since I've mastered the nose contour I'd say my hair, I usually just wear it straight down, in a dango or twin tails. I'm really untalented if it comes to hair I guess

I knew about ganguro from manga since I was like 11, found out that gyaru was still a thing on here around 2012, then started wearing it in 2013.

I really struggled with hair for ages? Idk I don't think struggle is the right word because I wasn't really trying. But then some random on secrets said I needed to style my hair more often and I was like huh actually that would probably make a big difference. So I did! And now I look way better. I think it's easier to make your makeup more dramatic if you know you have the hair to go with it.

Half-updos, mostly. If you curl your hair well and then put half of it up on the crown on your head, you can get some pretty good volume without needing to tease it to death or use a half-wig.

Not at all! That big poofy bit in the front is super easy to do I do that myself all the time. You just pick up your bangs, tease them at the back, spray them, then hold them up/leaning forwards a little until the spray dried. Once it dries, you have a big poofy cushion of tease hair to smooth your bang-bump back over, then you pin it into place! Easy stuff. And the big ponytail is just a matter of having thick enough hair/extensions and using hairspray to fluff it up a bit.

Well, I usually wear my hair flat or in twintails, because everything else is super difficult with this piece of crap on my head. Dunno what's wrong with my hair, but even hairstylists have a rough time to bring it in decent curls which won't turn flat again in a minute.

Oh flat hair anon! Hi, I remember you. Yes, you could do it 'behind' the bangs in theory, but you might struggle to get enough hair for a bump+ bangs unless you have super thick hair.

This may be a super dumb question, but does lace quality matter in hime? I know it's important to have good lace in lolita, and was wondering if there's a similar standard in gyaru.

Pfft nah, most of the clothing from gal brands isn't really good quality at all. As long as it looks expensive and fancy, you're sorted for quality in hime.

I guess it depends on the yourself, if you prefe higher quality stuff, than yes it does matter, if not, go ahead with the cheap stuff.
Anyway since hime gyaru, hime lolita and sweet lolita crossover (see koakuma ageha) I guess if you buy from some of the lolita brands you'll get more high quality stuff. Eg salopettes are pretty nice to use and if you're taller than 167 a lot of the AP OP's do work as well

same problem in my city (without the sex work bit), all the (decent) gals in my city either left for Japan or quit. I have some gal friends, but they're further away. My really close gal friends are mostly online. I'm making a last-ditch attempt to try and entice new people into the community before giving up on it, though.
