to the hotel and we like to build thrones out of the boxes, try the taiyaki with red bean paste as it's delicious, visit the AH beforehand if you don't like spending €2,50 on a bottle of Spa Blauw, stay hydrated, bring your own painkillers, smoke/vape/blow outside, don't bring large bags to the game/dealer room, leave major events early if you don't want to wait at said bag room for 15 fucking minutes, alcohol is sold at the con but feel free to bring your own, bring deodorant with you, the stairs are oddly disorienting even when sober, and finally, stay fucking hydrated.
>>
>>9046867
You're a good anon
>>
>>9046881
Anything for a first time attendee. Also if you own an Android phone you can download the official Animecon app. It comes with the full schedule along with details on every event, and you can use it to set reminders for any event you're interested in. Probably the best innovation Animecon did during the past two years, although I really miss the option to vote with it during competitions.

OP here, just to clear things up the meet will take place Saturday around 18:00~18:15 near the french fries stand in front of the con. Look for the shittiest cosplay you can find, if it has a little flag of Tully on its shoulder you've found the right group. Until then, I wish all of you a great con!
>>
>>9047121

You can always ask, last year people could get into their rooms at 1 o'clock before standing in line for their badge, other people had to wait till 3. So best is to just ask the hotel when you arrive if you can check in or not. They will look up your room and give you the information you need :)
