My friend and I are doing a panel at an upcoming convention. The con is filled with newbie con goers so we want to do a panel to help them know what to do and what not to do at a convention. Share the dos and don'ts of convention, tips and tricks, horror stories, roommate stories, room etiquette, etc...
Just curious but is it Genericon in the capital region?

Dos:
-Bring extra money in case of emergency!
-Bring a bag to carry impulse purchases in
-Carry all documentation on you, con reg, hotel info, ETC
-Brings food and drinks. Hotel food is expensive and nobody pays $15 for a double shot!
-If in cosplay, bring a bag of sewing supplies just in case
-Be polite, nobody likes a guy rushing and bumping into everyone
-Phone charger, bring one
-comfortable shoes in a bag if you're in heels. After a few hours, you'll need them.
-Be mindful of large props! They can break, or whack someone
Donts:
-Don't be over stimulated, screaming all over the place is no fun for anyone.
-Steal, should be obvious, but there are busts all the time.
-Bring live steel. Security checks it, nobody likes it, you'll just get kicked out.
-Go anywhere with strangers. Kinda obvious as well, but even in groups of gulls, be careful!
-Argue with staff. Holy fuck, do NOT argue with staff.
-Run. It can imply a lot of things from theft, to an actual emergency.
-Glomp/hug/whatever without permission. Its as best creepy and at worst can get you removed for sexual assault.
-Kinda odd, but I've seen people in crossplay enter the bathrooms of their crossplayed gender. Seems odd, some cons may have rules against this.

I used to dress up in lolita to cheer myself up in harder times, when I was younger. Now I hate my self so so much I can't bring myself to do my make up and hair. When I finally get some clothes on that are not sweater or work clothes, I feel like a fat, frumpy, ugly weirdo.

So, I'm cosplaying Mako from Kill la Kill and I'm struggling on how to make the coat look like hers. I want it to "float" like hers, any idea what could I use?
I thought about putting some wire at the edges but the coat is quite heavy and long but I'm not sure if the wiring would be enough to support it.
Should I make some kind of wire structure instead of just passing wire at the edges? I'm scared the structure would be visible, like a crinoline can be seen under a skirt.
